Yes, we have all had our romantic haps and mishaps. So have our most beloved characters in literature. Of all the characters you have read about, whose romantic adventures (or misadventures) most mirror your own?

For me, it has always been the Dreamer from Dostoevsky's White Nights. Because he spends so much time dreaming, he falls in love with people who really shouldn't be his objects of affection.
 
Oh good question!! Hmmm.. Off the top of my head and probably only because it's one of my favourite books, I'm going to say Winston from 1984 and his relationship with Julia. It's secretive, based more on sex than love (as I see it) and he cares for her more than she him. But yeah good post and I'll be thinking about this for a while lol

It's not a book, but it's letters.. John keats letters to fanny brawne...
 
Jane Eyre. She stood up and made the right decission for her and her love.... she had an interesting happy ending, based in real love.

I love books, but hate books about love. Is there a book about a shy socially inexperienced guy who wants to find that unique girl who is not like the rest. Someone full of virtue, someone smart, someone kind, someone who wants to be your friend and your equal, someone who will have deep conversations about the meaning of the universe with you. If there is a book like that, I may give it a try.

The only person full of all things holy was Jesus. Forrest was shy and Jenny loved him for who he was despite all his shortcomings. She loved him before he was anything more than a favorite target of the local bullies. She even had his baby. If you don't want to be Forrest Gump, I'll gladly be him for you. He was a smart, charismatic, inspirational character who overcame many odds to rise to become more of a man than most men ever become.

I will give it a try my friend. I actually speak Russian, so perhaps I should read it in Russian. What other classics do you like?

I love books so much. Some of my favorite classics are, Sherlock Holmes books, Count of Monte Cristo, Tale of Two cities, Master and Margarita by Bulgakov, and many others. As for modern books, I also love all the Tom Clancy novels, a new one just came out. I must read it.
