“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.

And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his Lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. Then the Lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.

But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their Lord all that was done. Then his Lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? And his Lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.

So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭18:21-35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

whats jesus the king teachings here ?

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged:

condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned:

forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36-38‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s important to hear what Jesus is saying about his everlasting kingdom

“And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭10:42‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Because of that we need to follow his word especially regarding mercy and forgiveness. We can be judged without mercy if we don’t show it to others

“So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.”
‭‭James‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s really important that we don’t change the things he’s taught. He wants us to hear what he said and believe those things

just as he forgave us our sins , he’s called us to be like him and forgive others who sin against us . It came also with a warning meant to press us onto that way of life his design is good it’s meant to be that way sound like he’s pressing us to action because he is

This presses an unforgiving person towards forgivness if we don’t try to alter it but instead accept it

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

If I believe that I’ve gained a great treasure when it comes to my own judgement because he is telling me who is going to judge me , “be merciful to others forgive them don’t judge and condemn them “ and that’s the judgement you’ll receive also when it comes to your sins “

Consider letting jesus teach the gospel to us believers

Not too many Christians believe that unforgiveness is acceptable to God. The problem is how to forgive those who offend us. Some wrongs are trivial and its easy to let go. Others are beyond our power to forgive. There is an answer. The article I post from time to time has helped many Christians get off the cycle of unforgiveness, bitterness and resentment. Wrong. Who do you know that has truly forgiven a major offence from his heart? You do not know the reality of the salvation that Jesus bought for us with the highest possible price. Eternal life is exactly that, eternal. Jesus is the resurrection and the life. If we believe, we have eternal life and we shall never die. (John 11:25). That is the sole qualification for salvation.

Many Christians suffer much because they do not forgive. One reason is that they do not know how to forgive. From the mind, it is easy. From the heart it is, at times, impossible. Be careful how you judge, because you might find yourself in a situation that exposes your inability to forgive. The hell the unforgiving believer suffers is in this life, not the next.

Your self righteous attitude will bring you undone, sooner or later.

Hi not sure where you got OSAS save from this. Christ already died for the sin of the world. So there is no judgment coming for me other then the bema seat. Forgiveness does not can not effect my salvation. Now me not forgiving will effect my walk my relationship with God. We really need to understand who they were talking to at the time and I agree we do change His word. Some do it by shouting/yelling part of scripture that they want us to understand...its not the holy Spirit doing it its man. See this happens all the time for me but.. its Him talking to me. Yet its never shouting never.. those are things that stand out to them that God is speaking. But oh we as believers just love to judge others tell them show them how they should really be living.

So take James 2:10 some early Christians seemed to adopt the attitude of the Pharisees who were meticulous in observing laws and traditions they liked but disregarded others. They showed no mercy in wanting to impose judgment even when true repentance was demonstrated.

Yeah the thing is many Christian’s don’t believe what’s said there

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s hard for Christina to hear that part which is what’s meant to press then forward into repentance

It’s a deception they have been taught no one needs to do anything you don’t need to obey Jesus you’ll never be judged you don’t need to repent you don’t even really need to get baptized ect ect ect

they are being taught not to ever actually believe the things Jesus taught by default because he taught his disciples what to believe and do to be saved and the message they have cling to is “ your already saved by grace you don’t need to repent and believe the gospel ….

its insane because it’s refuted continually in scriptire but it makes sense because we’re told there would be a powerful delusion that would blind folks to the truth

Good points it’s tough to forgive sometimes.
It’s hard to turn the other cheek when offended and it’s not a natural human response to an offense that’s the e whole reason Jesus is teaching what he’s teaching in the gospel he sent out to witness to everyone but some reject it others hear and accept it

Jesus words always make for a good post on my opinion …..Eggcellent addition !!! and point

mercy should be a continual daily attitude in our mind and heart and a constant part of prayer life . when we remember how much he’s forgiven us for when we didn’t deserve it , that whole forgiveness is hard thing is gone it’s when we forget about our own sins and his mercy that it becomes hard when we look too hard at everyone else and not ourselves

“And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any:

that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

a I can testify that if we start praying and making forgivness part of that it has power to change a hard heart. What if we believers stopped saying no one can do these things and started praying about it asking the lord to make us able ?

If I may flavor the soup a bit...

After Jesus spoke the above about forgiveness, He died, was raised as Christ, and said this:

"And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

If the imperative regarding forgiveness is "Forgive everyone for anything" then how are we to address Paul's words here:

"Alexander the Coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works. 15 You also must beware of him, for he has greatly resisted our words."

If the works of the Coppersmith are forgiven, then there is no debt to be paid. Yet, if the works required a repayment by the Lord (which is true according to Paul), then the cost of his works remained on the books as a debt, so to speak.

Sure.

The context of the statement is right before the passage above:

"So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.

Together it is this:

"So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

it's a funny thing but haven't you had me on ignore for weeks.

You need to practice what you preach 😊

The best part is you chose to ignore me because I spoke the truth.

And now you preach what you don't do.

I would call you a hypocrite 😊

I apologize: I hit “post” too early.

The premise is this:

In the beginning, when God said “let there be light” He was revealing His character in time and space. Man was created to reflect this character in the earth. In this way, man was made in the image of God: created with the purpose to reflect the light of God, wherever he is.

God is light and this is why man, restored back to his original intent through Christ, is called “the light of the world”. While God may certainly show himself apart from man, man was created to manifest the image of God. So today, because of Christ, God shows up primarily through those who are in Christ. The finished work on the cross and men’s belief in that work makes this possible today. In other words, even though it was God’s original intent that Adam and Eve be made in the image and likeness of Him, it was not until Jesus that a man was found who exactly represented God in His fullness.

So, now there are two sons in the Earth: one son is Adam, who continues in his fallenness; the other son is Christ, who displays the image and likeness of his Father. All who are born again are found in Christ and make up the body of the Son of His love.
