The demon of Sadness is one of the worst, he can make you lose interest in everything that life has to offer (pleasures of the flesh), which all the other demons want you to engage, still, at the same time, he makes you forget about one of the most important things in life, rejoicing in the Lord.

"Why do you keep far away, O Lord? Why are you not to be seen in times of trouble?" (Psalm 10:1)
I know what this verse means... just a bit...
Certainly believers can all experience depression. Even following great spiritual victories that turned his country back to the Lord, Elijah got very depressed and wanted to die.

Yes, sir. I think we as believers can experience depression and sometimes do. 😌

"Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God."
Psalm 42:5

And then Job... Surely he experienced it too.

Couldn't depression perhaps be a part of the "valley of the shadow of death" mentioned in the 23rd Psalm as well?

But at the same time, the Bible instructs us to rejoice always. This can be difficult, as we live in this body of flesh.

May God give us grace to persevere and be overcomers. The Best is Yet to Be! ✨

Psalm 61: 2
61 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

I believe there are a number of factors that can cause depression. It is important to look at the state of feeling low or feeling far from God or depressed from the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Physically- Are you sick, injured, tired, not eating or sleeping well, , lack of exercise, hormone levels normal, blood sugar levels, etc. Is there anything physically wrong because this can cause depression. Mentally- What are the persistent thoughts in your mind? What are you dwelling on? What are you saying to yourself? Our thoughts cause emotions. Allowing persistent negative thoughts can cause us to fall into depression. Emotional- How are your stress levels? Are you experiencing joy? Is there loss in your life? Has there been a disappointment? Is there an ending of something important? Are you going through a transition? Is there a trauma you have experienced? Has something happened that has triggered a past trauma? All of these situations can make us feel sad and if not addressed, it can lead to depression. Lastly, as Christians, we know the enemy is the father of lies and lies continually. John 10:10 The enemy will try to rob us of the abundant life, Jesus died to give us. One way he does this is through lies. Write down what you are thinking about so you can see the lies, that you may be believing. Distinguish them as lies. Bring God's truth. Jesus will never leave you or forsake you. Reach out to your Christian community, ask for help, and find a Christian counselor. Every Christian goes through these battles, but you don't have to do it alone. There are so many resources. Here is one that is very good for on line Christian counseling. www.betterhelp.com God bless you!!!!!!!!! Be kind to yourself! So many of the warriors for God in the Bible faced this same challenge. You are not alone!
