Cults are never cults to people who are in them... :)

In the gospels, Jesus was thought to be a cult leader by the Pharisees, who said he was "speaking against Moses."
In Acts, Christianity was thought to be a cult, or sect, by the religious establishment of the day.
The word has a specific meaning which came from Latin.

The word now has been basically been rendered meaningless, anyone who belongs to a movement, a religion etc., etc., is now a member of a cult.
Repeat: the word is meaningless since it means everything and nothing.

I'm a Christian. I'm not in a cult. I've been set free. Cultists aren't free, they're trapped. As for anyone who believes Christianity is a cult, I feel sorry for you. You have neither understood the gospel nor experienced the freedom we have in Christ. Seems like a signs of the times we're in where people think the grace of Christ is a cult.

Yea Maybe but generally cults don't think there cults, like witchcraft in buda or any religion or religious person that uses the beliefs to curse, like say voodoo or Budda or even any religious person.
most of them are not even the real deal and when they are it is alaws demonic demons dont work for free though so a sacrifice or invitation is usually what it comes down to

That's just one very limited definition. You seem to have an agenda to label Christianity as a cult. Why is that? I'm curious what motivates you.

The definition of a cult and not seeing a cult as necessarily a bad thing. The Worship of Jesus is very much good for you and the strict definition of a cult does apply to the worship of Jesus.

The negative connotation of the word "cult" is a media driven piece of rhetoric. Just like the term "Christian" or "Hebrew" was once not a nice thing to refer to someone as. These were once bad words in their respective societies...no different than some of the toxic labels we can know of in today's society. Calling someone a "Karen" is not exactly a nice title....unfortunately I happen to know some women who have that as their proper name. They are not "Karens" but their name is indeed Karen. The negative connotation of their name is media rhetoric.

We don't call Atheists, Wiccans, Buddhists, Muslims, or Agnostics an Antichrist because it's "impolite" to do so. But strictly speaking they are AntiChrists.

I still don't know what your motive is and now I simply don't care. If you think you're in a cult then I guess you are. Enjoy your cult. I'm not. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, not a cult leader.

Well what is YOUR definition of a cult and how is Christianity different from a cult? (I'm using the dictionary definition and apparently many are not)

If you are going to make a distinction between the two I'm curious as to how you are making it.

Your beliefs are lining up with Satanism. :(

Cult is not the correct word but I do understand where you are coming from. Christianity is no longer what it was originally meant to be Resident alien mentioned it being a sign of the end times and he was correct about that. love would wax cold that is something that even babes in Christ know is the most important thing.

If you look at how we are as a system designed we have God as our idol no Christian by mere title or heart would deny that however it has become more about being doctrinally correct denominations interpretations twisting of words and scriptures not many go out into the field anymore or go to the wilderness with him we don't seem to go outside our comfort zone much anymore either

The enemy knows better than anyone what Jesus meant when he said a kingdom divided cannot stand. You win wars not by force but by tactic you confuse plant seeds of doubt among the army suscpision then when divided as they all are divided amongst themselves in confusion that is when you know you have won before the battle even starts.

We have all this divsion all this confusion all this stuff we warned about and how many see the system we have encaged ourselves in?" Is the fruits of the enemy or God in that system? There is one truth one Body one true living God, we prove who he is not by our theoooooooooooooolgy or what denomination we abide by we prove who he is by coming together in Christ with our every motivation every thought every word every belief we have all focused on him if our eyes are not fixated solely on him then no matter what doctrine or beleif or anything we have will be the real thing you cannot look at the road in a car to your destination and look to the left or the right.

If you're going to quote me, don't misquote me. I said it's a "sign of the times we're in," not the "end times."

Okay. What are some of the reasons for why you think this?
Because it diminishes the holy spirit and is more about doctrine. Doctrine in itself is not bad it is by definition sound biblical teaching.

What some may call doctrine but diminishes God's spirit is exactly what a cult does.

My mom grew up with parents of such the damage is still there and she is almost 60

To have a connection to the holy spirit and operating in the gifts such people deny does more damage to people they may even like my mom stop operating in them because of it.
A cult focuses on the teaching of the cult more so than it does the God of the cult in most cults it is about sloly doctrinating them to where they lose their sense of worth and cwhen the holy spirit is dimished so is our understanding of our worth we become more reliant on the teachings and so prayer and miracles don't happen as they should
