“The law and the prophets were until John:

since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭16:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying,

The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners? But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:11-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Romans‬ ‭5:12‬ ‭

Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
Luke‬ ‭13:5‬ ‭

“for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them,

Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:45-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:

Soon after In Jerusalem at pentocost Peter preaches Jesus to them and then

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Repentance isnt something yoy acchieve it is a gift given when we hear and acknowledge the truth of the gospel

“Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; and that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32, 34, 36‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God is giving mankind forebearance in order that we will find repentance and be saved

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

why we need to repent

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained;

whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:30-31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God;and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds:”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬

We need to stop serving sin and believe the things the lord taught us repent and become followers of God as Paul pleads here to the church

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; and walk in ( act in love ) love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5:1-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

at he reason Paul’s letters conclude like this is because he’s preaching repentance and also remission of sins

Not only remission of sins in some conditionless lawless act but along with his call to repentance and faith in the gospel

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;

but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:7-9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s really important to salvstion that we stop doing the devils Will which is sin and also that we believe the gospel of the kingdom of God because his word will call us to and create in us the will and purpose to repent

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s hard to hear things like this if you already think it doesn’t apply to you because you’re already saved there’s nothing for you to work out …. In this case the Bible isn’t going to benefit us much because it’s meant to change how we think and perceive things like sin and righteousness . Because if we understand what sin really is it will become repulsive to us and we will repent willingly

Amen! It should be a want to as well as a have to. We should desire and strive to be holy. True repentance is born out of sorrow and humility.

Yes.

Amen! It should be a want to as well as a have to. We should desire and strive to be holy. True repentance is born out of sorrow and humility.
Yes amen and hearing and believing the gospel is what changes our want to
amen to the last part there it occured to me sometime along the way that we have to initially acknowledge our sins as we ourselves become aware of them. What you said there reminds me of how Paul dealt with the Corinthians regarding the sinner

“Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭7:9-11‬ ‭

they were sorry because Paul made them all aware of thier sin and need to repent even instructing thhen to excommunicate the sinner innorder that he might repent of his flesh deeds and be saved if we’ve done something wrong we should feel bad about it that’s part of what brings us to the point of repentance. But if we pretend it’s not a big deal we’re forgiven ect we’re never going to have that reason to repent

How can hearing the gospel help us understand repentance ? Consider what the lord was saying here in this chapter as the sinners who werent pretending anymore humbled themselves and came forth to listen to him the Lord of heaven and earth

“Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

( Jesus always encountered believers and non believers some were admitted sinners seeking salvation and atonement forgivness and also some were self righteous judgemental folks not needing to hear the lord )

And he spake this parable unto them, ( remember who. Some near to hear him ) saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

( he has just spoken a lot in a parabolic story how God views the lost sinners and the extent he went to to redeem the lost )

Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

(He’s told Another short parabolic story that Carrie’s understanding of the value of a lost sinner to God )

And he said, A certain man had two sons:

and the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. ( he’s the lost sinner he’s the reason he’s lost his choices and actions )

And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

( he’s beginning to repent being sorrowful remembering his fathers house )

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. ( he’s come to repentance and decided to return home and acknolwedge his sins )

And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

( before he even makes it home just because he’s on the way his fether watching and waiting sees him and comes running with love )

And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

( the son repenting begins to confess and acknolwedge his hearts regrets )

But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: and bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:1-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The sinner is valuable to God even when they are lost , he is always seeking to find and save us , always he is waiting and watching for us to decide to acknolwedge what we’ve done to get away from him and to turn back towards home to set our ears back to our fathers word

He loves all of us like children he’s suffered and shed his blood to pay the stoning price for our sins and he’s also come and taught us how to live and be forgiven and inherit eternal life in his eternal kingdom the truth is we aren’t perfect so we need to hear Jesus teach us how to live in Gods Will like for instance imperfect people need this understanding , but the “ sinless “ among us they don’t need it and actually despise it in a way because it discredits thier boast of bieng righteous and judging sinners guilty and the lord almighty said it and said it will never change or pass away

“Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This can save an imperfect person who understands they also have sinned in thier life and so we’re all in the same boat we shouldn’t try to toss each other out

“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.”
‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭18:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This becomes important to someone who’s not yet perfect

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So repentence also and maybe of paramount importance , not excusing all sin of course but importantly it is referring to things like self righteous attitude , judging other sinners guilty while you judge your own self forgiven by Jesus blood ect Paul addresses this also often like Roman’s chapter 2 and also chapter 14

repentence also is something we should study and try to fully understand just what it is ?and where it comes from ?how ot works in us ? The Bible says a lot about it

Why do you assume that other Christians are "serving sin"? And what about the erroneous beliefs that you hang on to? Is it not a sin to promote spiritual confusion? I have already point out some of your errors in other posts.

Lol you have really been trying here to argue with me lately

Im really Not interested in arguing with you Nehemiah I usually only even speak with you if I agree because if someone doesn’t agree with you they are a heretic in your opinion …….this isnjist a discussion forum where people are discussing the Bible man , you are bound to come across some ideas you yourself don’t agree with I dont really know what to tell you if you do t want to read the things I write here simply don’t

to be clear though again this isn’t a teaching seminary it’s a public discussion forum that’s moderated by the people ordained by the operators to do so. You are probably going to find some ideas you don’t agree with , it seems unheard of for you brother but maybe you just don’t know everything yet possibly and maybe instead of arguing constantly you should read the scriptures in the poets you reply to like this one .

Your comment there doesn’t address anything in the post and you launched into a distortion in order to argue I’m really not interested Nehemiah in arguing it’s a waste of time

“I have already point out some of your errors in other posts”

yes and then I reply with scripture agreeing with what I’ve said and disagreeing with what you’ve said and you rush off in a huff and wait for the next opportunity to argue and accuse apparently

brother anytime you post anything here you have this belief that it’s infallible even if what your saying is completely refuted by mounds of scripture in your mind you have still proved something wrong so I’m sure you believe this

doesnt this just drain your spirit though bickering and arguing and all that ?

You have refuted nothing, and those who know the truth will agree with what I have posted. But your hardness of heart is evident. Not once have you admitted to any error. But we will leave it at that. The very fact that you have ASSUMED that all other Christians are "serving sin" (in this latest post) shows how far off the rails you are.

“You have refuted nothing, and those who know the truth will agree with what I have posted.”

thats the issue you actually really believe that about yourself

“But your hardness of heart is evident. Not once have you admitted to any error.
Ive never claimed to be right in the first place and actually I’ve changed a few beliefs based upon discussions with other people here actually learned some things I was wrong about . But I mean yeah Nehemiah if we’re talking nd I’m showing you scripture and saying I agree with this and your telling me no no you just don’t get it

Im not going to agree with you and praise your magic ability to transcend what the Bible actually does say of course though s you say there if anyone doesn’t agree with what you post ….it’s because they don’t know the” truth “

they couldn’t possibly find it anywhere else

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭
But what has sent you into this huff brother ? Is it what you said on the grace post forum lol no one’s ever gone be judged because we believe now ? We’re already saved ? If we sin now it’s just we’re not saved ? I dont agree with any of that but maybe other people do lol it is no skin of my knee

m not here to agree with Nehemiah or study what you post I’m just here to talk about what the Bible actually says, any thoughts on what the Bible actually says about repentance Nehemiah ?

Maybe why do we have to repent ?

can you answer that

“And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭17:30-31‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Pretty good reason to make sure we repent but of course I think this scripture is what has set you off to begin with

“Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: to them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: but unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; but glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: for there is no respect of persons with God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭2:4-11‬ ‭

I agree with what’s there and believe people should hear what’s actually there because so many people are explaining things th at aren’t actually there and are contrary to what’s there

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We need to repent because we are going to be judged

Not really sure who your talking to sinners or believers. I pray we all know "My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world." Even these verses something was said above it below it.. context. Yet so simple sweet, love does not offend anyone. This was the first thing that came to mind reading here. Its what the sweet sweet holy Spirit said.

Repentance... to some its standing on the corner mic speakers telling the lost how sinful evil and going to (forgive me Father) hell to burn forever. To another standing on a corner its just talking one on one sharing how much God loved them died for them and to set them free. You know thinking now one of the endless things I love about our GOD is how He can hear from billions the same things being asked and said. Even when I have done it countless times to Him.. He treats it as if it was the first time. Like being awake and showing me and then telling me "I am the vine you are the branches". At 62 how many times have I read that yet.. He said as if it was the 1st time but when He said it then "oooh how could I have not see that". Hope that's not hard to see :)

1 John 2:1-2 speaks it best for me

“Not really sure who your talking to sinners or believers”

people who are interested in what the Bible says about repentance and belief and want to discuss it .

“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world."

Yes I like those verses what do you think about the rest of them like those that follow what you quoted thier all true also right ?

“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:3-8‬ ‭

my posts are always meant for people who are interested in what’s written on the Bible and want to discuss what’s written in the Bible . I’m pretty sure Bible discussion forum is the place to share and discuss what the Bible says about the subjects we always talk and argue about that’s always who I’m aiming for anyone who wants to discuss and talk about or share in kind what’s written in the Bible.

My point is really simple and isnt even controversial brother it’s wide open and can’t be missed in the words of Jesus , the epistles of Paul Peter and John the Old Testament prophets ect

why do you suppose someone would come to a bible discussion forum and post a bunch of scripture talking about repenting and believing the gospel ?

we don’t have to guess what things like repentance means brother that’s the point of sharing some scripture talking about repentance d how it applies to Christian believers ……

brother I’ve come to a biblical discussion forum it should be obvious why I’m sharing scripture and talking about what it says ……..just another failed attempt lol at talking with some people out what they see on what the Bible says tha my only intent here you can study alone or with the same folks or sometimes you can try to get other people who you haven’t heard a perception on scripture you might be studying

Im just a person who wants to discuss the Bible …. But by first looking at and acknolwedging what it actually says

Like your quote from 1 John there that’s a good quote and a solid point Jesus is always there d always willing to forgive us but our part is what people tend to not acknolwedge like just before that johns saying this

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:6-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

then John says what you quoted… let’s talk about that set of verses of you’d like

There is a difference between sinner and saint, but Christlike absolute sinless perfection is not it. We still must struggle and fight the good fight. The only sense in which we are perfectly clean is when and as the Father views us through the cleansing lens of His Son's blood (positional perfection.) The difference is that the saint has a thirst and desire for holiness and purity. He longs for those white robes of Revelation. Until then, He must plead the blood of Jesus. He has a want-to that motivates his godly sorrow and repentance when he falls short. There is a shame that is not present in the sinner.
