I understand coming up out of the land to refer to a Jew, and out of the sea to a Gentile.
That is not the understanding that the angel gave. As I just documented from scripture, both references have to do with a beast or a kingdom arising out of the earth.

Do you believe the reference in Revelation 21:1 to no more sea is because the new heaven and earth is populated by neither Jew nor Greek, but the new creation in Christ?

Interestingly there’s a river that proceeds from the throne
“Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar.

And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river. Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed.

And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.

And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭47:1, 6-9, 12‬ ‭

“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: and they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭22:1-5‬ ‭KJV‬

I wonder if the sea is going to be restored by the river of life proceeding from the throne ?

Do you believe God is doing anything more in the book than just telling the future?
absolutely . very little of it is about “telling but the future “ it’s about here and now as much as anything

It's a good question, but I'm not sure if it's metaphorical or real. For example, is the river literal? Does it represent the life that flows from Jesus? Are the trees Christians? Are the leaves that give healing to the nations the fruit of the Spirit being exercised in believers?

The Kidron brook... the priest washed the blood from the sacrifices and the water drained out of the Temple drain works into the Kidron brook on it's east side then it ran down to the dead sea... https://www.biblestudy.org/meaning-names/kidron.html

Which would destroy the very concept of prophecy. Some prophecy has been fulfilled, but a lot of it has not been. We are still waiting for prophecies in the OD and Rev to happen.

I don’t believe anything in the Bible is metaphorical . I believe the new creation is as real as the one we’re living in now just without the corruption

Which would destroy the very concept of prophecy. Some prophecy has been fulfilled, but a lot of it has not been. We are still waiting for prophecies in the OD and Rev to happen.

a revelation is a narrative that shows us how it’s all going to be fulfilled or “ reveals “ to us that Old Testament prophecy that speaks all the way up to the end of the world

This is prophecy

“The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭24:20‬ ‭

revelation shows the destruction of it in a narrative vision and also shows the beginning of the new creation after this one is destroyed as the above prophecy foretold

Revelation leads up to this

“And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them…… And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭20:11, 15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We know this isn’t metaphorical because of the doctrine in the Bible like this

“but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:7, 10-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Rhat same doctrine is what we’re seeing in the vision what Peter ends with there our promised land is shown in the vision

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:1-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s our Hope as Christian’s brother a perfect world where agod walks among us like he did in the gospel , no more curses and death and sin and corruption no more sorrows and pain like it says there a perfect world without death cleansed and made holy by the lord

note what Peter was saying there about the earth and heaven we know now presently is going to end in a fiery destruction when the ungodly will be burned up that is the lake of fire John sees and immediately after that we’re told the old creation has passed away and is no longer remembered

the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.”

I know brother you dont like long posts but the things your asking have alot of scripture that explains it this is very basic example but there’s a lot more to be found oeter was actually writing in his epistle about the same things John saw in his vision peters last chapter there ends with the same hope of a new heaven and earth where righteousness reigns the same place John saw at the end of his vision a new world with Jesus our lord beyond and after we die

I don't disagree that they are real. I'm just not sure they are being described other than metaphorically. If eye has not seen or ear heard of the things that have been prepared, how is the description literal?
That's why I began with the question whether God is actually doing more in the book of Revelation than sharing future events.

yeah you know the eye has not seen part ? The next verses sort of shape the belief there

“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, Neither have entered into the heart of man, The things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:9-10, 12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“ us “ meaning the apostles there in Paul’s frame of speech that’s what the epistles are brother God revealing to his promises and promised land our kingdom promised by our lord ….the one that is not of this world

the things in the ot were yet hidden the nt is the revelation of those hidden things

“how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

that the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:3-6‬ ‭

remember in revelation you see only isreal sealed but then suddenly at the throne the gentile nations all appear ?

“The revelation” true name is “ the apocalypseapocalypse meaning to “uncover or to reveal “

“the question whether God is actually doing more in the book of Revelation”

what does this do in someone’s heart if they really believe it ?

“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭21:1-5‬ ‭

It creates real even visual hope of an eternal Home with Jesus right ? A perfect world where no one dies , No one is left out and no one is in pain

God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. “

see how this would give a bekieve Hope especially if they are struggling to find thier true home in this world ? Gods word has the effect of creating in our faith in o hopes and aspirations and dreams our true hope even beyond this world as we hear things it’s creating hope but true hope that will come to pass that’s one major thing he did and does with revelation it gives mortals who know they will die hope beyond death and persecution and trials and tribulations that we see the saints enduring in the narrative

Almost. The ungodly will be cast into the LOF before the OHOE is destroyed. Same day, but not at the same time. Just like the resurrection is before the rapture, the ungodly go into the LOF before the OHOE are destroyed.
