Hi, I noticed ABC channel is premiering "The Exodus" for Easter and was wondering if anyone else has seen this film. It is the 1950s(?) version. I was also wondering what could be the parallel for this movie and Easter. Usually we are accustomed to the various Jesus films that show the death and resurrection for Christ on Easter but today we have "The Exodus". Have you ever viewed salvation through the eyes of "The Exodus" where Pharaoh and his armies are our various troubles? Just love this movie and the costumes are great! Have a holy Easter everyone!
Do you mean The Ten Commandments movie? It's been a tradition on ABC at Easter for a long time.
The connection between Easter and the Exodus is the Passover. Passover was established when the Hebrew slaves were delivered from bondage in Egypt. In the King James New Testament, where the word "Easter" is found, it's a "translation" of the Greek
pascha, which means Passover. I put "translation" in quotes because it's not a translation at all, but a substitution.
That is the connection between Easter and the Exodus; it's about the Passover. And the Lord's sacrifice and resurrection of course, which took place during the Passover in Jerusalem.
