This is one particulalry for the Aussies.. (although I'm not opposed to others taking part- it's kind of pointless as you'll see...)

Fellow Aussies - for those of you who aren't aware (or like me, really don't like politics), please give me you full attention for one minute:

Our nation is currently debating the legalisation of 'same sex marriage'. If you believe in the sanctity of the marriage union the way God designed it to be 'between ONE man and ONE woman only' then please sign this online national petition. It goes to our politicians, and if you're keen you can even send an email to you local member of parliament. There is a link on the site to do that- it's really easy and give you a few tips on what to include in the message.

The goal is 50,000 signatures and currently we're at just over 36,000 so we're steadily on the way. It only takes about 10 seconds, but could potentially have a HUGE impact on the direction of our nations future.

I really don't know for sure, but here in the Philippines - Same sex marriage is still out of the question and will be facing a lot of opposition.

Only time will tell when a similar thread like this would be posted.
But this is just my opinion, but if in Australia it becomes legalized, then homosexuals in my Country doesn't have to travel far to get married,
that is of course if they get Australian citizenship.
;)

Perhaps it's about too many shoes, for too many feet. The State of New York, now headed
by a Jewish governor and a Jewish Mayor of New York City have successfully
implemented homosexual marriage. We can't just say we want this or that ... this is a
system of LOGOS ...

Take a look at population issues, sustainable agriculture, energy, pollution, the
environment. Take a look at the Divorce and Illegitimacy rates, and add the abortion
rate and second marriages. Take a look at import/exports versus a sustainable,
indigenous supply chain. Australia is like Texas, in a long term state of drought (as I know
it from way over here in the States).

Take a look at societal issues relative to scripture -- Pagan Practices, fornication, idolatry
... love of music and sports and entertainment, the love of Santa and the Bunny, the
reliance on Magic Government, magic schools, magic religions ... All over the world, it is
time to wake up. Surely, homosexuality is NOT an answer ... but it is a Response ... and
take a look at who creates, promulgates, manipulates the social system first, and get
THAT to stop ... and be thankful for shoes ... at all ...

I know that Australia is 'Queen's Land' but that doesn't work either, nor Hellenism and the
bad boy promoters thereof. I know that Australia participates in an annual 'lights out'
campaign ... but what about every other day of the year ... we need to back it all down, all
over the world, and we need to do so with a right view and right intention towards man
and the environment. We don't need Imported Animal Flesh from other countries coming
in to the US, we can't really have it as a world ... we don't want and don't need Ronald
McDonald.

Please consider the issues as you petition and vote ... and look to solutions in scripture in
terms of repentance and right mindedness, self control, and a call to others to see ...
 
Hmmm, I'm divided on this issue Katie. I too believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. But I'm not sure this is an issue to dig our heels in over. Our government is a secular one and the sanctity of marriage is long gone in our society. I guess what I mean is Christians are different because of the way we act, think, behave, believe and this includes relationships. But I'm not sure whether we should be digging our heels over something that I am as yet unsure whether is simply a legal issue or not. My pastor has mentioned that long term commitment is something to be encouraged. (He preaches STRONGLY against homosexuality for the record)

I think I would cautiously support something that gave them every legal right in marriage - except when it comes to the adoption of children, that is an entirely different kettle of fish. As to it being called marriage... I'm undecided at the moment.

That's exactly the thing they want though Stuey.

They're not just fighting for the right to 'get married'... they want 'equal rights'..including being able to raise children etc etc.

I guess I lean towards Megatron's opinion then. - Barring the adoption of kids.
