It’s SONday! … another day to praise the Lord! Yep, that’s right because it’ll cheer you right up—even before that first cup of coffee! I’m meditating (selahing) Proverbs 4:23, as it affects how we live our daily lives. It says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” See there? That’s what it says. We’re to guard our hearts so they don’t get hurt—keeping them pure and still and peaceful and joyful and renewed daily in His Word.

I’m all cheered up! :)

I’m reminded of David’s words in Psalm 51 begging God to create a clean heart within him. David’s own experience with sin had taught him how painful it is to be stained with guilt and ashamed before his Father. So he prayerfully repented, and God answered his prayer. God gives us a clean heart, too, when we repent and turn to Christ.

Psalm 51:7-13 (NKJV)

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me hear joy and gladness,
That the bones You have broken may rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins,
And blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence,
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners shall be converted to You.

Once our hearts have been cleansed and our innocence restored by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus promises His peace so that our hearts will never need to be troubled again by the cares of the world.

John 14:27 (NKJV)

27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Philippians 4:7 (NKJV)

7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

And a special thanks, too, @selahsays , for the reminder to renew our hearts daily in the Word. Daily Good News is much better than the daily world news!
