Jesus was baptized to fulfill all righteous. He had no sins to remit.

All priests were to undergo baptism at the outset of their duties.

:)
Exactly !!! Of course that’s by our sins can be remitted in his death he had no sin we all do have sin

he died for our sins he bore them on our behalf . Died in our place who do have sin we’re meant to partake of his baptism it’s why we get baptized in his name ….who died for our sins

We get baptized in his name for remission of our sins that he took on himself and died for if Jesus would have had any sins he couldn’t have died for our sins and then lived

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what’s the argument here really the disciples were commanded by Jesus to baptize people in his name for remission of sins ehats the argument ? That getting baptized doesn’t involve water ?

If we conclude that then it means Stephen was practicing a false baptism and just didn’t understand what we do

“And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.

And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:36-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We can pretend that baptism doesn’t involve water in just not sure why we would want to do that . The argument seems to be “ Jesus baptizes you with the holy spirit “

So Why did Jesus command his diciples to Baptise people in his name ? Peter clearly says it’s for remission of sins doesn’t he ?

Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

Why do people get baptized in Jesus name ?

Also Did Peter just say “ I baptize all of you in Jesus name ? Maybe they were just saying I baptize you ? Not really sure it says hey we’re baptizing in water but even if d someone says no water no water then does someone have to lay those hands on you and say “ I baptize you in Jesus name ?”

It doesn’t make any sense to me to remove doctrines God well established but it’s just my own thought I personally don’t think it’s even question it’s thoughout the nt

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭2:11-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It seems like baptism is a basic doctrine that Jesus and his disciples established I’m not too sure why anyone would ever reject baotism given it’s promise and who made the promise

Ring around the Rosie pocket full of Posies, ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
Not all of us just some

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”

They were baptizing in water. But anyone can be baptized in water. I'm just saying that wasn't the baptism Jesus was referring to. The only thing that ultimately matters in this life is whether we are in Christ or not. We cannot place ourselves in Christ. The Holy Spirit must place us into Him. This is the baptism that is of preeminent importance and what all other baptisms symbolize. It is in this sense they are all one.
They were baptizing in water. But anyone can be baptized in water.

when we hear the gospel and Jesus says “whoever believes and is baptized shall be saved “ that’s what makes baotism in his name mean something sure anyone could be. Spritzed in water confessing faith in a frog because they believed the frog was telling them an important truth d they could become followers of the frog d be baptized in his name ….we’re talking about the biblical doctrine of Christianity though . We need to hear the gospel believe it and then get baptized because of believing this message

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If I hear that and believe I’m going to want to clothe myself with the sinless one who died for my sins to take my sins away in his death to remit them

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

airs important to acknolwedge that when we get baptized itnis about remission of our sins in Christs name who died for our sins he did get for you and I that’s why when we believe the message we take his name upon our selves in burial

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:( what if Paul is actuakly teaching something important here regarding why we got baptized that we’re meant to believe ?)

that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What if we’re supposed to believe about baptism like Paul’s teschkng what if we’re supposed to understand baptism means what he’s saying and th ats why we’re buried under the water in Jesus name and raised up from the water having our sins remitted ? What if that’s when we’re meant to hear “ this is my beloved child in whom I am well pleased ?”

I'm just saying that wasn't the baptism Jesus was referring to

So god established two different baptisms then and not baptism for remission of sins ? They baotized before and after the cross thought for remission of sins. And it says there’s just one baptism so Jesus and all his disciples partook of the wrong one ?

this is what baptism is when it’s complete

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.

And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That’s what baptism is after Jesus ascended to the throne it was complete

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, ( baptized by John in Jordan )

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”( the heavens opened and the spirit defended upon him )
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

aand a voice came from heaven saying “ this is my beloved child in whom I am well pleased my hier

“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:26-29‬ ‭

Jesus baptism is what we’re partaking if he had no sins and was baptized on our behalf who have sin and need remission of sins we’re being baptized into the same baptism he partook of

water and spirit if we receive Gods spirit he isn’t going to reject his own doctrine established beforhand water cane first and then Jesus was glorified and sent his spirit at pentocost th ats all John was talking about here

This is a prophecy

“I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭3:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is when it was completed and fulfilled

“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:1, 3-4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What John foretold is now fulfilled because Jesus has been glorified and sent his spirit as promised

“This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:32-33‬ ‭KJV‬‬

bow when someone gets baptized in his name it’s about water and spirit like when Jesus was baptized water for remission in death and spirit for new life

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Coming up out of the water
the spirit descended as a dove upon him

And he heard a voice this is my believed son ……

I guess you didn't read all of my post. I acknowledge that is spiritual baptism because the bible tells me so. However, those verses are looking forward to the outpouring of the HS. When we actually look to see who the bible tells us were actually baptized WITH the HS, it only happened two times and each was a special situation.
You are adding a LOT to the text to get where you're at here. Where in any of these text does it say it will only happen twice. I understand the times you're talking about, but I believe I was baptized in His Spirit. When I was born again, when God granted me repentance He resurrected my dead spirit and reconciled it to His Spirit. This was when my eye's were open, the old man was put to death and I was born again. I am now whole and reconnected to God as we were created to be.

I don't exactly understand where you're getting this iron clad idea that the idea that this baptism of the Spirit only happened two times. Says who?

I'm sure you are familiar with the story of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. After having the scripture explained, the eunuch asks to be baptized. Philip doesn't immediately baptize him, but asks if he believes. Why? We'll come back to this.
Now let's look at Acts 2. Peter has preached to a huge crowd. 3,000 people respond and ask what to do. Countless thousands more do not respond? What's the difference between the 2 responses?
If we look at Acts 2:37, we find the reason for the different responses. Those who became engaged first heard, were pricked in their hearts, and then asked. Those who did not respond did not receive hearing, were not stirred in their hearts, and their response reflects this.
Hearing comes from God. Pricking or circumcising of the heart is the work of God. And it is these works of God that always precedes a response in man. This is why Philip asked the eunuch if he truly believed. Before baptizing him, he wanted to know if the internal work of God had indeed occurred.

Jesus was baptized to fulfill all righteous. He had no sins to remit.

All priests were to undergo baptism at the outset of their duties.

:)
sister jesus was baptized by John in water John was baptizing for repentance and remission of sins .

I’m not saying that Jesus had any sin I’ve never said or thought he did . What I’m saying is Jesus was baptized by John

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judæa, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:4-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

now jesus who had no sin came along and was baptized by John watch what happens when Jesus is baptized remember he has no sin

“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. ( johns baptism is for repentance and remission of sins )

And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:

and there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:9-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

when we sinners get baptized in Jesus name for remission of our sins it absolutely relies on the truth that Jesus never sinned and he who has no sin died because we sinned he’s dying in the sinners name essentially for thier transgressions against God , the sinner is getting baptized into his death who died without sin and was raised up a child of God having thier sins remitted placed upon the sinless sacrifice who rose to life also for the persons justification

baptism has always been about remission of sins notice John told Jesus “ you don’t need my baptism I need yours “ he said that to Jesus because he had no sin to remit , Jesus got baptized on our behalf like we do on his behalf he takes the sin and death and we get the righteousness and life and are called his children

It’s why we get baptized in Jesus name for the remission of sins because he died for our sins and we can join him in baptism accepting his free gift . If someone hands you a gift you also need to reach out and accept it there’s no work done in baotism ots somethkng bekievers do because they believe Jesus died and rose on tbier behalf

so yes indeed sister Jesus had no sin and did t need remission of sins we all need remission of sins Jesus did it so we can do it in his name who died for the sinners so they could hear this and believe and begin to be free

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?( who died without sin )? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:( who died without sin) that like as Christ was raised up from the dead ( who died without sin ) by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, ( who died without sin ) we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, ( who had no sin but died for our sin ) that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin. ( who died with Christ yet lives )

Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: ( we’ll be raised up from death with him )

Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, ( because you died with Jesus in baptism bekieving )

but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. ( who had no sin that we might be made the righteousness of god through him )

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭6:3-8, 11-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus having no sin and dying on our behalf for our sins is how baptism has any power to remit sins and we receive the spirit and name of Gods children in him who were baptized into

He gave his sinless life to God on our behalf so that we could be forgiven for our sins and not due in them they can be remitted in Christs death and I can live through his resurrection

brother I love discussing the Bible with you

“Those who became engaged first heard, were pricked in their hearts, and then asked. Those who did not respond did not receive hearing, were not stirred in their hearts, and their response reflects this.”

So you’re saying some believed and sonthey got baptized for remission of sins in Jesus name ?

aand some didn’t believe and that’s why some didn’t ? I mean yes that’s been a position of mine from the start we need to hear the doctrine in order to believe it but if we refuse to hear it because we already decided against it it doesn’t really help to her it and not believe non believers would never get baptized in Jesus name for reneission of thier sins because they believed Jesus died for thier sins ….only believers would do that some non believers might here ot and mock it or tell people it’s ridiculous to think that ……but believers would believe and then act upon it I think we agree there we do have to hear and believe ….this doesn’t then make baptism irrelevant or less than what it tells us it is is all I’m saying

to believe will save us but we have to accept what we hear for what it is done do that and others don’t seems like your saying this brother

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:1

i might not be understanding though haha anyways even if we disagree brother it’s not something that affects how I think and feel of you or anything I like to challenge certain positions because o feel they are important baptism is something I feel is important but you know my old fool policy disclaimer haha

It seems like baptism is a basic doctrine that Jesus and his disciples established I’m not too

The contention seems to be about whether it is a requirement for salvation, and secondary to that,
is which kind of baptism is required, water baptism, or baptism in/by the Holy Spirit of God. Surely
it is spiritual baptism which seals us unto the day of redemption, when, in the twinkling of an eye,
mortal puts on immortality, and corruption incorruption, by grace through faith in the shed righteous
blood of Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself as a ransom for many, that we may be reconciled to God, attain
to life ever after, and escape the second death. :)

My true goal here is to return to baptism. But I'm trying to lay some groundwork about salvation itself. My last post was an attempt to show that before a person will even come to the place where they will assent to baptism, God has done the work in them that will elicit such a response. That is, those who responded had received first hearing. Without this hearing, faith or belief is not possible.
Secondly, their hearts are pricked or circumcised. Their hearts of stone were removed and they are given a heart of flesh. No longer is their heart contrary to God, but begins to seek after Him.
I would argue that this is the point at which someone is born again and the Spirit takes up residence in the individual and the point where one is placed into the body of Christ. And I believe this is what 1 Corinthians 12:13 is referring to as the one baptism.
I'm going to pause here because I know this isn't what you currently believe and you probably have questions or objections or just need time to shake your head.

Isn’t it faith in Jesus the living lord that saves us ? Who shed his blood as atonement for our sins ?

by grace through faith in the shed righteous blood of Jesus “

Isn’t it faith in Jesus the living lord that saves us ? Who shed his blood as atonement for our sins ?
Why, yes, of course, and that is what I said... which contrasts against the belief that water baptism saves us.

“That is, those who responded had received first hearing. Without this hearing, faith or belief is not possible. “

beother “ hearing is established by those he sent to preach the gospel his everlasting word it’s just a matter of hearing the truth and either acknolwedging it or rejecting it if we don’t just accept and talk about what baptism is no one’s ever going to hear it

“How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:14-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Peter first preached about Jesus life death and resurrection then he said o response to “ what shall we do ?” He said repent and be baptized in Jesus name for remission of sins “

And you’ll receive the Holy Ghost “

For God to work in us we have to accept what he said is my point to hear what he said someone has to say “hey look what he said here “ God knows who’ll hear and get baptized but we’re not looking at it from his perspective from ours it’s a free Will choice based on if we believe he died for our sins God isn’t refusing anyone a chance to repent brother he’s made a way for all to repent and be saved sin in the end everyone is justly rewarded whether good or evil having accepted or rejected the gospel that can save them if they believe

Why, yes, of course, and that is what I said... which contrasts against the belief that water baptism saves us.
Faith saves us. Faith is when you hear what god said and act upon it. Like baptism for remission of sins Water is and has always been part of it. it was designed by God for remission of sins. And sent out as a commission to all people who believe the gospel.

Anyone who wants to know what baptism is and what it’s for only has to hear and believe what the scripture say about it . God designed baptism it’s up tonus to accept it or reject it theres no reason to ever reject it or refuse it though or try to change it from what it is and what it’s for

clearly and irrefutably water is part of baptism for remission of sins before the cross and also after the cross when the church began

“John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:46-47‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18-20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39, 41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭8:35-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

thats baptism

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It happens to involve water by gods design calling it water baptism as if it’s inferior to some different baptism is just not an accurate view of baptism look at Jesus baptism and then what oeter says in acts 2 it’s really plain baptism is just baptism it’s always been the same since pentocost

If hearing that produces faith is physical hearing, why didn't everyone believe? Didn't they all hear the same message?
In Matthew 13, Jesus is teaching parables and is asked why. He responds by saying He speaks in parables because it is GIVEN unto them to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to others it is not given. Hearing that produces faith is a given hearing that imparts understanding to those who receive it. Those who do not understand have not received hearing.

that's baptism

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:4-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Water is also used symbolically in Scripture. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—
whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Moses' baptism
(1 Corinthians 10:2) = nobody got wet. Noah's baptism (
1 Peter 3:20) = nobody got wet. Jesus spoke
symbolically of water a number of times in verses to refer to the Spirit of God, and this is in OT also.
