What purpose is God carrying out during the Millennial Kingdom?

the Holy Spirit was sent to the people present, a small number only , not all flesh, Jesus initiated the covenant, remember what Jesus compared the kingdom of heaven to, a mustard seed, the smallest of plant but grows to a tree, since Jesus came and planted this seed, the Kingdom is growing, people who believe in Jesus words and follow the GOD's will have received the HOLY SPIRIT but not everyone, when Jesus comes to establish the Millennium Kingdom, then the commandments will be in people's heart and flesh;

31 He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. 32 Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

This is what scripture says, it is evident that not all, far from it, follow the commandments. it is Why this is proof the new covenant is not in effect yet . A covenant is an agreement between 2 parties, many do not want to follow the commandments, there is no covenant at this time but soon, when out Lord and Savoir returns he will make this covenant with his people.

Right. The kingdom started small. A hundred twenty in an upper room. Maybe less than 1,000 altogether. Today there are billions of professing believers. How many true believers? Don't know. Certainly way more 1,000. That's in just 2,000 years. The smallest becoming the largest. In another 2,000 years, it will be more.
As far as the Spirit being poured out, we know that happened the day of Pentecost. Before, the Spirit would come upon a few select individuals. Now, on all believers, just as Joel 2 says.

Heb 12: 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks of better things than that of Able.

The term new covenant is mentioned 4 times in scripture and if you look up the Greek definition for all four you'll see that it means covenant, or testament, or will... Sadly, English is not the same as the Greek.

Hello Cameron,
Joel 2 refers to the day the Lord and the second advent of Christ, it describes the pouring out of the HOLY SPIRIT on the true believers in Christ those who follow his teachings, it is not referencing the commandment to be put in people's inner parts or mind or the New Covenant. To those who received the Holy Spirit, they know the commandments are in effect not to be followed like the pharisee who added to it in a shameful way full of hypocrisy but those who love GOD and Jesus do want to follow them, as it is written they are not grievous. Of course the penalty was paid in full by our Savior Jesus Christ. I will write more on this soon, I will write a new thread on the commandments in January, it will reference scripture only. The scripture is clear as you will see then.

But yes, the pouring of the HOLY SPIRIT has started definitely, and is increasing, I hear of many conversions in the Muslim community, and also many Jews now recognize Jesus as the messiah. Many had visions and dreams, the day of the lord if not far away. The Kingdom of Heaven is coming.

According to the book of revelations, there will be a millennium Kingdom starting with Jesus second advent, after the millennium, satan will be released for a short time, then will be finally judged and thrown in the lake of fire, then the final kingdom of Heaven will come in all it's glory.

All this is for the future definitely, When Jesus mentioned it was at hand it was simply because he was with us. Jesus did not give many details of what it would look like except through his disciple John in the book of revelations . He came to preach the kingdom of heaven;

(KJV) Luk 4:43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

Jesus sent everyone a formal invitation to the Kingdom of Heaven many parables on this, like the wedding feast etc.. He announced the Kingdom of Heaven, He planted the seed, he explained it would grow as the believers in him would increase;

Mrk 4:30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?
Mrk 4:31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
Mrk 4:32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

Jesus paid in full the price of admittance to the kingdom of heaven, he followed his father's will and gave up his life willingly, this is the most precious gift of all, eternal life.

The physical, spiritual description of the kingdom of heaven is described in Revelations 21, 22. A vast kingdom with room for everyone, the description of it is beyond our understanding, GOD himself will dwell in it with his people it will be glorious.

You're talking about the heart of flesh.It isn't physically all flesh.

Acts 2:17
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
 
I haven’t read all the replies, but it seems to me that one of the most obvious reasons for the 1,000 year reign , will be to show all of humanity that satan cannot be fully blamed for our sins, as he will be bound for this period of time. This glaring fact will lay to rest where the sin problem originates, and the blame lies.

I see you leaning on the book or Revelation for this "future" kingdom. What does the the rest of the NT tell you about it? Is it silent on the kingdom?

Jesus described it in other ways, not just the mustard seed. What about this description, what do you make of it?
And He told them many things in parables, saying, “Behold, the sower went out to sow; 4 and as he sowed, some seeds fell beside the road, and the birds came and ate them up. 5 Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and they sprang up immediately, because they had no depth of soil. 6 But after the sun rose, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away. 7 Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns came up and choked them out. 8 But others fell on the good soil and yielded a crop, some a hundred, some sixty, and some thirty times as much. 9 The one who has ears, let him hear.”
 
my question is why does the old covenant return during the millennium? it really seems so from many scriptures. they are celebrating feast of tabernacles and sacrificing animals... so much for the new covenant huh?

Doesn't add up does it. The church does away with dividing Jew and Gentile, having to go to a physical temple to worship, ect.... I suggest people have to misunderstand a few things to make the "millennial" kingdom work.

simple this parable is about the gospel, the message of Jesus and he explains it himself in the verses below;
Mat 13:18 Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower.

Mat 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.

Mat 13:20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;

Mat 13:21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Mat 13:22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Mat 13:23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Christ is not silent on the kingdom evidently gave a description in the book of revelations but like christ said himself;

Jhn 3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

It is about the gospel, and at the same time it's about the kingdom. Verse 19 Jesus says "the word of the kingdom" is the seed.

In Daniel 2, the bible tells us the kingdom will be established in the days of the 4th kingdom (Roman empire.) 44 And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which will never be destroyed, and that kingdom will not be left for another people; it will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, but it will itself endure forever.
Jesus appears during the Roman empire and declared the kingdom of heaven is at hand. If Jesus didn't set up His kingdom in during the 4th kingdom, then that prophecy is false.

A mortal believer would be someone who served the tribulation and lived on into the Millenial Kingdom - compared to the resurrected and glorified saints like the apostles who also will inhabit the Millenial Kingdom.

In the Millennium, only believers/overcomers who go through the first resurrection achieve immortality/eternal life. There’s no such thing as a mortal believer. Let me go back a little—

The Antichrist, the false messiah, will test this final generation when he comes at the 6th trump, right? Many will be deceived and because of this, will not partake of the first resurrection. If you are not part of the first resurrection, then you are part of "the remainder," who are called "the dead" and you must wait until the end of the Millennium. These folks will have to go through the 1,000-year Millennium and be taught the Truth. After this, there will be another test which they must pass before they can receive immortality. That test is when Satan is released for a short time—And no, it's not a second chance because they never really had a chance to learn the Truth with all the false teachings being taught in churches regarding the latter days. Revelation 20 lays it out how it will happen. Revelation 20:5 tells us, “the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.“. After the 1,000-year Millennium comes the Great White Throne Judgment when the books will be opened: And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. - Revelation 20:12
