We are literally witnessing the great apostasy, or falling away.

Depressing and exciting all at the same time.
Are you familiar with the Reformation and the Great Awakening(s)? This isn't the first time this has happened.

RELIGION, is always trying to make some kind of copy. a gay preacher , one they don't know Jesus, two, have they not read about sodom and Gomorrah, we need to pray for them, that. they see the truth and to have a relationship with Jesus, they might know about him, but they don't know him, the need to be delivered,

RELIGION is one of those words people use as a weapon against anything and anyone they don't like or agree with. It could be a gay preacher; or, it might just as easily be someone who doesn't agree with one's doctrinal positions.

there is a difference between religion, and have a real relationship with Jesus, do you disagree?

I just think people use that word "religion" to demonize anyone they don't agree with, whether they have a real relationship with the Lord or not. It's based on faulty logic that goes something like: "You have a religious spirit, therefore you obviously don't have a right relationship with Jesus."

Religion does not mean Christian. Anyone can be religious, but only those who know Jesus as their personal savior can be Christian.

A Christian will not practice those things listed in Galatians 5:19-21

Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions,
Gal 5:21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

If you do these things you can call yourself religious, but you are in no way saved, and thus no way a Christian.

I doubt you'll ever get them to understand this. I have never been successful.

No. I’m not familiar with the Church ever sanctioning homosexual marriages, and drugs and surgery to change even kids sex.

So rather than answer, you change the subject. It happens.
Who changed the subject? I thought this was the thread about the Methodist church splitting over the LGBTQ+ agenda.

What question didn’t I answer?

And the subject IS the reasons for the split.

If you can’t see that homosexuality and transgenderism IS the reasons, I can’t help you.

Please don't bear false witness against me. I was responding to your statement, "We are literally witnessing the great apostasy, or falling away." I responded if you were aware of the Reformation or Great Awakening(s). Apostasy isn't a new thing, and there's really no evidence that it's worse now than it's been before. In fact, things have been much worse at different times in history.

Well if you could take a moment to remove that giant chip from your shoulder, you’d see that I answered and said NO!

But Whatever that entailed, it was nothing compared to what is going on now with doctrinal changes such as homosexual marriage.

So, you aren't aware of the Reformation or Great Awakenings. Got it.

Ya know, those of us slow folk that’s been here for a decade, could probably benefit from the erudation of the guy that’s been here 5 minutes, and tussles all over the place.

See my comment #54. I was responding to a specific statement that was made.
But what is the point? We have had revivals in the past and the Catholic church is corrupt. But "apostasy" means departure, specifically the church departing from the word of God. I don't think the Catholic church ever had a period of time when they were walking according to the word of God so how could the reformation be a response to apostasy? Likewise with many of the revivals in the past, they were not about the church leaving and then returning to the Lord, it was about people coming to the Lord for the first time in great numbers.

The point is apostasy has happened before, and I see no reason to believe it's worse now than every before. Revivals happened because the Church wasn't doing the job. If you're saying the Catholic church has never in history been part of the Church, then that's a completely different discussion that I'm not going to get into. I see no point.
