You understand v.11 to mean Peter had fallen into condemnation?
Exactly, Peter was in serious trouble, even Barnabas had been deceived. I think Paul was shocked that their desertion from the gospel of grace. Had also lured Barnabas into their error.

The Sabbath.. a day of rest in GOD’s Grace. If you accept Christ as your Lord and Saviour you’re part of the New Covenant. Only the Lord can acknowledge you on the day of Judgement. The Royal pardon! The law of love.

The Lord overcame so that we have liberty. You can learn all that is needed if you search the Scriptures. Read the Bible page upon page and seek the truth. You will be condemned, redeemed and set free if you believe in Him. The Good Shepherd knows where you are, be still and follow that voice to the green pastures, by the still waters…

You can only Keep the Sabbath Holy in Christ. Remember to keep it separate…

How so?
How did the Messiah keep it separate? Did he fear to move? It is within you if you love GOD.

There is no burden in the Royal Law.

Let no man teach against His commandments. If 9 are kept in loving GOD and your neighbour.. why not 10? Believe..
The works of the law will always creep into the gospel message.

The gospel is Christ crucified.

Read 1 Corinthians 15, ever so carefully.

Hi there,

Thanks for the message and had a few minutes to share through scripture the answers to your questions.

I’ll first address “keep”

Yes, I agree with the definition of “keep” by Strong, I do find it odd you agree with Strong here, but not his translation on Heb 4:9 which means “the keeping of the Sabbath” for God’s people, but I will get back to the subject.

I will show you two usages for keep- which means guard and observe.

The same word in John 14:15 for keep is also the same greek word used in Math 28:20 the Great Commission

Math 28:20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Which means to do. We are called to be doers of God’s Word, not hearers James 1:22

A good usage of guard is the New Covenant- God’s law written in our hearts which we should guard, or keep there because this is God giving us His righteousness. As long as we are in Him and not rebelling against what He placed in our hearts His law- we will have His righteousness so it is very important to guard God’s law and let no one change our minds as that is an enmity against God Rom 8:7-8

As far as how we are saved. We are only saved by grace through Jesus and His blood. Everyone deserves the death penalty because all has sinned. Jesus died to take the death in our place and when we are in Him, we receive His righteousness. We have no righteousness of ourselves and as soon as we are no longer in Him, which means a relationship with Him we will not have His righteousness. If we remove even one tittle of jot from God’s law Mat 5:18 that He personally writes in our hearts we have cut that relationship, and I don’t mean the occasionally slip and fall that a righteous man will go to Jesus immediately when stumbling for repentance, cleansing and sanctification. I am referring to not hearing His law and being hostile to it. Rom 8:4-8 Paul makes very clear that is the carnal mind and those who are in flesh (sin) cannot please God. If we are in Christ we have a relationship with Him, He is going to be able to mold our hearts and it will be done based on what He deems righteous Psa 119:172 and what He deems Truth Psa 119: 151 and His Righteousness and Truth is never changing, which is why if we break one commandment in the NC we break them all James 2:10-12. All of God’s commandments are about our relationship with God, but the 4th commandment reveals who gives us that power to have that relationship and its the one commandment that God said to Remember, is holy and blessed by God and yet the one commandment man wants to rebel against for some strange reason. It’s almost like they will do anything but that and its the one commandment that God said Remember perhaps for this very reason.

So while we are only saved by the blood of Jesus through faith alone, not everyone who says Lord Lord will be saved. We all have to make it through Judgement before one is deemed righteous and is saved. If we hold on to Christ’s righteousness and not rebel against what He writes in our hearts we be saved by grace through faith by His works, not our because through His power He can change us from the inside out, we just have to have a willing and moldable heart because our ways are not God’s ways and why we have to depend on Him and His righteousness.
More sugar coated double talk that culminates is "salvation by grace plus law, faith plus works." :cautious:

Well said-

Judaism and Christianity share historical roots and foundational beliefs, including monotheism, belief in prophets, and the concept of salvation. They both trace their origins back to Abraham and the Hebrew Scriptures, also known as the Old Testament. Despite significant differences in doctrine, liturgy, and practices, there exists some common ground between the two faiths.

However, Judaism and Christianity do not directly overlap, as Christianity emerged from within Second Temple Judaism during the 1st century CE, emphasizing the role of Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Son of God. This distinction leads to fundamental differences in theological perspectives, particularly regarding the nature of salvation, the interpretation of scripture, and the status of religious law.

Judaism and Islam, on the other hand, have less compatibility due to differing views on central figures and teachings. While Judaism and Christianity share a history and many values, Judaism and Islam are distinct religions with separate histories and theologies.

In summary, although Judaism and Christianity share historical connections and some basic principles, they are fundamentally distinct religions with unique beliefs and practices. There is no direct compatibility between Judaism and Christianity in terms of being mutually exclusive systems of faith.

Sad-but true.
J.
The Sabbath is not from Judaism, it is from God. God identifies the Sabbath in His own Words as My holy day- Isa 58:13 and never did He once claim anything different about changing His holy day for Him or for man. Man took it upon themselves to assign God another holy day, not based on God’s blessing, not based on God’s commandment, not based on God’s sanctification, but based on what God deemed a day to do works and labors Exo 20:9 and changed holy Sabbath to Sunday and the church who made this change that the whole world followed admit they changed from Sabbath to Sunday, not based on any biblical authority but based on their own power which is above the Bible and this change is a mark of their power and authority over God’s Word. We were warned this would happen in scripture Dan 7:25 and that the whole world will be deceived, thats the majority of people, because they choose to follow traditions, something Jesus warned us about over obeying the commandments of God Mat 15:3-14 Mark 7:7-8

The Sabbath started at Creation after God worked 6 days, He rested on the seventh day Gen 2:1-3 and hallowed it. Exo 20:11
He commanded man the same week cycle - work 6 das, keep the seventh day Sabbath holy Exo 20:8-11 because man is made in the image of God- Jesus in His own Words said the Sabbath was made for man Mark 2:27 and the work He used here means mankind. Man was made on the sixth day in the image of God Gen 1:26 and the Sabbath was the very next day that God hallowed made for mankind and was God’s perfect will before the fall of mankind.

Instead of the Sabbath commandment being deleted in the NC as many teach, it is part of God’s eternal law written in the hearts and minds, As long as we don’t rebel against God’s law Rom 7:7-8 we will have Christ righteousness Psa 119:172. Many use an out of context scripture that we are warned about 2 Peter 3:16 to do away with the weekly Sabbath, but if carefully studying that and compare to the teachings of Jesus it is obvious its not about the Sabbath commandment- heaven and earth would pass before one jot or tittle can be changed from God’s law Mat 5:18-30 as no one is above God’s righteousness Psa 119:172 or His work Exo 32:16 or His Truth Psa 119:151. It’s why Jesus kept the Sabbath and the apostles kept every Sabbath Acts 13:42-44 Acts 18:3 decades after the Cross and will be kept for eternity thus saith the Lord. Isa 56:1-7 Isa 66:22-23. There is no scripture that says the Sabbath commandment ha been abrogated- it is God’s holy day and He asks that we not profane His holy things. Eze 22:26. We are to follow every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, I would suggest you read all of the thus saith the Lords on the Sabbath, there are many, it’s a powerful study.

Whatever-the way you read the Scriptures and the way I study Scriptures might not be the same.
Seems you don't do a bit of digging-

I resisted him to the face (kata prosōpon autōi antestēn). Second aorist active indicative (intransitive) of anthistēmi. “I stood against him face to face.” In Jerusalem Paul faced Peter as his equal in rank and sphere of work. In Antioch he looked him in the eye as his superior in character and courage.
Because he stood condemned (hoti kategnōsmenos ēn). Periphrastic past perfect passive of kataginoskō, old verb to know against, to find fault with. In N.T. only here and 1Jn_3:20.

1) "But when Peter was come to Antioch," (hote de elthen kephas eis Antiocheion) "But when Peter came to Antioch of his own accord, on his own)," to the church that first received largely Gentiles- Paul returned there after the Jerusalem Council and preached and taught for near another year, during which time it appears this event occurred, Act_15:35.

2) "I withstood him to the face," (data prosopon auto antesten) "I stood against him, face to face," eyeball to eyeball, not to his back; or Paul Simply confronted him with regards to his fickle and shifting double standard of ethical behavior regarding fellowship and social communion with the Jewish and Gentile brethren.

3) "Because he was to be blamed," (hoti kategnosmenos en) "because he was having been condemned," to be blamed for what he had done;" Peter's influence that was in error in this matter was to be blamed for the acts and deeds of one who influences another or others for good or for bad, Rom_14:7; 1Co_1:12 indicates that rivalry in the Corinth church perhaps had its beginning over this very matter. And note also that this clash of Apostle against Apostle had spread from the continent of Asia to Europe.

NOWHERE do I read Peter has fallen from grace nor abandon the gospel. I am learning "new things" here-contrary to what stands written.

J.
You need to study Galatians chapter two in depth.

I did not say we do any works to save ourselves
It is all by faith.
Jesus is wanting to help us overcome, and the process of continual. An ongoing process of growth. You agree with this state of growth but only in the areas that suit you.
You accept 9 of the 10 commandments but the one that God said to remember or not to forget is the one you say we don't need to keep.

The same process of growth that Jesus is achieving in us by faith, is how we keep the sabbath.

Heb 13:21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

To glorify Jesus we need to let Jesus work His works in us.

No glory to us.

The sabbath is in the NT.

Mat 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Act 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. 10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Colossians 2:16 - Therefore, no one is to act as your judge in regard to food and drink, or in respect to a festival or a new moon, or a Sabbath day— 17 things which are only a shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ.

The same error as Peter in Galatians 2.

Galatians 2:21
I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly.

Galatians 2:16
So that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law.

The Sabbath is one of the major works of the law.

2 things:
1. Christ's righteousness is imputed to us. How does one hang on to it? Is this something we must do? How is this not considered something beyond grace?
2. Is not rebelling another way of saying we must obey? Doesn't this also add to grace alone?
You seem to be of two minds: only by Christ, but also what we need to do. In your words...not rebel...and...have a willing and moldable heart. The latter seems to imply we are to create and maintain the estate of the heart. If it is truly all of grace it would be God producing the obedience and changing the heart, which is what actually occurs.
Lastly, what is your understanding of salvation? What does it consist of?
Hi Cameron.

Yes, what I am describing is Christ righteousness imputed in us. As long as we are in Christ- have a relationship with Him- He imputes His righteousness as we have none of our own. If we are in a relationship with Christ we would not be hostile to God’s law in any way Rom 8:7-8 so as long as we have Christ in us, we have His imputed righteousness and are not rebelling against His commandments but keeping through faith and through His righteousness. Christ does not remove His righteousness, we remove it from Him if we fall away and choose our righteousness over His.

Many misunderstand grace. We all have sinned and deserve death, but through Christ He took that penalty and gives us grace. It’s like when one is pulled over for speeding for going over the posted law on speed. If you plead with the officer and promise not to speed again the officer may give you grace. Did grace remove the law? If after receiving grace, and you speed out of there, chances are the officer is going to pull you over again and this time he will give you a ticket. But if we keep the posted speed limit we are living in grace and don’t have to worry about the law because one is keeping it.

Paul does a good job of explaining grace and how if we are living in Christ we have buried our sins in Christ meaning we are being obedient to God’s law.

Romans 6:1 6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

I have studied Romans and all of Paul writings, but when we start believing Paul was not a servant of Christ and taught something different than Jesus, we really should consider the warning of his writing for this very reason. 2 Peter 3:16

Paul didn’t believe what you think he taught because he kept faithfully every Sabbath in scripture 30 years after the Cross. Thats a lot of Sabbath-keeping. Paul doesn’t have the authority to reverse one of God’s commandments, nor would he as he was His faithful servant Romans 1:1 and this is what faithful servants do Isa 56:1-6 as we should be. For me I would want a thus saith the Lord if I was not going to keep what God said for us to Remember and is one His His commandments that is under His mercy- seat breaking one we break them all James 2:10-12. Maybe one day you will reconsider. God bless.

The Sabbath is listed in the spoken words at Mt Sinai.

The Sabbath is definitely a work of the law.

Any attempt by the human will to obey a law is a work of the law.

Unfortunately, you selected one of the heavier works of the law to follow.

You must be kidding yourself.

The Sabbath has a Preparation day before it.

Your telling me that the Sabbath day and the Preparation day are not a work of the law??????

Why keep any laws?
You said 9 of the 10 are to be kept.

For the same reason you keep the law "thou shalt not murder" I keep the law to keep the sabbath holy.

The weekly sabbath is not a shadow law.

Why did God include it in the 10 commandments? And place it inside the ark?. If it was a shadow law that was removed at the cross Why did Jesus not clearly say it was ended. He said...Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
No verse states that the sabbath has finished.

The verse in col 2 is about cerimonial laws which the weekly sabbath is not.

It was made holy before sin. Before a saviour was needed.

Grace through faith is how we are saved. Keeping God’s law is a consequence of faith. Not sure how one can claim to have faith in Jesus, but not faith in His teachings. That’s why faith upholds God’s law. Rom 3:31 Rev 14:12

1 Corinthians 2:2-5
For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. I also was with you in weakness and fear, and in great trembling, and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of mankind, but on the power of God.

Galatians 2:15-16
“We are Jews by nature and not sinners from the Gentiles; nevertheless, knowing that a person is not justified by works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law.

Are you obedient to Jesus Christ or are you obedient to the law?

My point was that you always put the onus of salvation back on the individual. Wouldn't true grace see that the job was completed? Also, what does salvation consist in?
