What are the positives of being in a relationship? What are the minuses?

hmm, I thought it was gonna be topic a topic on would you date someone with uncurable stds or something like.

I'm not in the proper frame of mind to think of things like this objectively.

I would say a negative is not knowing how someone I'm interested in truly feels about me, Either in or out of a relationship.

I would say, not knowing what is coming up next.

I'm really bad at this.

I would have to agree with you Liamson, about not knowing how the other person feels about you. I think that is probably the most akward part. So you start dating someone, you begin to like them alot and can invision it going further but you are unsure how to proceed. When do you tell them how much you like them? Do you ignore it and just hope they feel the same way and see how it works out?

You may have to put yourself at risk. That is a very vulnerable posotion to put your feelings out there knowing they may not be reciprocated.

For me it all comes down to being really deep.

If they get it, they get me and they know where I stand. If they don't then I would have to explain it to them, which I would have had to do anyways.

So I like to do everything but say anything. I like to make it so obvious that it seems like I am the last one to know even though it was how I have felt all along. :)

Plus:

- Having someone to hang out with and have fun with

- Having someone special in your life who thinks your special too

Negatives:

- Higher phone bill

- Having to spend money to go on dates and stuff

I don't think girls would like my answer to it. :p

dot, always respect yourself enough to say how you feel in a respectful way. any woman who doesn't appreciate that, whether she agrees with you or not, isn't worth having. ;)

I took someone's advice and did just that a couple of days ago. The response? *crickets*

Not sure whether that means they're thinking it over or if they think I'm a total nutball. :D Either way, I'll live :)

Basically, I wouldn't want girl with uncureable stds unless she's been cured by God, and then tested -.

I tottally heard those crickets too. That seems so akward. I hope all goes well and if the feeling isnt mutual that you all both forget it ever happened.:D

I'm kinda thinking he didn't get it at all, Amber. haha It's okay though. It was a really stupid thing to do, but I listened to other people and went against my better judgment. Never do that

I can't imagine anyone wanting to have to make that choice. It's not exactly something that a lot of people in the world would be upfront about either, but one would hope common decency would prevail and they would tell you at some point.

If I'm being honest, it would be an issue I would have to pray about as well. I've cared for a dying spouse. It's a very tough thing no matter how much you love them and not everyone is cut out for it. It's not something I'd like to do again anytime soon, but we all grow old and it's inevitable at some point.

I don't always agree with you, dot, but I always respect your truthfulness. :)

Positives:
-The companionship is enjoyable
-Sometimes you just need a partner to help you make the journey through life, preferably someone at the same place as you so you can work together
-Loving someone on that deep of a level (I've found anyways) can make you grow a lot as a person
-It teaches you patience, understanding, and compassion

Negatives:
-There's always a chance of getting hurt since people will always be people
-There's always a chance of hurting someone else when you never intended to
-Sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince/princess

I've always found the positives outweigh the negatives, but at the same time I understand it's not something that's for everyone and it varies person to person. This is just my own perspective on it.
