If you haven't followed the story, there's an uproar about a school where the children were allowed to view "works of art" like Michelangelo's David. The school did not ask for parental permission. I think it's just typical of how things are today. You can show young children pornography, everything showing, no questions asked. This goes right along with all the dirty books they allow kids to read. What's next? The teacher's dropping their drawers in class to show the students how everything works? "Man meets, woman, the take off their clothes, man inserts his ---- into the woman's -----".
Please, Lord, take me home now, I don't belong in this evil world!

Monty Python has already done that in their movie, The Meaning of Life (from 1983).

Would you like to expound upon that statement?
That movie was a pastiche of skits... one was of a teacher (John Cleese) teaching a boy's sex-ed class, just as you described.

I suppose that was pretty funny back in the 70's, but now it's very close to reality.

It was from 1983, and yeah, some of the skits were fairly funny, and
as always for Monty Python, well done, and certainly memorable.

Is there an issue with Michelangelo's David? I wouldn't consider Michelangelo's David to be pornography. Isn't it just art? If it was supposed to be pornography, it kind of does King David an injustice both in the small proportions and in the cultural inaccuracy given David's Israelite heritage.

Of course it's pornography. It's showing everything. It's showing what we are supposed to cover up. I would not want my children - if I had children - gazing at obscenity like that.
It seems that's what this world has come to. Or maybe it's always been this way.

Well, looks like there are still a few Victorians/Puritans.

Scripture tells us when He created man He called it "good", who are any of us to now call His Creation a perversion ?
best wishes:)

I guess I'm a prude too. While I do believe in its artistic value and have no problem personally viewing it, I believe it is in poor taste to show it to children.
It is the knowledge of sin that causes sinful desires in our flesh. Before we are aware of a sin, we never practice it. Once we learn of it, the fallen nature in us desires it.

True, it isn't a perversion of His created order in itself, the stealing of a child's innocence is a terrible thing.

Agree. But it's the reason sex education classes are self defeating. You introduce sin to a bunch of people already experiencing hormone infusions. Couple that with a predisposition to sin and viola.

There ya go. It really messed up my head to find out mom and dad had been doing what all the kids were whispering about. I thought only dirty, nasty, bad people did the deed. I still can't reconcile that in my brain - that the people who are nice and polite and respectful in publc can get down and dirty and do all the things I've been warned NOT to do all my life.
I don't get why there is so much nudity in art. Make a sculpture of a naked person, with all the private stuff showing, and they call it art. Take a photo of a naked person and they call it pornography.
I guess some people want to go back to the garden of Eden.

It's not that I don't believe that images of the human body isn't artistic and beautiful. I just recognize that we live in a fallen world and that things sexual are easily corrupted from their creation intention.
People seem to believe that anything that limits sexual expression in negative, but it's actually desirable. Consider the restrictions placed on water by mountain passes and river banks. They do restrict the water and limit where it goes. But these restrictions give the water greater power and direction. Much like God's restrictions on intimacy restrict it's flow, but gives it greater power in its proper expression...marriage. The restrictions aren't designed to limit expression, but strengthen it. When done with marriage, intimacy has the power of a flood with all the adventure of white water rafting. I suggest getting a helmet and a paddle.

Well, I'm not married. Maybe if I was, I would see things differently. But I'm not, and I don't care to see people's private parts - even on statues or in paintings. I find those parts of the body to be ugly, gross, nasty! It's true we all have to urinate, defecate, but I don't invite other people into the bathroom to watch me.

Of all of David's parts on display, the little guy disturbs you because he is just hanging out with the rest of the parts? I can see it how it might be porn if it seemed, interested, but he isn't doing anything but relaxing with the knee and the armpit...

Apparently, God saw fit to create what He did. He said it was good. He liked it so much He repeated it across zoological creation.
Probably a good thing then that you are not married.

How old are you? You sound about 14.
