for a very strange but good imagined view of an authist's world : Mark Haddon: The curious incident of the dog in the night

for realistic books about soldiering/ the military: Andy McNab. For instance Brawo Two Zero and Seven Troop
(warning: seven troop has some bashing of a Christian, but it is part of what he has experienced, not directed at Christians in general, the story is true)

for children's- books that have morale without "preaching": Astrid Lindgren. For instance Mio my son and Ronia the robber's daughter

Is the Prophet a christian book? I was going to read it one time but i thought it seemed new-agey or like non-christian spiritual type stuff! Do you recommend it? :)

Well he wrote it in early 1920's, so take it for what's it worth. I very much recommend it, but I read all kinds of things. I think if anything, it helped me to deepen my faith at a time when I thought God had forsaken me. I re-read it at least once a year. :)

I also lurve lurve lurve Max Lucado if that lends me any credibility. :)

Just picked up Vindicating Lincoln by Thomas Krannawitter. I'm surprised no such text has been written yet.
