These are only a few of the wonders and miracles which 45 of our parishioners and I heard yesterday when we visited this Tender Heart Icon of the Virgin Mary. Fr. Mark told us that October 13th will mark three years since the icon has been exuding this holy, fragrant myrrh. And not just a drop or two. Fr. Mark began his talk by holding up the icon and walking around the church, allowing the myrrh to drip from the icon into the hands of each of us. Imagine, this icon of wood has been continuously overflowing with myrrh for three years!

Horgan: Isn’t the problem when religions say, This is the only way to truth? Isn’t that what turns religious faith from something beautiful into something intolerant and hateful?
Collins: There is a sad truth there. I think we Christians have been way too ready to define ourselves as members of an exclusive club. I found truth, I found joy, I found peace in that particular conclusion, but I am not in any way suggesting that that is the conclusion everybody else should find. To have anyone say, “My truth is purer than yours,” that is both inconsistent with what I see in the person of Christ and incredibly off-putting. And quick to start arguments and fights and even wars! Look at the story of the Good Samaritan, which is a parable from Jesus himself. Jews would have considered the Samaritan to be a heretic, and yet clearly Christ’s message is: That is the person who did right and was justified in God’s eyes.
We're called to be intolerant; not hateful but intolerant, yes. Unfortunately a lot of people automatically label intolerance hate because they can't stand intolerance. I hate to rain on this guy's parade but Christianity is an exclusive club. He needs to stop doing interviews and pick up his Bible.

Dr I dated mentioned she didn't fully believe in God until she studied the complexity of the human body and creation.
I do a lot of computer-related stuff and I work with hospitals for over 20 years.

Which Jesus: the One who died once for all or the one who dies repeatedly in the sacrifice of the mass?

All right. Odd question but Jesus died only once and doesn’t die repeatedly every time in mass or whatever you read.

How can there be a sacrifice without a victim? That is what it's called, right, the sacrifice of the mass?
It’s important to know where the miracle power comes from. Apparently, not all miraculous power necessarily comes from God. That could be a problem. The last thing anyone wants to do is invoke some kind of healing through a portrait or a statue.
All anyone needs to do is simply ask God, in Jesus’ name for it. Done. If He wants to heal you then you get it. If He doesn’t want to heal you then you don’t get it. The prayer of the righteous person avails much. Just something to keep in mind.
Another thing, don’t be afraid to just be honest with God. People aren’t perfect and sometimes their motive isn’t pure. If you secretly know you’re praying for something with ulterior motives, but you’re trying to elevate it to God thinly disguised as selflessness, righteousness, and goodness then He knows that too.
It’s better to pray something like “God, I’m sorry for being greedy, but I’m asking You for more money because I just need more to make my life easier. I know that’s not a good prayer, but just being honest with You. May Your will be done.”
Remember, just be honest. Don’t be self-righteous.
