How would you know he was a "bona fide prophet"?
Good question.

Obviously, if the prophecies he or she gave were not true, then I would stone them to death.

You must test the spirit to know if they are truly inspired.

I have three great examples of prophecy given to people that changed their lives.

I have never been given a prophecy, I have been neglected by God as probably most of you are also.

I see the gifts a bit differently to you.

There are specific ministries that are given by the Holy Spirit to various members of churches.

For example, a minister may have a direct appointment by the Holy Spirit. That tenure will last decades.

Prophecy can be given to someone to speak to another or to a group. It may be temporary manifestation of prophecy for a purpose. Yet, in the New Testament some are actually prophets, they have a prophetic ministry. Same goes for evangelists, some are lifelong evangelists. Evangelism is a ministry in it's own right. Evangelism is not specifically mentioned in the scripture but think of it, as similar to apostles. They both (apostles, evangelists) preach the gospel to unbeliever's.

I agree, that a prophetic word is subject wholly to the Holy Spirit.

I wish I could find a church with a bona fide prophet.
I can only assume you need to pray for this but in prayer via waiting on the lord in hope, somehow I don't think a quick wish will help.

But really the prophets of the old testament did not have the fruits of the spirit and they where not born again, so yes when the spirit filled them it was like being born again but it was only temporary.

It's different now because the believer has the indwelling of the fruits of the spirit permanently so communication in prayer is easier for a message to come to.

I really believe that all Christians can deliver a direct message from Jesus. Whether it's interceding or a prohhetic word that may prevent some kind of danger.

And I strongly believe in the fact many people report seeing Jesus or an angel just befor they die.

Where I feel strongly the spirit of prophecy is upon them.

still choosing to be dishonest .
no this was my very first reply about this source that I posted with good intentions, which I had to find in my folder of over 500 documents related to Prophecy which took me a while

This is my very first reply.

What's an SDa and my source of information is a 12 months study at least

Can you see I say my source.

It does not say my writing.

It's says my source.

Source mean a place where you got your information from.

And now who's being dishonest ?

Honestly vultures looking for death springs to mind in this place
And so many of you will not answer any honest questions or swallow your pride when your wrong or own up to your own mistakes or accept the truth when you get shown something very beautiful to make you see,

And this is because a lot of you don't seek the lord befor you speak.

Do you seek the Lord before you are dishonest ?
I have given you 3 questions to answer 3 posts to you and they have been fair honest questions in a manner that would be comfortable with no insinuations what so ever for you to answer

But yet you haven't answered one of them,

On the other hand you have asked me on three occasions 3 insinuating questions.

Which I have answered but yet you will not take those answers,

This is because you only want the answer your looking for and this is how it is with lot of you here.

It seems many of you have your own doctrines and own ideas of How God is or how God conducts his affairs how God speaks and how God views certain doctrines.

But yet on times people accuse peoples of not following the lord and following a doctrine incorrectly because the person who made the judgement call has made errors in there life concerning the wrong Judgement call.

And so a decent seven day adventist who posts a scripture repeating the words of Scripture in Jacob totally unrelated to Saturday being 7th day of the week.

Should be discredited about repeating the words of Jacob because he believes Saturday is the seventh day of the week ?.

And this view point is coming from people who are making wrong Judgement calls all the time.

Jacob was dieing the spirit of prophecy was poored out upon him. And he prophesized to each son individualy and personally.

In the new testament for people in there dieing days in the last days, will have the spirit of prophecy poored out upon them where they will prohesize in the same manner as Jacob no doubt. The prophecy says even your sons and daughters will prohesize.
But this is indicating those sons and daughters won't be saved.

But wait the new testament prophecy has allready happend with Jacob.

So this means Personaly prophecy is also for people dieing in there last days so they have an opportunity to seek the lord befor they die or to help the sons and daughters of the dieing parent which is relevant for today.

And since there is probably a million people dieing each day in the world that's a million people having personal prophecy each day poored out upon them

Who was this decent Seventh Day Adventist who posted Scripture repeating the words of Jacob? .

I think you discredit yourself when you constantly misrepresent yourself and
others, claiming you have said things you have not, and falsely accusing others.

So again your above assertions just come across like more misrepresentations.

Because they are.

Allowing one to elude to being a prophet of God and then to be dishonest is much sadder then pointing out the sin.

Ezekiel 33:29-33 KJV
Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.
[30] Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the Lord.
[31] And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.
[32] And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.
[33] And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

this is not accurate either because I have never claimed I was a prophet, but I doubt you will acknowledge this either.

All I have ever said is I feel the spirit of prophecy has spoke through me and I get dreams about the future that come true.

All I have said Is a Christian can get a direct message from a Christian through Jesus, the spirit of prophecy is Jesus

Christians are told to seek the spirit of prophecy so what does this mean ?.

Corinthians
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.

Prophets don't exist no more because the holy spirit can now relay messages through all Christians.

So this is the truth

Is there is no end to your dishonesty ?
Nope. And there won't be. I wonder that this nonsense is still allowed to continue here. I am positive most here recognize there is nothing genuine in all the attempts to put himself forward as a prophet.

It shrieks fake

Agree the ignore button works great. Shysters in the name of the Lord for money or ego etc. i believe should be spoken against. Most often their own words will show their spirit, which has in this case. Then comes the time for shaking the dust, in forums i see that as the ignore button. :)
