Having grown up around Christians all of my life, one pervading attitude among them is "Even if it's not true, at least I believed something." But the fact is, no one has ever died before and come back to tell about it. And the many people who claim to have done so, you have to go by their word of mouth.

I often hear people say they're not afraid of death, but I think at least some of these people are trying to look macho. I'm not going to lie though, I am afraid of death; only because I don't know for sure what's going to happen afterward. If I knew for sure, I don't think I would be afraid.

well if heaven doesnt exist then you probably wont realize youre dead, so again another reason not to worry. you will just cease to exist. though you could have been wrong the whole time, missed something and end up in hell.

I only judge this. That if one man died for all, then all were dead. It is normal to be afraid as we are weak through the flesh. But the truth is that we can handle it. Death comes to all as it is the only definite knowledge that all have in common. But our desire is to live. I thus conclude that if God confines all in sin that He may have mercy on us all, then all must be saved.

In that, I am now immovable as perfect love casts out fear.

I don't know anyone that looks forward to the actual event of a physical death. I mean I hope my departure form this life is painless but no one can guarantee that.

I will say that my faith in the Lord is what keeps me from fearing the hereafter. I believe that there is life after death with Jesus. So when someone says they are not afraid of death thaey are most likely speaking from the spiritual part of it. Just my thoughts.

I would learn how much God loved me and learn of heaven and decide where I wanted to go. When you learn more you actually look forward to going to heaven. You are not afraid at all and you ave the peace of God inside of you.

I guess that is why Jesus said the truth will set you free. If you knew the truth, that the after life of a believers was eternal love with your King then you would indeed be set free from your fear of death.

Reminds me of what Ravi Zacharias said regarding Lazarus.

I'll let you view it yourself.

Why should we as Christians be afraid of death or hell, if we know the one whose going to let us out?

death is easy, living is hard. i think most people fear how they will die, not that they will die. its a slight difference but a big one. rest assured Christians are on the right path for eternal life. if you are dead and believe in him, you will live again. if your are alive and believe in him, you will never die. Jesus is Lord

I agree with this. Fear of death for some is that they dont have peace with God.
There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked.Isa48:22
But to a believer its our blessed Hope. :)

Hebrews 2
14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil—
15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Fire 7 I truly look forward to this one :) you have just struck upon the core question of questions. The fear of all fears. I was a scared kid. I hated fear, I was nearly kidnapped a couple times, my father beat my mother so when he was there I was scared of him and when he was gone I was scared of the world. Through all of my fears I felt I had to come up with understandings to get over it. Example: if I were falling out of an airplane how would I keep from dying of a heart attack from fear while falling? the answer? I while falling the moment I knew there was no hope would aim my head downward (to make sure I die quickly) but the key to overcoming the fear was to close my eyes and think of something else. (Now I would think of God and my love for Him. However at the time I thought of this it could have been a thought about anything. Like your family and just truly try and immerse yourself there, focus on one tiny detail and try to expand it and then while in the mix of your thoughts it would just "end" Now to get on with the real question. Fear of death- the great unknown. I'd like to share with you some math. Lots of people love math and trust it so I will trust that this helps you somewhat. First off how long is eternity? it never ends imagine an arrow in one direction going forever and an arrow in the other direction going forever. This is time. If you could live to be 120 years old (I'm giving you about 22 extra years for the sake of our conversation) lets look at odds. What are the odds, if this were all one big accident, if you were a cosmic burp that happened by chance to live once, and die forever what are the mathematical odds you would find yourself smack dab in your 29th year (or any of them for that matter?) what are the odds you wouldn't have lived and died 900,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years ago and already be dead or that you wouldn't live and die 9 quatrillionzillion years in the future? what are the mathematical odds in all of eternity that you are alive right now. Lets go a little further to shove the point home, because the truth is that any set number in comparisson to eternity becomes nothing.. for instance what is 999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 years compared to eternity? it is an infinitely small dot that gets smaller for all time that is within an infinitely large ocean that gets larger for all time. The mathematical odds are virtually non existant. It is less likely that after a conclusive dna test that your father isn't really your father. again the question.

what are the mathematical odds, that you would find yourself alive right now in all of eternity?

now lucky for us God has left a whole lot of evidence himself. Lucky for me I have experienced amazing events that where I've been collapsed to a homeless man who shone by the light of God when he started with "thus says the LORD GOD!" and I'd probably think I were crazy if I didn't have a witness with me at the time. However even without that God left an amazing amount of evidence for those who look. You can try a book called "more than a carpenter" by Josh mcdowell. You can go with all of the archaeologists or historians who have tried to disprove the bible (who thought it would be an easy thing because the bible is is in no way vague) which they believed was a serious flaw made by the conspirators who created it. Fortunately for us they simply found evidence that they could not refute to the point they became christian and wrote books about it. You can go to the fact that in the time of Moses when he was taught by the egyptians (remember they believed your brain was just excess meat in your head) and the idea of medicine was mix fly urine with donkey droppings and feed it to your baby to stop it from crying, and then suddenly Moses gets a message from God saying, if they have leprosy, burn their clothes, quarentine their house, kick them outside of the walls and week after week have a doctor check them for their signs till they go away, in those days bathing was thought to be unhealthy, yet God said to wash (interesting understanding of germs in such a primal world. When Moses crossed the red sea it was written that while starving Qual flew across the ocean and would lay there so exhausted you could pick them up 7-12 at a time. The bible writes that many of the jews didn't wait to cook it thoroughly and got sick. To this day there is a local tribe in that area who showed archaeologists where they claim "the crazy jews" came and wrote on walls and died in mass numbers. To this day the cave is written in an egyptian arabic mix, which you would expect from slave jews living in Egypt and possibly more astounding than that the fact that to this day we know that there is a natural migration of quail that fly across the ocean there and to this day you can walk up and kick them because they are so exhausted. One archaeologist looked at a field that the bible said (I forget the exact number) lets say 300,000 chariots that were chasing moses camped for the night. He knew that they built little stalls for them and he knew that this particular field wouldn't hold that many, he thought it was evidence against the bibles accuracy, so he began digging, he found one of the stalls and wouldn't ya know he found 300,000 of them (again don't remember the number but it was the exact number in the bible) The new testement has many of the same clues, not counting all of the prophecies written about Jesus in the Old testament, or even the fact that the old testament God was such a different seeming God than the one portrayed by the new testament but amazingly enough the prophecies in the Old about the New describe exactly that kind of a saviour. Please read "more than a carpenter" by Josh Mcdowell, though I have been blinded by the light of God and I've had visions for the following 3 days after that.. me 2 of my friends, my little brother and my 6 year old sister who knew of none of it, not even the homeless man, I don't need evidence for I cannot stand before God and say I didn't know. But when I read "more than a carpenter" to hear a quote from the top law professor at Harvard the year Harvard became the top law school to hear a quote from that man stating "there is enough historical evidence in regards to the ressurection of Jesus Christ that if it ever went to court it would undoubtedly be ruled a historic fact." Man, its truly amazing, God didn't make it so we had to take it by faith alone, God says to love Him with our Body, Hearts and MINDS!! :D knock and the door shall be opened seek and you shall find, He left so much evidence. Just check it all out for yourself. Hit me up anytime I'd love to hear from you.. Take care and God bless I hope this helped :)

Introducing Get Over Death, GOD, The Father's Mission in and through His First Begotten Child, and temporarily, Our Lord King and Saviour, Jesus The Christ, from the begining of the flesh, to the end of The Lords Day of reckoning in the spirit, leading up to Our Fathers PLAN coming into fufilment; a moment of Justified Revenge upon Death (satan) into the lake of fire.

To restore the MoreNatural (supernatural) Order of ALL things; Fair, Care and Share establishs and maintains Utopia for everyone, and everywhere that it is exercised, it is not a belief, nor is it a lot of rules, Just a couple of Demands.

I'm actually looking forward to the day God chooses for me die, but as long as I'm here; I will do my best to be who He has planned for me to be.

Phil 4:6,7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Do not lean on your own understanding

Sometimes flesh gets in the way and fear will try to creep into my thoughts, but then I look to Jesus, those moments when His presance fills me so that I find it hard to be in the world still.
But it is not my wants, but the work of Jesus that brings me and keeps me here.
If what we know now, is meerly a glimce, the joy of His presance in eternity gives streanght to work towards the goal, setting all that is self aside for Jesus.
One does not fear death, simply because one dies everyday to the flesh in Jesus, His presance filling every part of flesh which is already dead .
When one is already dead in Jesus, one knows only eternal life in Jesus.

in Jesus, God bless.
