Dunk, Sprinkle, Splash, Drip/dry …… or Dry cleaned.

It’s an ongoing question/debate as to which is appropriate for today.

I am sure this makes some people groan ☹~Ugh~☹ “here we go again”. …which is fine …just turn the page….. But there may be some who vacillate with drip/dry because they just don’t know.

My perspective will be quite evident in what I post. I’m not saying I am right or wrong …but since our only source of Truth… being the Word of God … It is to that we should adhere…. Churches, denominations, or religions …do not supersede Gods written Word.

Water baptism mentioned 3X in Acts

#1

Act 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

Act 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

Act 8:38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

It was the Eunuch that asked for water not Philip. (keep in mind…. this was Philip the evangelist not the Apostle)

Act 10:46bThen answered Peter

Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Oops! ….Oh, now I remember↓

Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

It’s not hard to imagine Peter with his zeal in this account …Particularly after hearing Gentiles (dogs) speak in tongues…Which is probably why he got carried away and did a water baptism …. especially with Gentiles…. to make sure all the bases were covered……. But he did realize his error.

(From Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence)

Act 19:2 He (Paul) said unto them, Have ye received the holy spirit since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any holy spirit.

Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

(Supporting scripture for #3 Mar 1:8, Mat 3:11, Luk 3:16,)

Moments before Jesus was taken up, He instructed the 12 Apostles what the baptism (under the new covenant) was going to be.

Act 1:5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

The word BUT is a contrasting conjunction setting in contrast that which was just spoken. Jesus DID NOT use the words “in addition to water” … instead He said “But Ye shall …”

In the vernacular ….. When the greater comes the lesser is done away with …And it changed because there was a new covenant installed on/at Pentecost … water is inferior to what is now a far superior and truly internal….forever!

The movement away from water…. to the name of Jesus Christ was a big transition…one of many. The baptizing in the name of Jesus Christ IS the full emersion in everything Christ represents and accomplished. … Water doesn’t come anywhere near to what that name represents it was a baptism of repentance …But people still want to do works to appease the human nature of self-righteousness. And at the root of every religion is a works base doctrine, which is why many denominations want perform water baptism…even if you have been baptized previously…. How absurd is that?

God knows the word “water” He used it about 363 x in the Bible. It is not an ellipsis when the word baptism is mentioned without water in the epistles … It is not there… because God is not referring to water baptism… He is referring to spirit baptism…

God’s word is clear…. Spiritual dry cleaning involves everything His name represents and every accomplishment that was made unto us. If you want to make a splash with God …Just walk with the believing, power, and authority you have been given.

I certainly agree that Jesus makes a distinction between earthly water and the water He gives .:)

Just quoting the above because I was baptized twice... once as an infant, and then again as an adult after I repented of my rebellion
and defiance toward the One True God, came to believe in the shed righteous blood of Jesus Christ, and surrendered my life to Him

I am sure this makes some people groan ☹~Ugh~☹ “here we go again”.
That made me laugh .:giggle:

its very simple: Matthew 3:16,17- "and Jesus, when he was baptized, went UP, STRAIT WAY OUT OF THE WATER......" to go up & strait way out you had to be IN IT (the water). at all means possible this is how one is to be baptized. if not possible, then sprinkling because God understands someone's health condition.

Jesus' last words, his last instruction to his disciples....

19 [g]Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,

if the baptism of the Holy Spirit is the only one that matters, why would Jesus, who knows everything, tell is disciples to baptize all the nations? The Greek word for baptize is (I think) baptizo.... which means "to immerse"..... He is very obviously not talking about the coming baptism of the Spirit..... why would you baptize someone in the Spirit, in the NAME of the Spirit? He was absolutely describing the only baptism any of the disciples knew of at that time.... immersion in water.

Mark 1:8 I baptized you [f]with water; but He will baptize you [g]with the Holy Spirit.”
Both baptizes here mean to dip, or immerse, as in full immersion.

Romans 6:3 Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His
death? 4 We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was
raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have
been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.

Ephesians 4:5-6
And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body, but
the pledge of a clear conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Who has gone into
heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers subject to Him. 1 Peter 3:21-22

Right on, to hell with what the church has been doing/teaching for 2000 years, and proper exegesis. What matters is what post modern antibaptists teach today.
You dont need water baptizm as Jesus taught, you can just give money to KC and live your best life now, with purpose, and Jesus can be your homeboy.

Go up can just mean ascend a slope and straightway means He didn't delay as He had no sins to confess.

Let the eisigesis begin!
Depends on what the definition of "is" is.....

Go up could also be talking about a hot air balloon..... straightway is also a part of a racetrack, so maybe they were racing in a hot air balloon....

Water is mentioned, but the actual method of using that water is never described.
