If Jesus did give Peter the keys and his authority has been passed down then you are a heretic for not following those rulers.
You say you do not support the RCC. Does that make you a heretic too? Or just a hypocrite? Perhaps both.

Doesn't look like it. They believe unbelieving people will be convinced of God's
authority by showing them hidden codes in the Bible, which is what this thread
was made to be about. Whereas nothing in the Bible speaks of this. Does the RCC?
I don't think so. They (OP) seem to be doing it of their own authority! LOL
So they are saying, we are to follow RCC authority, while they themselves do not.
You're lying again.

I said if their authority is legitimate then we must follow it.

And I don't spread the gospel by showing hidden codes.

How about you prove that they ARE, other than your mis-understanding of scripture.
Scripture tells us we are ALL members of a royal priesthood, which means we are under NO authority of any "priest".
I've provided plenty of proof in the last few pages.

Depending if they actually have authority or not. That's what I'm trying to find out. You could keep being annoying or you could help.

You go on and on about Jesus having given the keys of the kingdom to Peter and nobody else,
and claim there is succession from Peter to the popes etc etc. When I do a search for the word
legitimate in your post stream it only shows up once, in the post to which I am now responding.

You argue at cross purposes to yourself. How confused are you, really? .

If you think you can forgive sins against God, you are greatly mistaken.
You still don’t understand that the keys have absolutely nothing to do with the devil or judgement of sin—the keys are all about SALVATION and admittance into the kingdom of HEAVEN; that’s what the “binding“ and “loosing” is about. Look it up; you’ll see.

She, and a multitude of others, have shown that your premise is wrong. Why don't you receive it?

What about Dietrich Bonhoeffer? Hitler was the “authority”, should he have resisted or let him get on with killing Jews?
I doubt Paul wrote Romans 13:1 without having context in mind.

Then why did Jesus only give Peter the keys? Other disciples had the power to heal and perform miracles, but only Peter was given the keys.

Who was the source of Paul's authority?

You realize there are synonyms for the word legitimate?

and the GREEK Matthew is the ...as best he could translate, Version!

yay, for second best!

doesn't sound like God at all, to me
What does a kjv-only-ist who considers kjv superior to the original languages think of that argument, @NTNT58 ?

Greek is a more precise language than Hebrew. perhaps the case is that God inspired the Greek but not the original? i gather that is the argument kjv-ists will. make, when they say that particular English translation is the only truly trustworthy scripture.

nevertheless if you find something God has done to be against your personal better judgement, i would question your judgement before questioning His.

and there is no copy of Matthew in Hebrew existing today known to mankind that isn't a later backwards translation from Greek.

the fact is that God preserved Matthew's gospel in Greek, and if it was first written in Hebrew, God did not see fit to preserve it in that form.

Maybe because the true Church built upon the Rock was just getting started. And Peter (little rock) understood who Jesus was. This certainly was not the end of God’s plan.

That doesn't answer the question why only Peter was given the keys.
