Her claim is that the person who objected to her not saying that calling for genocide of Israel was pro Israel means that the campaign to remove her as President was racist.
A person who was pro Israel heard her refuse to condemn calls for the genocide of Israel and so he was going to pull a $100 million dollar donation to the university unless she was removed. Think about that, he gave the money to the University when she was the president. Was she black then? Was she from Haiti at that time? But then he learned she was fine with students at Harvard calling for genocide of Jews and refused to say it violated school policy and so he is going to pull the donation. Now he becomes a racist? What is this an essential part of being a black woman from Haiti, that you don't condemn calls for genocide of Israel?
In my opinion she is an embarrassment to Harvard and this Op Ed didn't make things better, it made things worse because if she had kept silent the University could have argued that her resignation was a sign that she was apologetic for her behavior. But the Op Ed proves she is definitely not apologetic and there is no excuse for Harvard to harbor her in their university.
Also, making excuses for the plagiarism has not resolved the issue for me. What I need to know is what happens to a student who does this on a paper? The claim is that any student at Harvard who did that would be forced to leave. If that is true, then I can't see her staying as a professor. If that is false then Harvard needs to make that very clear that plagiarism of this sort is perfectly fine with them and no student would suffer who did the same. Saying that they reviewed the situation and she is fine, doesn't mean anything, make it clear what the policy is for all students at Harvard.
