Maybe I have been going about this all wrong. We all have different beliefs The point I have been trying to make is what I thank is right or what anyone else thanks is right does not amount to a hill of beans.

What matters is what God has said in His word.

Matthew 13:10

New International Version Matthew 13:10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

Berean Standard BibleThen the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Why do You speak to the people in parables?”

King James Version And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

Who did the disciples direct this question to ? Was it to me, or to you or to some high ranking church official. No it was Jesus. What did He tell them?

Matthew 13:11

NIV He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.

Berean Standard Bible He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them.

KJV He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

This knowledge has been given to those who serve and follow Jesus. To those who have Spiritual eye to see and Spiritual ears to hear. Do you? I hope so.

Matthew 13:12

NIV Whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.

Berean Standard Bible Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

KJV For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
If you have those eyes and ears you will be teachable. Jesus through the Holy Spirit will lead you and guide you. He will never leave you wanting and like a Good Shepard He will lead you to Good Pasture.

Matthew 13:13

NIV This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

Berean Standard Bible This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.

KJV Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

Jesus is telling the disciples that most of the people then up to the present day and beyond can not see the simple word picture Jesus is giving them, they are incapable of hearing the meaning in them, and there is no way that they will walk away with the understanding of them. Unless they and us open our hearts to Him and let Him in so He “Jesus” through the Holy Spirit can give us eyes to see with and ears to hear with. That goes for those who need and are on the milk of the word, or you are a little further along and and can handle the hamburger or if you are someone that has a full set of teeth and can handle that big ol 24 oz, Rib Eye. You will find that in the 23 verse of this chapter. Have you read it. Have you understood it.

Matthew 13:14

NIV In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: “’You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

Berean Study Bible In them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled: ‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.

KJV And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

I want to say again I am not pointing a finger at anyone. This is not Keith speaking; it is Jesus speaking to His disciples and God in His love for us has seen to it that we have this word today. The Bible Gods love letter to all people.

Here is what God tells us in Hosea 6:6.

For the sake of time I am just going to use the KJV of this verse.

Hosea 6:6 For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

He wants us to love Him and gain knowledge of Him rather than sacrifice and burnt offerings.

Look at how good God is to us here; I gives us the parable and then He explains it for us. What a wonderful teaching tool for us to learn from and then pass that knowledge on to others.

Do you agree or disagree with me.

Let me know.

As Jesus said, they don't see, they don't hear, and even if you understand and then teach them, things are just like Jesus said, they don't see and they don't hear.

And yet you are MISAPPLYING what Christ said. The prophecy of Isaiah applied to the Jews at the time when Christ was on earth. Yet you have taken that and applied it to everyone today. Which is total nonsense. Here is what you said: "Jesus is telling the disciples that most of the people then up to the present day and beyond can not see the simple word picture Jesus is giving them". But you failed to say "With the exception of Christians who have the indwelling Holy Spirit, who will guide them into all truth".

And yet you are MISAPPLYING what Christ said. The prophecy of Isaiah applied to the Jews at the time when Christ was on earth. Yet you have taken that and applied it to everyone today. .[/I][/B][/COLOR]
What The prophecy of Isaiah?

Jesus teaches us with His parables, the prophecy of Isaiah Which prophecy are you referring to.

What The prophecy of Isaiah?
This prophecy: KJV And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:

Romans
11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

I have a question for both of you that have responded so far.
This prophecy: KJV And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Are you saying that sense the people in Jesus's time heard but did not understand and seeing they still did not perceive:
That fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias and so the prophecy does not apply to us today?

So, if the prophecy of Isaiah applied to the Jews at the time of Christ being on earth and not to us today are you saying the Old Testament does not apply to us today either? Can you tell me what parts of the bible do apply to me, you, anyone living today?

That is correct. The unbelieving were blinded to the meaning of those parables because they refused to believe on Him. And even now those who do not obey the Gospel will not understand what Christ was saying.

MATTHEW 13: WILFUL BLINDNESS LEADS TO JUDICIAL BLINDNESS
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

2 Corinthians 3:13-15~ We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to keep the Israelites
from gazing at the end of what was fading away. But their minds were closed. For to this day the same veil remains at the reading
of the old covenant. It has not been lifted, because only in Christ can it be removed. And even to this day when Moses is read, a veil
covers their hearts. But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s the unbelief of the gospel that leads to blindness and belief that leads to sight and continues on forever ♾️ n fact what happened to israel is an example for the church to learn from

“Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:6-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

They became blind to gods things but could see the worldly things well many people today have the same condition

at he gentiles had already been deemed unclean and unworthy way before israel was chosen they then we’re added to the group of gentiles so all men need salvstion now being born a Jew doesn’t help anymore doesn’t mean anything now they are just like gentiles and everyone needs christ

First off -----people need to understand that there is the Logos Word ----which is the written Word of God and the Jews were very familiar with the Written God Inspired Word ---the Jews knew the Old Testament Scriptures very well ----
Then there is the Rhema Word of God -------this is the meaning behind the Spoken Word of God ------

This is what they don't understand -----

KeithB ---your quote here ----Unless they and us open our hearts to Him and let Him in

I say ------Don't know who the they are your referring to here ------but we cannot open our hearts to let Him in ------

Only God can change a heart ----and we have to accept God's drawing to have our heart changed and open to hearing and seeing and to the understanding of the Rhema Word of God ------God id always pulling on our hearts to come to Him but many reject that drawing ------

KeithB your statement here -----That goes for those who need and are on the milk of the word,

I disagree with this statement ----as the Holy Spirit today knows what Rhema Word they can handle and gives them the truth of the Word as to where they are at in their Faith walk with Christ -----so their ears can hear and their eyes can see what they can handle as to where they are at Spiritually ----

“Only God can change a heart -“

thats what the message of the gospel is meant to do a God who actually tangibly loves man enough to become one of us and take on him the punishment for the worst of us even the beating and whipping and mocking and shame and torments of the cross and his walk to it.

What Jesus the lord did is meant to win hearts and minds of mankind he isn’t going to do any more to change us the gospel and what he did and said is what changes us if we won’t accept it there’s no changing us there’s no message that’s going to reach a man who won’t accept the sacrifice of Gods only begotten son there’s nothing greater to be done to change mans heart for God

it’s the gospel that the world must hear and believe that is what changes thier hesrt and reveals the true God and his great love

but frankly some folks don’t care if Jesus died for them others won’t acknolwedge he even existed others mock him and what he did for man ect

In the end us saying we can’t choose is the only thing keeping us from choosing we wait for God to force us he’s waiting for us to choose him

when we hear about Jesus and the gospel it is a great invite and we can dismiss it like this

“The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, and sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. ( he gave them a choice to attend they refused they were called but not willing )

Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: and the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. ( he gave this chosen a choice and they refused and rebelled against his messengers )

But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. ( this new group from the outside world also is simply called to attendance not forced )

So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:2-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

this new group they aren’t all perfect but they all chose to attend the wedding feast when they were invited

it’s a deception that we have no choice to choose God he suffered and died to change our hearts but it doesn’t if we don’t believe with our heart

Jesus said this ----

John 6 AMPC

I have a question for both of you that have responded so far.
This prophecy: KJV And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
Are you saying that sense the people in Jesus's time heard but did not understand and seeing they still did not perceive:
That fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias and so the prophecy does not apply to us today?
I think that applies to anyone, even though the believers.

I would like to apply one of the words that Jesus taught love your enemies,But some believers twist the meaning to suit their own interpretation.

So they read but don't see, they hear but don't hear.
This is just one of the more obvious examples.

“the Gospel cannot change a hardened heart to a flesh heart only God Can do that”

Right only God can do what Jesus did in the gospel and send that message out to all people to save them

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬

What part of the message is meant to change a hardened heart towards God ?

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Brother if you don’t believe the message of the gospel is what changes someone’s heart for God this message specifically about him laying down his perfect life to save a believers sinful life because he lives then and wants them to live forever with him as his child

if you don’t think that changes people when they hear and believe that about God the throngs Jesus and the gospel reveal to us about Gods fatherly love towards us even though we all have sinned before and by the law are condemned to die the death

If you don’t believe this particular message first and foremost and that it’s what changes a hardened sinful heart towards Gods ways , then I would humbly suggest you don’t understand as much as you think you do

Jesus dying for your sins because he loves you and wants to save you so much that he was subjected to every indignity and shame , every temptation and accusation , every lash and smack and punch they layed upon him , the thorns pressed onto his brow , they stripped and subjected him to shame and beatings whipping and insults mocking they even spit on him…….and he only went through this for the sake of anyone that will believe the gospel he sent into the world for the purpose of changing selfish , sinful hearts that thought God wanted to destroy them because they had sinned and they thought they needed to stone each other and kill one another for thier sins they thought once you sin you must die God won’t have you now ect

The gospel message revolves around and is built upon and built by impacts us of we believe this part truly before anything else this is the message of the gospel we have to come to agreement and belief of knowing and realizing ge really did all that for us this is where it starts

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:1-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

in my own opinion which your free to disagree with when you take that seriously as if Jesus do that for you and everyone else you love too , to save us from condemnation and death it should win your heart over it should win over any sinner to realize God still lives them stu so much he would give his own perfect life his blood sweat and tears to save them from what they have done themselves against his perfect will

It’s definately the reason I love God like I do anyways I am only speaking from my own perspective ( as everyone in this forum is ) but I’d say Jesus dying for me to save me is what won the sincerity of my heart if you don’t agree that’s okay

your saying the e gospel can’t change someone’s heart and mind only God can I’m saying God came in the flesh and did everything we need to be saved went the message out to the world and said believe this message and be saved

The reason he says to preach the same gospel to all People and salvation is offered to all believers is because the gospel is Gods power to do this

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth;

to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

apart of what the gospel does is change our heart turns us to love God because he loves us through what Jesus has done for us laying down his life to win our hearts to him

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

New Living Translation
“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.

English Standard Version
“Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

Berean Standard Bible
“Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they will be as white as snow; though they are as red as crimson, they will become like wool.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Come now let us (Let us: Thet would be God and whoever the other person might be) Then after we have reasoned together your sins will be white as snow; gone no longer there!
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13, KJV)
We have to come to Him; God is not going to come to us and say please come to Me.

Amen!!!

We have to come to Him; God is not going to come to us and say please come to Me

Here you show you have no understanding about the sin nature ---NO one seeks God ------God seeks us and we can accept or reject that seeking ------Many reject that seeking and only some accept that seeking By God ----God knows who's heart is ready to accept Him ---we have a nature to sin and be away from God ------we cannot seek God ----God's Face is turned from Sinners ---

So you seeking after God is fruitless
