Wasn't Jesus born sometime in Spring? Or was that John? That's what I've read, anyway. (You know that if you read something, it must be true.) Yeah, I think it was John actually, but from what I recall, Christ supposedly was not born in December. :o

No one was debating the date of his birth..silly! ;) Presumably if we celebrated it in spring, it would still be called "Christmas," lol. :cool:

We had a cafeteria worked at my university that said this each day, and even had a verse of the day.. He was by far one of the kindest people I've ever met.. He had a heart attack one day while walking to church.. That was unfortunately the last of him... But seeing him smile and hearing him say "Too blessed to be stressed" along with giving a "Verse of the day" really impacted a lot of students.

Some estimates put Jesus's birth in the month of Tshri during or around the feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). This conclusion is arrived at by calculating Zecharias's priestly duties ( he was a Levite ) at the temple and when he would have returned home to conceive John the Baptist. This would place John the Baptist's birth during Spring and possibly during Passover. Jesus was conceived 6 months after John the Baptist (Luke 1:24-27). This will give you a Fall birthday (possibly during Tabernacles) for Jesus.

When someone says "God won't give you more than you can handle." Um... If this were true, then we wouldn't need to lean on and trust in Him in the first place.

Nope, going to stick with hate. I am not hating a PERSON, but hating an action that someone is doing or a band or a food, etc etc. I find many Christians pull that card and it's obnoxious :p

I have spoken in tongues as have many others on here.Whats wrong with that? There's an old hymn that says "there's power in the blood. Is that wrong?

I could be wrong, but I think where Nautilus was coming from on this is those persons who come across as if they're making a big show of it (I've encountered those types) and praying "the blood of Jesus" every other phrase in a prayer as if saying that phrase enough somehow makes their prayer more powerful.

I would add to that those persons who insist on saying "Father God" every other sentence in a prayer. I mean really, do you think that He forgot who you were talking to? Just one of my pet peeves I guess because I was taught to speak to my Heavenly Father like I would talk to my own father and I sure don't say "hey Dad" every other sentence when I'm talking to him.

My Christian pet peeves include 'Christianese'.

We don't have periods or chapters or phases, we have "seasons".

We don't cry, we "weep".

I get nauseous when I hear this crap.

I also don't like it when Christians declare that they surrender "all". Do you really? Are you prepared to lose everything that matters to you in life and still believe that God is good and His will is best?
