Who do you think I am? Some kind of mind reader? Most politicians do something because they expect it will go over well with their supporter base or turn the undecided their way. I don't expect that Mr Trump expected to start a war over such a trivial issue. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. All Mr Trump did was to recognise a preexisting fact.
Palestinians happen to be living in Israeli territory. Personally, I think the government of Israel has been remarkably tolerant, considering the provocations from the so-called Palestinians (there is no such thing, you should know.) By the way, it is ISRAEL.
