NEW CREATION
(Written by me to teach to the new covert class I have in my home)
2nd Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
I believe that we were born with a ''sin nature'', as in a natural instinct bent towards sin, but God has in our new birth given us a new nature. After salvation it is no longer ''natural'' for us to sin, it is against our nature. Now that we have been born again and receive the Spirit of God, we have also the nature of God with in us, and everything we are reviles sin, and wants to obey God. If your nature has not changed, then you probably have not been born again.
You MUST be born again
John 3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Through Adam's sin came death, sin is death, spiritual death (separation from God ). When we are saved (reborn) our spirit becomes alive. When we are born, our body is born with a living soul but a dead spirit. When we are saved our spirit is born. Consequently, to get to heaven we must be born again. Rebirth makes us a new creation in Christ Jesus.
The new man is in the image of God.
Colossians 3
9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Adam was created in the image of God Himself with a living spirit. When Adam sinned his spirit died, and those born after Adam were born in the image of fallen man. However we who have been redeem again bare the image of God through Christ, by our spiritual rebirth
Put on Christ Jesus, and make no provision for your flesh
Romans 13
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
The claim that we are all sinners even after salvation because as humans we are bond by our sinful nature is simply untrue and furthermore does exactly what scripture tells us not to do, it makes provision for your flesh
Crucify the old man and walk in newness of life.
Romans 6
1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Walking in newness of life can only be achieved as we allow God to take over our hearts, mind and actions. It must be Christ living in us and through us. As Paul clearly states in Romans 7 we are incapable of doing whats right. However if we are dead to self, alive to the Spirit with Christ living within us, and for us then we are capable of living without sin.
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Galatians 5:I6 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
The old man is corrupt, the new man is righteous and holy
Ephesians 4
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
As I stated earlier we are born in the likeness of fallen man corrupt, bent toward sin, but when we are reborn our spirits becomes alive. Our spirits our not corrupt but fashion in the likeness of God righteous in all our ways, and holy (separate from the world, and the lust thereof)
A new heart
Ezekiel 36
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
The first step to being perfected is to realize it is not us, but Christ is us and that we on our own would never be able to accomplish anything, only by the grace of God working is us and for us enables us to accomplish perfection. Even then it is not us, but the Holy Spirit working in us that accomplishes this, yet when we get to Heaven we get the credit. Good deal huh?
We not only have to realize that it is God working in us and not our capabilities working for themselves, but we must serve God to the best of our ability out a pure heart of love growing in intimacy with Him, and not our of religious duty to be able to become what God wants us to become in Him while remaining completely humble.
It is God who gives us a new heart, it is He that makes us a new creation, it is He that CAUSES us to be able to obey Him.
Adam is the representative of all man kind (1st Corinthians 15:22). Because we are sinners by representation (Romans 5:14) we are subject to the presence of sin in the world (Romans 7:21). Because we are sinners by nature (Romans 7:14) we are subject to the power of sin in our lives (Romans 7:18). Because we are sinners by practice (Romans 3:23) we are subject to the penalty of sin (Revelation 21:8). But Christ has redeemed us from all three (John 1:29) from the power of sin when we were saved (2nd Corinthians 5:17) from the penalty of sin as we live for Him (Romans 6:22) and, from the presence of sin when we walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16 & 24)
Thank God for His amazing Grace
Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
We have been delivered from the old man/sin nature/flesh, so that we need not obey sin any longer, but are now capable of living a righteous life before our Bridegroom King.
Colossians 3

10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
I have shed/crucified my old man/sin nature, and received a new nature, God's/Jesus' nature.
Have you?
