Psalm 119:133
New International Version
133 Direct my footsteps according to your word;
let no sin rule over me.

(image would not upload but was a picture of my windshield and a child's footprint)

What you may not see in the picture are the footprints of a child. Why would a child have footprints on my windshield I do not know. But it got me thinking about footprints.

Footprints 👣 can show us where someone has been (direction), how big they are, possibly how heavy, how they walk, and maybe what they were doing.

I pray like the Psalmist that my footsteps will provide similar direction for my children. Not to climb on cars but to provide direction, guidance, how to walk, and by my destination, I pray by the footsteps I leave behind that they may follow.

Yes, this is a father's heart but it is the heart of ministry as well. We should all be leaving footprints that lead others to Jesus.

Some days my footprints may walk with a limp, some days they may be in the form of a crawl, and others they may be spaced at an excited pace. But all in all, I do not wish to cover my tracks but that they are honest and real. They show the many times I wandered off the path which reminds me of the old story of Pilgrim's Progress.

The main character named Pilgrim would wander off the path only to find himself in great peril due to his failure to listen to the guidance of God. But each time, he would see the error in his ways, God would restore him, and he would be determined once more to follow the guidance of God.

Let it be so with my own story that I write as the author but God as my editor if I so choose Him. Clean me up from the rough draft to the final draft so that my story may be the one of struggle but ending with triumph.

May all who walk this path, walk in confidence knowing that many have gone before you, and many are behind you. We all leave footprints for someone to follow but the question becomes, where will you lead them?

Immorality? Or the narrow path of morality? Damnation or salvation? To the the prince of lies or the King of kings? You never fully know who looks to you for guidance but be one worth following. Walk worthy of the honor to lead those who choose to walk the path of righteousness. Walk worthy to call yourself a Christian.

Could I honestly say "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1)?

Definitely not at all times.

This was a thought-provoking post.

Thank you for making it.

I have to get back to working on myself.

Amen, Brother.
