I am into entertaining possibilities sometimes if it does not contradict Scripture and it appears to make sense biblically. But what I do know is that Easter was the word used before William Tyndale invented the word ”Passover.” That is why we see Passover and Easter used interchangeably in various other verses not the KJB in other Textus Receptus Bibles. Check out the book, ”Don’t Passover Easter” by Bryan C. Ross. It is a super short read, and the Kindle version is cheap. So the argument by others who say that the KJB mistranslated by using the word “Easter” in Acts 12:4, do not have all the facts on the subject. But lets turn the tables here. Your belief is truly an assumption. There is no good pattern of evidence to prove your case. Your belief that the Westcott and Hort texts (Vaticanus & Sinaiticus) that is used for the Nestle and Aland is better because they are older is an assumption. It is a wrong assumption because they not only were heretics but these two manuscripts disagreed with each other in thousands places and there were corrections all over them. In other words, they were trash manuscripts. Vaticanus and Sinaiticus were going to be chemically date tested, but then the test was stopped. Very fishy. In fact, Sinaiticus was found in a trash bin whereby it was to be burned.
Yes, William Tyndale invented the word Passover, but people at the time were familiar with the word Easter. He used them interchangeably. As time went on, each English translation used easter less and less until we have it once in the KJV.

Don't get me started on the "older and better" argument. 😄

Would you like to point out where the KJB is better than Tyndale?

Very interesting. And sad. Iv'e asked for doctrines that we miss out on from reading and studying from the NASB. None provided. Not even "small" doctrines. It was even implied that demons are involved in the NASB.

And I see KJV proponents on this thread that disagree on a VERY,VERY, VERY important doctrine. The TOP one IMO.

But as long as we are KJV only, it's ok.

If the KJV is so perfect, it seems all would at least agree on the major doctrines.

I was simply explaining how the term easter came to be. There are a couple bogus theories taught as fact since I started attending church that needed correcting.
I never read the Tyndale Bible all the way through from cover to cover. However, he was an awesome martyr and am grateful for his sacrifice.

You have made more unwarranted assumptions. I said nothing AT ALL about all the crap you just said I believed.

First, even respected Modern Bibles like the NAS95, and ESV translate this as “Passover,” which aligns with the KJB (Easter meaning Passover). Second, Passover (a.k.a. Easter) fits the context. Acts 12 mentions the feast of unleavened bread (Acts 12:3). According to Luke 22, we know that the unleavened bread is tied to the Passover (See: Luke 22:1, and Luke 22:7). If you were to read the context in Acts 12 even more, we know that when Herod had killed James, and when he noticed that it pleased the Jews (Acts 12:2-3), he captured Peter and intended to bring him out after a particular event before the people. What people? The Jews because they are the ones in whom he saw that it pleased them back in verse 3. So seeing it is the Jews who are in focus here, the focus would be the Passover and not some pagan holiday.
Then the KJV shouldn't have used the word.

I don't think 'Easter' is a pagan holiday... if it is about Christ and not bunnies. It's a holiday that is likely indirectly named after a false goddess because the month was named after her. We don't know much about it. Bede made a comment on the origin of the name of the month back then.

Passover is on the Biblical lunar calendar. Easter is on a solar calendar. Easter commentorates a date that is three days after Christ died. Christ celebrated the Passover before He died. I have also read the theory that He actually arose on Firstfruits but I am not committed to a particular opinion about that.

Neither would be in reference to a Christian holiday seeing Herod could care less about a Christian holiday seeing he was killing Christians.
Then 'Easter' is inaccurate.

Three, if you were to pick up Kindle version of the book, “Don’t Passover” by Bryan C. Ross (which is really cheap), he actually provides further proof that Passover was invented by Tyndale, and it was used interchangeably in other verses within other Textus Receptus Bibles. Generally Modern scholars say the KJV is wrong for saying it is Easter because they believe the rendering should be Passover. But Easter is just another word for Passover. That is what the word meant before Tyndale invented the word ”Passover.”
If we used Pascha in English, you could make that argument, but we don't. We use Easter, which is distinct from Passover, and Passover is an English word since Tyndale.

For those who actually believe God...

" It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."
-God
The KJV hasn't gone around cutting heads off of modern translations, so that won't work out very well.

Btw, they have that verse in other Bible translations, too, you know, and it is in the Greek text these were translated from.

Easter is on a solar calendar. Easter commemorates a date that is three days after Christ died.
Easter is established on the moon as well as sun, since it falls on the
first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox.

That is why it moves around so much, though there are years it is very close to Passover.

Passover can be on any day of the week, though, whereas Easter is always on a Sunday.

I am not in for a Friday crucifixion, either...

The difference is that Jesus is not referring only to that one statement.
I will not try to convince you.
I am simply of the confidence that I use a fully accurate, complete Bible that's been preserved as God intended.
There's no NIV Onlyists.
There's no NAS Onlyists.
There's no ESB onlyits?
Why?
They use multiple bibles from what I've seen.
They don't believe God when He said,

"It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

That's why those of us who believe Him say,
It's the King James Bible.

Doctrines Unique to the KJB that Modern Alexandrian Bibles Do not Have:

#1. Doctrine of The True Way To Test a Spirit of Antichrist is Removed and Altered:

The command on the details of the true way to test a "spirit of Antichrist" is changed in Modern Bibles (See: 1 John 4:2-3). For example: First, the word “acknowledge” (NIV) is used instead of “confess.” (KJB). We must “confess” that Jesus Christ has come into the flesh, and not just “acknowledge” by nodding our head or saying, “Amen,” etcetera. In addition, 1 John 4:3 eliminates the full version that the “King James Bible” has. So clearly, this is a watering down of testing the spirits to see one of the ways a spirit is from God or not. Note: We also see the words “according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;” removed in Modern translations in Acts 2:30. So, Modern Bibles are failing the very test that Scripture gives us.

#2. The Doctrine of Fasting So As To Cast Out Persistent Demons is Removed:

Matthew 17:21 that tells us that casting out persistent or really strong devils is by prayer and fasting. Yet, Matthew 17:21 is oddly removed in Modern Translations. Mark 9:29 mentions that you can pray to remove these kinds of devils, but it does not mention fasting. So the key doctrine of fasting so as to cast out really strong demons is gone. So the enemy wins if a person only adheres to the Modern Translations and they have a "hate on” for the KJV. For if you ever encountered strong demonic activity like this before, you know that fasting does actually help greatly, and not just prayer alone.

#3. The Command To Study God's Word To Show Yourself Approved Unto God is Removed and Altered.

2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Modern Translations are confusing on this point and they say "work hard to present yourself approved unto God." The context is rightly dividing the Word of truth (Scripture). Why is this important? Well, we are living in the last days where men of God are questioning the Bible, or they are looking to something extra in addition to the Bible (like visions, dreams, revelations, prophecies, other holy books, etc.). God's people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6).

#4. God magnifies His Word above His own name Is Removed in Modern Bibles.

Psalms 138:2 says, “I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.” Yet, the underlined part of this verse is neutered like a cat in Modern Versions. You don’t really know the full depth of how God regards His Word if you have a Modern Bible.

#5. The Command on not to have fellowship with prosperity preachers is removed.

The command to remove yourself from those who think that “gain is godliness” is missing in 1 Timothy 6. We should not hang out or fellowship with prosperity teachers or money-grabbing believers. Their influence can rub off on you to think the same way. Their bad influence can lead you to chase after riches instead of righteousness. The love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10). 1 Timothy 6:5 says we are to withdraw ourselves from those who think “gain” is “godliness.”

#6. The part of Revelation 22:14 that says, "they that do his commandments" is altered.

Revelation 22:14 (KJB) says,

"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."

Revelation 22:14 (ESV)

"Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates."

Some believe Modern translations are more accurate here because it points to Revelation 7:14 regarding washing one’s robes in the blood. But the KJB truth of Revelation 22:14 lines up with Revelation 14:12 that also talks about God’s commands. However, contextually, those outside the gates were those who were in living in grievous sin (See Revelation 22:15). Sin is merely disobedience to God’s commands or laws (See: 1 John 3:4).

#7. In 1 Thessalonians 5:22 - The counterfeit Bibles change "all appearance of evil" to "every form (or kind) of evil."

This verse in the KJB refutes the idea that Christians can celebrate Halloween and or make themselves look like a bad guy (i.e., an evil person) that would scare or alarm the average person on the street. In other words, we should not appear to dress up as if we look evil or endorse those who do.

This is just a quick run through. There may be more on this list.
So yeah, the Modern Alexandrian Bibles do not agree with the King James Bible on doctrine.
These doctrines (which are made up of words) in the KJB are not the words of God that Anti-KJB believers will live by.
So they are not living by every word of God.

Uh, Modern Bibles teach the same truths. But even still, if you lived before the 1800s, you would not really have any other choice but the King James Bible to believe in. That is why the later Bibles trying to say they are better is just silly. They remove direct references of the Trinity. So if you ever tried to evangelize somebody who denies the Trinity, your out of luck if you don’t have a King James Bible. You would be trying to convince them of the Trinity by indirect references and inferences in Scripture. How silly.

Nope.

Passover and Easter are merely synonyms that both refer to the Jewish Passover.
In various languages, we can see that Easter is taken from the word Pascha.
