Well... I do believe we will be taken up at some point. the Bible's kind of clear on that. When it happens is open to disagreement (I'm post-trib myself). But.... I agree 100% with you that Christians are so heavenly minded that they're no earthly good. And, that's deeply lazy and immoral.

I feel like the church is just beginning to see the results of what you have expressed in this statement, I am just not sure we can survive what is about to come our way, but I do believe there will always be a remnant to carry God's word forward.

The world is never going to take us seriously. They're never going to understand why we think homosexuality is wrong or trans and many other things. What we believe is foolishness.

Actually Christians used to be a force for good in the world. The "Scandal of the Evangelical" by Noll,
presents a pretty strong case of explaining why Christianity is no longer a force for good in the West.


Not everything in scripture has to be used when we know there are other ways to more effectively discipline a child.
Anyway not gonna go on about it.

Well I haven't read it so I can't say much. But based on the title, that's a pretty big assumption. Odd that evangelicals were targeted. Will have to see if I can look that up and see what it's about.

I think when people think of spanking they think of abuse, that is not what I am talking about. It's not something to be misused and something the church should be speaking on since it's mentioned as a way to train a child in the Word . Either way we do agree discipline is a part of the issue.

LOL, the book is called "The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind"

I thought I was good to go and be on CC after two cups of coffee, apparently not!! :D

It really lays out all the positive contributions of the evangelicals back in the day and how we have lost so much traction over the years.

Of course the Romans did not see their world crumbling around them until it was too late and we are pretty much in the same place presently.

I am not against spanking it is only effective before words and reason (terrible twos times) after that not really needed.
But without a doubt so many problems with how people parent these days, it is very troubling.

I can't do coffee, gives me heart palpitations, so I have to come here "sober", imagine how I feel. :p I'd actually agree, spanking is more for safety in youngsters. I don't recall getting spankings but according to my parents I was given a few. Past a certain age we'd agree it has no use.

Since I can't read the book I can't make a comment. I was looking up some reviews and since I haven't read it, I'm reading others opinions of it. https://christianscholars.com/the-scandal-of-the-evangelical-mind-with-a-new-preface-and-afterword/ Maybe since you have read the book you could comment on this article. If you wish of course, once the coffee does it's thing.

Time and history will tell the tale. Unfortunately, that's only in our rear-view mirror. But, the people of 1941 didn't know how WWII would end either. They just fought their brains out. So, that's all we can do, too.
