Yeah.... right. No, it was a reason for all the women to buy a new dress.....

Do YOU think that Jesus cares what we wear, or how we dress? Do you think he loves us more if we dress to impress?

If you DO think that, then you need to go back and read more about Jesus....

I think I should go buy me a new Mercedes convertible to go to Easter Sunday worship services.... so I can present myself specially reverent..... SMH....
God especially likes convertibles because we can better enjoy His creation.

i loved this song when i was running from God but realized she's actually making fun of God here and how she see's the Church operating.

this was her Last Song:
recorded, 3 days before she was found dead on.

On this day in 1970, she died of an accidental heroin overdose and was discovered in her Los Angeles hotel room after failing to show for a scheduled recording

I wonder if this song will be presented as facts against her on Judgement Day?

Yeah.... I was there, too. Does it make any more sense to celebrate the risen Savior by buying a new dress than it does to celebrate by letting children hunt easter eggs?
YES

Ester Sunday was just about the only time we got a new dress mom made them . Most my clothes were from the WMC's or hand me downs from our aunt to my sister then me. It was kinda nice to be presenting my best for the Lords resurrection Sunday.

Never cared for the ester bunny rabbits dont lay eggs, country girls know that. As a kid i could not see a connection of bunnies to the death and resurrection of Christ . nor did i know there was any connection to some goddess. Santa, although i do not remember ever believing in santa has a slim connection the 'birthday gifts' to the gifts given to Him.

IMO all the above you listed are sins and why Christians suffer sickness over time as the unrigteous do,, but does not effecct salvation

trees, games, and eggs are not the problem. Sin is. The legalism that is perpetuated by those of the church is done only to control people. Yet those same people hide their drinking, smoking, pornography, and perversion. They attack trees and eggs but will not deal with the perversion in their own hearts. Hypocrites Jesus called those types.

Ask them what outreach have done that was successful where they saw people saved, delivered, and healed? They have no testimony of that; why? Paul said to be all things to all men that we might WIN some.

So a plastic egg with Jesus' loves in it that a child find in a easter egg hunt and brings that egg to the platform and is shown the love of God and the parents come to see what their child gets and hear for the first Time:

" has anyone ever told you that Jesus loves you and God has a plan for your life?"

Then pray for them and ASK THEM WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW THIS Jesus who loves you and lead them to Christ? They get saved, baptized the following Sunday, and bring others to church with them.

That was done with a plastic egg, and God used it. I will do an easter egg hunt every year, Lord Willing, because the fruit and God's Blessing are well seen. My God knows my heart, and IF I eat meat given to Idols, I thank my God before I eat it.

And if one is immature in the Lord and an egg causes you to stumble? I will not invite you to work in outreach. Because if a plastic egg causes you to stumble, I'm sure :

being around
  • Drugs addicts
  • Prostitutes
  • Drunks
  • Gang bangers
  • Bikers
  • Homosexuals
  • homeless

Will be a problem for you.

i loved this song when i was running from God but realized she's actually
making fun of God here and how she see's the Church operating.
Songfacts says, The song is a social commentary on how many people relate happiness
and self-worth with money and material possessions. Sung a cappella in a blues style,
Joplin was poking fun at the mindset that luxury goods will make everything better.
This song spoke to the shift in the counterculture, as some of the impoverished
musicians speaking out against the system were now very rich.
Nothing about the church...

Oh, good grief.... she's not making fun of God, she's making fun of materialism.... and she's making fun of people that think that God will give us any trivial, superficial thing we want if we pray for it.....

Okay...
So, what exactly is it about Easter bunnies and Nicholas of Myra that God finds distasteful, in your opinion? Distraction alone? My cats distract me all the time... should I get rid of them?

I think that kids should be given "right" instruction from their parents... not a cartoon about Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer, or a Macy's advertisement.

So, you tell me, whose "fault" it is.
Yes, the parents should be the main source of biblical instruction, but the church should not promote untruth.

Depends on how you're taught. We knew what Christmas was about, and it wasn't Santa. My almost always took in people who were alone, people new to the church, one year they took in a single mother her four kids and bought all of them presents. My parents were rich by any means. But they taught us to be givers.
I just know from experience that around December, if you mention the birth of Christ, kids don't get much excited. But, when you mention Santa is coming...watch their faces light up.

Again, all in the teaching. We knew there was no Santa Claus, that our parents bought the gifts, and that we were not rich. I recall the "cabbage patch kids" Christmas frenzy. Neither my sister nor I even asked for one, we knew it was too much to ask.

My bad...they are pleasing to God...God loves Santa Claus and the Easter bunny.
Really John do you realize that some folks might consider you to be lying. I dont. Your post #84 and this one are opposite. When holding to THE LAW when holding other accountable to strictness that can not be Scripturally supported you should hold your self there also.
