i imagine i'd feel somewhat like a hostage.

i'm such a control freak (recovering?). the LAST thing i want is some tour director telling me it's time for shuffleboard.

no with 90K you could easily pay for a decent funeral and still live on the rest. you could then put the rest into savings, RRSPs, GICs and other investments for your family once your gone and increase your finances in the process.

If you have non-adult children, and/or other family financially dependent on you, then yes, of course I get the materialistic concerns. My '3 years left to live' was just a whimsical notion. But if I was to take it more seriously, of course I'd cover my own burial expenses. I would be looking to do meaningful interpersonal good every day, as seoul was saying, but I wouldn't be working my 9-to-5 (unless I loved it), start investing and go get a part-time job. There's a time for everything.

True, it was practical, and had a high emphasis on the material. I was more trying to suggest there's a balance, highlight other concerns and that there's a time for everything.

I'm 38, single, unemployed, no children, no wife, no close relationships.
In my case it wouldn't matter what I do with it. The only things I have in life are my possessions.

I recently heard about a cruise line launching a 3-year, 'round-the-world cruise that will touch down in over 130 countries and over 350 ports. The starting cost is $90,000, or $30,000 per year.

Theoretically, this is supposed to include (this is directly copied from the article):

There isn’t the option to do shorter legs; however, it is possible to go in on one room with family and friends and divvy up the costs with who is on the boat at any given time. The company is also offering a matchmaking scheme, where passengers co-own a cabin with another group and split time on board."

I was talking with my small chat group about whether or not they would be interested in something like this and if they think they could last that long on a ship. I know that I for one would go stir crazy being confined to one place. My daily life might be boring, but we have a dozen grocery stores around here so I can at least mix up my regular chores!

However, even though $30,000 is an awful lot of money, I've lived in or near cities where the cost of living is even higher, so seeing as this is supposed to include meals, laundry, and port fees, some might consider it a bargain -- especially since you can split the costs with others in one cabin.

I love the body of water but I am also not a fan of what's in the deep...I grew up near the sea and also behind us is a big river. I experienced their madness many times that is why I can say that it is not fun specially when a storm is coming or when there is storm(typhoon) how the sea reacts it is quite scary 😶 You try to listen to the sound of the waves at night .... 😶

Lol not discouraging anyone,it is just me. I have friends and relatives who work in a big ship internationally and they seem like they enjoy their job so if you love cruising then go for it ♥️ you have put in a lot of effort towards achieving whatever you have now ☺️ go ahead pamper yourself you deserve it ☺️

In the meantime, another company has pioneered their own 3-AND-A-HALF-YEAR cruise and it's said that some YouTuber's have paid a pretty penny to go in order to document everything on their channels.

People are betting on predictions of how many divorces, pregnancies, babies born, etc. will happen on the ship during this time.

That's too bad about the first one being cancelled. Based on scams you hear about, makes me wonder if the one just cancelled was a scam? Considering they are paying peeps back in installments, what was the organizing individual or company doing with the money pot? You'd think they'd start with 'securing a ship at a price' before they started taking money, or least before taking big money. It would have been in the company's interest to get a number of "bids" so they know what a good price is, and that would also give them plenty of backups if one ship dropped out.
