That's it, that's the question :)

I'm going on vacation soon and am looking for stuff to read - suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

How long is your vacation? And are there particular subjects that interest you or just anything will do?

Stay away from B.B. Warfield. Unless you have trouble sleeping.

Two weeks - and anything will do, but if it has a nice religious element then even better!
I enjoy anything written by C S Lewis and Martyn Lloyd Jones. Francis Schaefer and Andrew Murray are excellent reads also.

Youtube: Elisabeth Elliot, not reading but good
Pretty amazing bio.......hard-core missionary work for sure.

Elisabeth Elliot - Wikipedia

She studied Classical Greek at Wheaton College, believing that it was the best tool to help her with the calling of ultimately translating the New Testament of the Bible into an unknown language. It was at Wheaton where she met Jim Elliot. Before their marriage, Elisabeth took a post-graduate year of specialized studies at Prairie Bible Institute in Alberta, Canada, where a campus prayer chapel was later named in her honor. Jim Elliot and Elisabeth Howard went individually to Ecuador to work with the Quichua (or Quechua) Indians; the two eventually married in 1953 in the city of Quito, Ecuador. In January 1956, her husband Jim was speared to death along with four of his missionary friends while attempting to contact the Huaorani tribe. Their daughter, Valerie (born February 27, 1955), was 10 months old when her father was killed. Elisabeth continued her work with the Quechua for two more years.

I have my heros and she is definitely one of them!

Another one of my heros is St. John of the Cross. 1540 wrote poetry that inspires me. He was so in love with our God. I have posted his poetry elsewhere (originally Spanish now in English).

For a day by day reader The Prologue of Orhid (Ok, Ok, strange name) has the story of many of the the early martyr saints (100-200's and 1600's etc), also has poems sermons, lots of good stuff.

One of my fav teachers (Ok heros) is Dr. R. C Sproul. Online you pay $100 for connect which allows you to watch many many of his videos. On Amazon he has many many books on a variety of topics

St. Theresa of Avila and St. Theresa of liseux wrote lots of poems (can get online) that show how much they love God...inspiring. Autobiographys to read on Amazon.

I remember what Elisabeth Elliot said: Don’t tell me you love God ….. show me!

Haha I tell Him i love Him frequently because i do. The challenge is to know what He is telling me to do and do it. (PS she is not wrong!!!!)

True words indeed. Our lives our short, our eternity is long!
