What is Sexual Sin

All sexual conduct outside of marriage between a man and a woman is sin. All lustful thinking is sexual sin. Although I have no quote from the scripture, I believe that it includes self sex.

What does the Bible say about Sexual Immorality

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body

Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.

Matthew 5:28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor, not in the passion of lust like the Gentiles who do not know God;

Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

What are the consequences of Sexual Sin?

1Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Romans 1:24 Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,

Proverbs 6:32 He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself.

Breakup of families, illegitimate children. Children that are not taken care of by both parents.

Is It Possible to Avoid Sexual sin?

James 1:13-14 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

One way to not to be enticed by your own desire is reject any lustful thought. Avoid looking at women or men. Avoid any video, TV, movies that have any sexual content or suggestion. Avoid pornography. There is a saying that you can’t stop a bird from landing on your head but you can avoid the bird making a nest in your hair. What this means is that when lustful thoughts arise to reject them and think about something else, like worshiping God, reading the scripture or reviewing the scripture you have memorized.

Genesis 39 6:10 She caught him by his garment, saying “Lie with me”. Bu he left his garment in her hand and fled and ran outside: Joseph resisted this tremendous moment of temptation when he ran outside. Joseph did what we are all supposed to when faced with this kind of situation: he fled and ran.

Promise Keepers addresses the possibility of Overcoming Sexual Sin: https://www.impactus.org/articles/overcoming-sexual-sin/

if you asked me if I have been overcome sexual sin, here is how I would answer: For most of my life up to a year and a half ago the answer was no, it was a besetting sin (self sex, pornography, and others). About two years ago I decided that I would overcome the self sex sin and others. I rejected thinking lustful thoughts, looking at pornography, looking at women with lust. I can tell you for certain it was sheer pain, probably one of the more painful and difficult things I went through. A short time later after I decided that I had engaged in this sin (far too long), there was an encounter with God at the same time. There was with the pain but alongside the pain was the wonderful presence of God. I realized I loved Him far more than I loved the sin. I looked forward to the temptation just to have His company. Will He do that for you? I don’t know, I think He has a vested interested in you His child, so the likelihood is He will. The pleasure of His presence during the temptation has somewhat faded in recent months but I already have the knowledge that He has given me the power to overcome this sin and I do, and the pain has subsided in resisting the sin.

A couple of months went past between the start of experiencing His presence during the temptation and when as I was worshiping, that He said to me “I love you and you love me”. Was that a reward of obeying Him in the sexual area, quite possibly. I can’t say yes because I don’t understand His thinking, its too far beyond me.

Lately I have realized how greatly He loves me, and I love Him. I am precious to Him. We cling to each other. It has become a love affair of the best kind.

Good topic but probably not the right forum (unless you write a poem about it real quick ;)). I don't know how things work here as far as moving threads to another forum, etc. But just wanted to point out that perhaps you wanted to post it in another section.

Part of it is biological drives that each person has and learning the temperance required to control oneself. Normally it isn't instant and maybe it's a bit like trying to lasso a roller coaster. Normally it takes people getting well into their adulthood before they finally start getting a grip on it. With proper upbringing I guess that might predispose someone to being wiser about it.

I've heard of mature, serious christian men in their elderly years who still struggle with sinful thoughts. I think as we mature, it becomes less of a problem, or we learn better how to take thoughts captive. But, we will not master that 100% in this life. Or, any other sin for that matter.

I await the day when the struggle is over, and I have a new body with a new nature, the way we were meant to be.

It can be embarassing to even speak on a person level about this sin. My wish is that the scriptures i quoted and my words that i did overcome this sin would be encouragement to a struggling Child of His. Until very late in my life I thought it was not possible but it is. There are many Godly men and woman that don’t commit sexual sin.

Because the drive is so strong for many i suspect the power from God to overcome this sin (any sin) is needed.

One of the things is i have to ever watchful that i dont commit this sin ever! I am not invulnerable

Yeah for me, more so when I was younger, it felt like just being dragged along for a ride I didn’t even choose to get on. Lots of ups and downs. When you actually attempt to control it you realize how difficult it can be.

Jesus said something about praying so they didn’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

You have a new nature since i assume you are born again.

He lives in His Children. While we can’t live completely like we would in heaven, we can come closer.

Many of His holy ones experience a very close relationship with Him. That closeness i believe is not just for a select number, we can be His holy ones, fully committed in love with Him and He with us, even now on Earth.

All lustful thinking is sexual sin.
This is the response Jesus gave to Peter regarding sin against a brother in Matthew 18th chapter. My guess this applies to our lusts and all other transgressions and likely to sisters and likely non-Christians.

21 ¶ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

Matthew 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Yes, I have heard of this too. If the men start having Alzheimer's, they soon do not know what is right and wrong and porn addiction at that age could also indicate Alzheimer's. Scary.

All lustful thinking is sexual sin.
It is a waste of time and nothing good comes out of it. Studies have shown there are some similarities between drug addiction and porn addiction, it all warps the mind.

Alzheimer's... another consequence of the fall. Someday, it too will be banished from human experience.

Well, there's porn addiction, and then there's simply what happens when a hottie walks by you on the street or at the gym. I need to force myself to look away. Even then, my body eventually builds up with desire over time and that messes with my head.

No, I seek God daily for sanctification, and I ask Him for help to take captive my thoughts. Still, I have lustful thoughts and fantasies. Still. I am surprised God puts up with me... assuming He's not going to surprise me with something on Judgment Day.

People will attempt to avoid sin if they believe the LORD's standards when it comes to things God does not want us to do...

IS it possible for a human being to avoid all sin.. No..

We don't fight the good fight to win.. Victory is the LORD's not ours..
We fight the good fight because we love the one who gained Victory for us..

I await the day when the struggle is over, and I have a new body with a new nature, the way we were meant to be.
I know what you mean, but here's my real struggle. I almost wish that God had never created women in the first place or to begin with.

Maybe I'm crazy or something, but I get drawn into Bible stories many times as if I was there myself while experiencing what the person or persons in that account must have experienced. For example, not too long ago, I met a woman, the Filipina that I mentioned to you on another thread, who was so different from all of the other women that I've ever met before in my life, with the exception of maybe two or three other women, that I actually felt as if I was experiencing what Adam experienced when he awoke from his God-induced sleep to encounter Eve for the very first time.

I mean, think about it.

Prior to that, Adam had beheld different aspects of God's glorious creation, but here was something new, and she must have greatly surpassed all of the other beauties which Adam had previously beheld. In his case, he got to keep her as his wife. In my case, I'm only left to behold something that I almost wish I never beheld in the first place because it makes me think that I'm missing out on something that could be really beautiful. And it's not just with that one woman. There have been a tiny handful of other women as well, as few and as far between as they were, that have produced this same feeling of loss or missing out on something in me. This is why I kind of lamented to you the other day how it saddens me that there won't be marriage in the world to come. In other words, I not only miss out on having this type of companionship in this life, but it won't even exist in the world to come.

To be totally honest, I'd be happy to just have a real close friendship with a woman, even if she and I were only activity partners who just did things together from time to time. I really couldn't even care less about the prospect of possible sexual relations if such a woman were ever to become my wife. It's the companionship that interests me more than anything else.

I got invited to a gathering tonight in which most people there will be men. The women will be other men's wives. I really don't think that I'm going to go. Stinky men don't appeal to me at all.

Anyway, when I think about these things, and I've had to train myself to suppress or reject such thoughts or else I might die of a broken heart, all that I can say is that being presented to Christ as his bride one day must be glorious indeed if it surpasses what I've just described here. For now, I'm just trying to play the hand that I've seemingly been dealt in life, one day at a time.

The reason God created women was because He wanted us to produce a family that He could bless and have fellowship with, share Himself with.

I can feel your sadness and nothing i can say can fix that. Well, maybe one thing: continue to cultivate a close relationship with God like the great ones of the past (and present) have.

Perhaps consider this:

Let the intentional focus of your mind, as much much as is possible, to have your heart worshiping God, remembering His constant presence, and be aware and accept His great love for you when He choses to make it evident. Become totally owned by God.
