To Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.

Genesis 10:25
1 Chronicles 1:19

IMO I think the land mass was all in a single location and when the world was divided it created the Ring of Fire, earthquakes amd volcanoes.

Peleg was born in the year 1757 from creation and 100 years after the flood and died in year 1996

Your basic premise is sound. Your dates are way off.

Excuse me for butting in, but how do you know his dates are "way off"? I use the Sabbatical and Jubilee chart from sightedmoon.com because Mr. Dumond has published 45 proofs of when the sabbatical and jubilee years land based on tombstones, coins, and historical documents. There are more than the 45 proofs and is in the process of publishing soon.

Most scholars know that the Jewish calendar begins in the year 3761 BCE and purposefully left out 4 kings that total to 75 more years.

Here are the links to the 45 proofs 45 proofs with documentation.

Here is the link to view the entire 120 Jubilees starting with Adam in year "0" after creation (AC) and year 3836 BC. 3836 BC to 2045 CE/ 120 Jubilees

According to these "PROOFS" Omegatime is absolutely CORRECT.

@Cameron143 If you have some other "proof" for the dates, please share with us. Just saying he is wrong does not benefit anyone.

My apologies. I misread how the dates were recorded. Carry on.

It's not about the land being physically divided, but rather divided by the races of man, each to his inheritance and portion. dtivking closely to eachother on a basis of race and language. The implication of the verse abotu the Earth being divided is that the Tower of Babel event happened around the time that Peleg's generation was born. How the Earth is divided is by race, detailed in the chapter 10 listing the names of the fathers of al the races and ethnicities. Chapter 11 starts flowing into this by giving us the story of the Tower of Babel before returning to the specific geneology from Shem down to Abraham, which sets the next phase of the Genesis narrative that largely focuses on Abraham's life and calling by God to go to the land of Canaan where God promises to give the land to Abraham and to make many races out of Abraham (who for much of the narrative is childless and old).

That is quite informative and seems a very likely and rational explanation .:D

Thank you!

Ham was Nimrod's grandfather, son of Cush. Peleg was born 4 generations after Shem so there is several gerenerations between Nimrod and Peleg. Also no mention of the confusion of languages and the division of the world at same time
