I have seen movies and photos of the A-bombs that went off on Hiroshima
and Nagasaki, but I didn't see either one of them go off for myself, i.e. I
wasn't an eye witness to those detonations.

When I was a kid in California back in the decade of the 1950s, my dad took
me outside to watch an A-bomb test in New Mexico. We lived too far away to
actually see the bomb go off, but I did a glow in the eastern sky that my dad
said was the bomb.

So to this day, I have never actually seen an A-bomb go off. Is that
sufficient reason for me to believe the bombs are a hoax?

I served on several juries. In none of those cases was I an eye-witness to
the facts, yet I was required to pass judgment on them based upon the
testimony of witnesses whom I'd never met. Is that sufficient reason for me
to believe those cases were groundless?

I have seen lots of movies and photos of the Earth from space. I have
never seen the Earth from space for myself, i.e. I am not an eye-witness of
the Earth's shape. Is that sufficient reason for me to believe those movies
and photos are fake?

Christ's apostles left behind gospels and epistles claiming their leader's
crucified dead body was restored to life. I myself have never seen Christ;
either before or after his death, i.e. I am not an eye-witness to his life and
times. Is that sufficient reason for me to believe those gospels and epistles
are fiction?

It is impossible to go thru life without the element of trust. Sooner or later, if
not all the time, we have to take somebody's word for it that certain things
are true without our actually seeing them true for ourselves. There's just no
getting out of it.

The thing is: there is just too much evidence, and too many witnesses,
verifying that the Earth is a ball rather than a disk; and the witnesses and
the evidence have been corroborating ever since Russia's first Sputnik back
in October of 1957.

In order to convince folks that the Earth is flat, it would be necessary to first
discredit the science and industry of the USA, Russia, China, SpaceX, Blue
Origin, Google Earth, and the European Space Agency, plus all the imaging
teams, all the mission specialists, all the astronauts, all the cartographers,
all the astronomers, and all the folks involved in designing the GPS system
and satellite communications. In other words: flatters had a slim chance of
being right prior to the space age, but now they have no chance at all.

This is my last post in this thread because I felt led to make this observation after reading your post.

Maybe consider if someone advancing the FE myth claims it is conceivable because, wording the following any way they like, no one has ever actually seen Earth but rather take NASA's and others word that it is a globe, consider how they've just painted themselves into a corner by setting that observation bar.

Especially if professing to believe in God whom they've never seen with their own eyes. Only taking the word of others he exists and inspired the Bible.

In other words; avoid ad hominems and thoughtless remarks about their IQ,
instead, offer your thoughts in a scholarly manner and give them ample
time to think things over before deciding whether to reinvent themselves.
This is a really good opportunity to practice some of that patience Christians
are always talking about.
This is a good idea in any case - whoever it may be referring to.

Christians should always strive to deal with all people with a 'fruit of the spirit' attitude-and-disposition as much as possible.

We are not perfect by any means; however, we should always try to be what God wants us to be - especially where other Christians are concerned.

This isn't a complete model. It is disqualified immediately because it is an azimuthal equidistant projection map. A spherical map projection cannot be the basis for a flat earth model. No surveying has yet been done for a FE map.
How many times do I have to tell you..?

ALL surveying - in all of history - was done for the sake of 'flat' maps.

The 'spherical' was/is actually a 'modern' adaptation of the 'flat' - not the other way around.

The truth will never reach those dedicated to the myth of flat Earth.
A greater truth to be considered:

"Truth is available only to those who have the courage to question whatever they have been taught." - (Author Unknown)

There's a meme that's circulated on the net for years.
''THE BIBLE WAS WRITTEN BY THE SAME PEOPLE WHO THOUGHT THE EARTH WAS FLAT''

They shall answer for every word.
They blaspheme the Bible with their Eisegesis.
You almost make it sound like a belief in a flat earth is worse than all of the atrocities that are happening in the world today.

If you truly believe that such an idea is blasphemy against/of/to the Bible, then I suppose you should certainly do your best to defend the Bible. However, before you "go all out" and "go all in", give some consideration to the actual possibility that you could be wrong - it may just save you from having to "answer for every word"... ;)

The Bible does not say earth is flat.
No - the Bible does not [actually] say "the earth is flat"; however, based on what it does say - it indicates, at the very least, that the earth is not a spinning ball flying through space... :)

The way the Bible describes how God created the earth - it 'virtually' says that the earth is flat.

Of course.
It could be worse. There could be, or probably is when FE's Satirists exist, those who believe Earth is a square because of the Biblical references to the four corners of the Earth in scripture.

I wonder what FE's think the pillars are erected upon that hold up their flat world.
1 Samuel 2:8 He raises up the poor from the dust; he lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit a seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and on them he has set the world.
The real question is - are you willing to believe what God said?

We could be discussing the Bible rather than continue to be distracted by this sillyness for 140 pages.
We could be discussing what the Bible [actually] says about the earth - but, the BE folks are too afraid to seriously consider it.

Instead, they all just say "the Bible does not say that the earth is flat" and continue in ignorance about what the Bible does actually say about the earth.

If the title of the thread is based on the forum it is in - then, we should be having a discussion about what the Bible says about the earth.

Only the FE folks seem to be willing to take seriously what the Bible says about the earth.

Wow. That is terrible. It sounds like she was institutionalised for speaking the truth. Very sad. :(
She was given a shot of antibiotics because she wasn't eating. She was very weak, dehydrated.
She often said she didn't want to live, because this world is evil, and the tribulations are coming. She talked about things like "have you noticed how many big box stores have shut down, and they're just sitting there empty? It's because the government is going to use them as concentration camps, they're gonna lock all the christians up in them".

I don't think that flerthing necessarily makes one a bad person.

I mean... what if they're right?
I've never believed evolution, even as a non-Christian. There is more evidence for evolution than there is for flat earth. The curvature of the earth is, and has been observed for thousands of years. I've observed it myself, at sea. I know from my work with microwaves that the earth is curved. Radar proves it conclusively. Millions, if not billions of people have to lie about the globe earth, if it is indeed flat.

The real question is - are you willing to believe what God said?
Are you?

Yeah - Satan just does not want to let his Ball Earth lie die - he has spent too many centuries building it up...

Yes - whether you realize it or not...

What bigotry.
You are calling God's creation, which he said was good, a lie of Satan.

I'm sorry you have become indoctrinated with such foolishness.

For the umpteenth time- The continuous day/night & annual cycle. Described in detail, Gen 1:14-19
FE makes a mockery of it. I have not yet encountered a FE believer who has a heart to see the beauty in God's creation.

139 pages. 😳 Debating a lie.

What I've learned here is that Flerthers- after all their demands to be taken seriously, have 2 basic arguments.

1 We are flat-earthers & we say so.
2 You're a Satanist.

I think I'll go back to just laughing at the absurdity of it & hope God reveals truth to them in his timing.
We are quickly running out of 2022. FE debate is probably not the best way to begin the new year. :censored:
