So I am trying to learn to focus so I can create music and it's quite hard because I have ADHD. My mind can make sounds and rhythm and melodies and stuff but it's the learning how to master and mix and put things together and it needs a lot of concentration and learning how to do it by absorbing things and its that annoying that I give up. Its all because I cant focus for too long, but I wanna do better.

Not only that but my focus on biblical studies is terrible too. I can absorb one or two scriptures but thats about it. My mind wanders and I have trouble focusing and staying on point.

what works for you?

Do you naturally have a good focus and concentration, what do you think creates it?

perhaps when he returns from vacation, @Lynx can assist with the music?

have you considered you may be an auditory learner? biblegateway dot com has a few different audio Bibles you can listen to. take a passage and listen to it (while also looking at it would be good) a few times in a row. you don't have to begin with a whole chapter, but try several verses at first.

my so-called focus isn't great, and i find reading the Bible with someone else helps.

just a couple of thoughts, dear sister, from my pea brain. :geek: :D

Some of it is simply temperament. I used to read a lot and I could focus really well. It's also a spiritual issue. Satan hates us studying God's word. Make sure you pray before opening your Bible. Also, it is for sure better to absorb a few scriptures than read chapters then not recall anything. I find writing things down really helpful. Read a verse and write down what it means to you. After a while, you will find that your mind is not wandering as much.

Ask God to help you with concentration. You need to take control of your thoughts. If you did not choose a thought, then it is from the pit, not you. Your mind belongs to you. Resist any stray thoughts and tell them to go to the pit of hell. It may take a while, but you will regain control of your mind.

Oh shoot... And I referred you to a full fledged DAW like Reaper?! No wonder you were getting anxious!

Did you get the hang of it, or did you give up? You might want a lighter program, more like the one you were using on your phone but with just a few more options.

As for how to concentrate, that seems to be a highly individual thing. Different people have different methods and nobody's method ever seems to work for anybody else. At least I've never seen it happen.

Best you can do is gather AAAAAAALL the tips and tricks from everyone, try them one at a time and see if any stick.

ADHD aside, after having a smart phone for several years, I'm discovering that my attention span has become very short and it is hard to focus on something for long, and I don't have ADHD... Praying you're able to get better at focusing.

serious dedicated meaningful concentration works for me. 1st, get Jesus on the job, He still is performing miracles. recognize as soon as your mind drifts off & get back on focus. here is a super great way to establish a system for focus & concentration: when gone to bed, before you are asleep, repeat many times, this statement: "i will concentrate my best", "i will focus my best"! also, you know what subjects or "things" you like the best, so begin there practicing your focus & concentration. because you like those things the best, your apt to focus on them the best. i had a-d-d when i was young & it carried into adulthood. i bought a book on the powers of your subconscious mind. i read only the 1st bunch of pages & that was all i needed. plus, i read an article in a readers digest magazine that spoke about training yourself to wake up without an alarm clock. that really attracted my attention big time. that was the 1st step for me to fix my focusing & concentration problem. & so, i haven't used an alarm clock since i was 16! eat blueberries, fish & spinach as they all are "brain" foods. to maximize the effects of those foods, cut out all the preservatives, additives, chemicals, fillers & fertilizers that are in foods. i never visited a doctor about my issue, i healed it myself. another issue, my asthma, i also healed that all by myself by learning how to sing, never saw a doctor on that either. self healing is something that God has given us, very few people know this or practice it. but we can't heal ourselves in every issue, by course. blessings to you.

Waking up without an alarm clock is awesome! That thing is sooooo jolting first thing in the morning.

I have a job that starts at 9am, but I go to bed about 8pm and get up around 3am or 4am. I haven't used an alarm clock in... Uh... I don't know how long, but it has been years and years.

Most people hate second shift jobs, but they are wonderful if you like waking up when you are ready to wake up.

9 am is a great time to start w*rk. I am still trying to figure out why you never use the "o" letter. maybe once I start typing it enough times it will hit me like a brick lol

I work nights and start at 8pm.... but all the better for my music production during the days.

W*rk is a four letter dirty word. :p

(In other words w*rk is a running joke of mine. But I really do dislike it.)

Another dirty word is h*rsh*y. That's the stuff y'all think of when you think USA chocolate, but it is NOT real chocolate. I refuse to even say that H word.

Oh we have some marvelous chocolate. Lake Champlain Chocolate is exquisite.

For everyday chocolate I usually default to Moser Roth, which is quite inexpensive and easily available at Aldi stores.

But the stereotype for "American chocolate," what y'all think of as the chocolate we eat, is h*rsh*y, and that stuff is just plain nasty. That y'all think we are so deprived... :p
