You don't like them because the government is imposing this?
Or you don't like them when you see a person wearing them when the government doesn't force a mandate?

People can choose to do whatever they like. If someone decides to wear 5 masks...awesome. My resistance to masks is based on their ineffectiveness. They do not provide any protection against Covid. You are equally likely to contract Covid whether you wear a mask or not.
Wearing hard hats on construction sites saves lives. Wearing seat belts saves lives. Good mandates. Most people aren't against mandates that work. Why would anyone do something that offered no benefit? Even worse, that causes harm.

Okay, but even if it's proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that masks are useless, would you have a problem with someone wearing them as a ... fashion statement?

Well, in Japan, many folks wear masks as some people are shy there, and don't like showing their face, while others wear masks to prevent spreading a cold or flu to others.

Hold on, let's get the perspective of Trumpists first.

My first statement...people are free to do as they like. I'm a libertarian. Do what you like. But your freedom ends at the tip of my nose and my property line.

Agreed. Let's hear what they have to say. We may both disagree, partially agree or fully agree with the Trumpists, but we will give them the freedom to express their opinion. :)

That is fair as long as we acknowledge that those who support mask mandates are the Taliban

Okay, tell me more how you feel about this whole mask situation.
You don't like it as a fashion statement or you're just angry at this tyrannical government?

As a fashion statement the Taliban mandates masks for women, that is a very good example of masks as a fashion statement.

The fibers of a mask are much further apart than the size of a virus, so saying that a mask will protect you from a virus is like saying a chain link fence will protect you from mosquitoes. The idea that wearing a mask will protect you from contracting a virus has been proven to be false.

Now a sneeze guard is a good idea and social distancing of 3 feet can also be a good idea.

However, there are many very harmful effects of masks. It was terrible for children in school. Wearing cloth masks for 8 hours contributed to many respiratory problems as well as problems on their face. In addition it was terrible for mental development of children who need to see faces and read faces.

So in summary, when people are led to believe that the mask will protect them from contracting the virus, that is a lie. When they are led to believe it will help protect others that is theoretically true, but social distancing of 3 feet and a sneeze guard for cashiers is sufficient. However, there are many harmful effects of masks, especially for children and this completely condemns any mask mandate the government would impose.

Interesting perspective.
So how do you deal with this whole situation now when people wear masks? Do you pray or .... do you vent?
Also, suppose you were running the world for one day, what would you do when you see someone wearing a mask as a fashion statement?

I am aware that Trump did the Operation Warpspeed. The bad thing about this is it was called experimental which means it wasn't fully tested. No thanks I did not take it. I watched his rally last night in South Dakota. Apparently, he has a change of mind on the mask and vaccines he said "do not comply". If you want to watch his rally, I have a thread on Christian News Forum.

What's your reaction when you see someone walking down the street wearing a mask and listening to music?

I agree a cloth mask is next to useless. It would need to be a real(not knock-off) n-95 mask because it has an electrical charge to catch the particles https://www.wired.com/story/the-physics-of-the-n95-face-mask/

Where I live no one wears a mask so I don't know what you are talking about. I am not happy with the people who are fear mongering and convincing people to wear masks, I am not happy with the government mandating these, I don't care one iota about an adult that wants to wear a mask, that is up to them, but when they impose this on children I consider it to be torture. I was a high school teacher and saw these kids having to wear them for 8 hours straight.
