HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY (4th of July) TO ALL: (Yes, this also has to do with the Bible)
I'd like to wish all a Happy 4th of July, Independence Day celebration. As we all know, the United States of America was not always called that. Before 1776, they were 13 colonies that were under British rule. The leaders of the colonies got together and wrote the "Declaration of Independence" and sent it "ocean mail" to King George of England. He didn't like that very much, and in response, the War of Independence began. After 8 years of war, in 1783, the war came to an end with the Treaty of Paris. (1775-1783) Now, the British colonies became known as the United States of America. They were free of unjust rule under Britain and were free to govern themselves through state representatives and one president.
About 3500 years earlier, there was another nation that lived under the rule of a tyrant. That nation was "B'nei Israel" (The Children of Israel). They lived in the colony called Goshen near the Nile Delta. Pharoah was a cruel taskmaster and make them work without pay. Slave work without representation. Yet two representatives came with an oral letter from Adonai to "Let Israel Go" (Moshe and Aaron). Yet, like the King of England, Pharoah refused to give "B'nei Israel" their freedom, so, the war began. No pistols, swords, cannons, nor muskets were used. The weapons of choice were fire and brimstone, frogs, lice, darkness, locusts, sickness, sores, bloody water, and death. Unlike the colonists who did the fighting, Adonai himself did the fighting all by himself. In 1775 it was "The Colonies vs King George of England." In or around 1450 B.C.E, it was "Adonai vs Pharoah of Egypt" End result; the American colonies won, and Adonai won. The colonies were free from oppression, The Israelites were free from oppression. The colonies elected George Washington as their first president. Adonai (YHVH) became the Celestial King of Israel. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution became the governing charters. The 10 Commandments, and later, the whole Torah became the governing charters of Israel, and for ALL of us who believe and are counted as part of God's people.
About 2000 years ago, on the 14th of Nissan, the same day as Independence Day in Egypt for Israel, another independence event occurred. It occurred on Calvary's Hill. God came to earth dressed in flesh, blood, and bone. His name was "Yeshuah" (Salvation) and he paid the ultimate price of freedom for all mankind. His death freed us from the curse of sin and death. The gift of freedom would be for all who would believe and accept this article of freedom. Do you accept this freedom? Do you accept independence from the curse of sin and death? If so...
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!
Just a little place to sit and think, to read and study, enjoy God's handiwork and presence.
