I got a question for you Zone, and its an honest one, I hope to get an honest answer.

We know you have admitted to having never heard God speaking to you. Have you ever felt His presence at all?
continually.

well, they did find a storehouse full of goodies. he was in charge for awhile:rolleyes:.
if i recall, he did lose weight (he was bigger before the wreck).
i love my hurley.

had no cable for awhile, just a dvd player.
spent a week on a sofa bed with my teenage daughter; tons of pillows; under a down quilt with munchies and the boxed sets; a remote; curtains drawn...snow falling outside....watching LOST...right to the last episode.
Five episodes in I was done with it.
And who in their right mind would leave a fox to look after chickens, same thing leaving burly with the food. Lol
Hurley must have thought all his birthdays came at once.

One week? Munchies? Weight transfer maybe from Hurley?

eh...veggies and dip; fruit trays; a little chockie, some chips.
hot supper on tv trays.

we had only a woodstove to cook on and stay warm with.
no car at the time. no cable, no choices.
it was a good time, to be with a grown child, loving and laughing.

This thread is all about me.
Feel free to ask any questions you like about my Biblical beliefs.
Please don't hijack this thread, it's about me and my beliefs.
Q&A only please, no debate.

ask away.
Dear zone, Do you find the following words insulting, or can you find the truth in them and wake up to another way of looking at things that merely "reformed"/"Reformed" or whatever you choose to call "your biblical beliefs"?
"DELUSION
"There is a delusion shared by even thsoe Protestants who call themselves "conservative" or "traditiona;" or "evangelical". They too have reduced faith to an individualized experience. They have even gone so far as to reduce their concept of the Church to a subjective interpretation. In this regard one often hears Protestants say things like, "Well, isn't the churhc just the whole body of Christ, made up of all people who call themselves Christians?" or, "The Church lives in my heart. It's not a place or thing, it's the faith I have inside of me. I carry my own churhc inside of me." Or, "Apostolic continuity is just a spiritual continuity." The historic writings of the Fathers of the historic Church denounce all such personalized pieties with a resounding "No!" (1)
"If Christianity is true, then its truth exists independently of our feelings about it. It is rooted in history, not simply in theological ideas or subjective feelings. Similarly, if thereis a historical Church, it exists not in our hearts, but in fact, in history, time and space, just as Christ did when He walked on earth. Seen in this light, the Church's purpose on earth is to be the Christ-bearing community in the real world, not a personal, inward-oriented feeling.
"Suppose Jeuss had given anyone claiming to be a believer the authority to bind or loose in heaven what is bound or loosed on earth. Suppose each believer could proclaim himself a "church." Believing Christian brought before the Church for judgment, or to resolve their theological or doctrinal disputes, could render the whole process utterly meaningless by simply saying, "I disagree with your decision; I'm right and you are wrong. I bind my own will in hevaen as on earth. Jesus has promised me personally hat whatever is decided by me, along with a couple of like minded friends, will be backed up by God. Who elected you? This is a democracy! I decide I'm right and you're wrong. God will support me and you are now judged and found wanting. Verse so and so in the Bible says ...."
"This is, in fact, what many Protestants have done in one way or another since the Reformation. And it is the sort of argument one hearts made by protestantized and democratized Roman Catholics and even some secularized "Orthodox" who wish to "democratize" or "modernize" the historical Church or to make it more "relevant," "open" or "politically correct." We have twentythree thousand Protestant denominations to show us where this type of judgmental pietism, this individualistic, holier-than-thou, secularized and thoroughly arrogant mentality leads."

PS No personal criticism by me is meant or intended in any way by posting this quote by Frank Schaeffer. Much of the attitude expressed in it is still present in persons like me, and I have personally sinned and fallen very very short of the glory of God in Christ.
I realize pride is the enemy of the soul, and I have been proud at times. I realize I still have to become a member of the historic Church, and I have obstacles of thought and practice to overcome. I need God's mercy and grace and I need more of the sacraments of the Orthodox Church, more than just confession of sins. That's where I am at so far. I have confessed my sins to the Church. Now, I need to cooperate with the hierarchy of the Church more in days to come.
God bless all of you people, whether you are Protestant, Roman Catholic, or Greek Orthodox, or whatever.

Dear friends, More from Frank Schaeffer (2002):

"Ironically, Protestant theologians are the fathers of deconstructionism. It is they who abandoned both the historic and spiritual context from which the Bible came. Modern Protestantism had rendered the meaning of the text unintelligible beyond individual emotional responses. And so the circle of subjectivity is completed. Faith is now personalized into a "born-again experience." The Church "lives in our hearts," the sacraments are "mere symbols," and finally the Bible's "message" turns out to be a message of the sort madmen "hear" in their minds when secret voices "speak" things to them that no one else can hear.
"According to the historical Church, the questions we should ask before reading the Scriptures are: "To whom were these marks addressed? In what context were they spoken? What preceded them? What came after? And most important of all, "How are these teachings interpreted by the Church Fathers, the men who were closest to the source -- men who, in many cases, knew the Apostles?"
(DANCING ALONE: The Quest for Orthodox Faith in the Age of False Religion. Salisbury, MA: Regina Orthodox Press. Regina Orthodox Press Online Store page 196.).

God bless us everyone. Amen. In Erie PA Scott R. Harrington

Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

Romans 3:24
and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

justified means a full aquittal.
never to be retried.

salvation is God's doing.
if it were left to us we couldn't be saved.

we are completely secure because God is doing this for His glory.

Romans 8
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

I agree also I learned recently that we confuse our loss of a fellowship with Christ with a loss of a relationship with Him. Like parents we may grieve our human parents and we may not talk to them, but we'll always be related to them. Same with God once we are sons and daughters through Christ we don't stop being in a relationship even if we mess up the fellowship with Him. :D
