you can't find the post in this thread wherein anyone has stated we are saved because our of choice, so you deviate with your copy/paste.

and fyi ... @Genez already submitted a post which indicates that arminianism and calvinism are both wrong.

You would do well to study Scripture.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
.
you do well to humble yourself because God resists the proud and only gives grace to the humble who know they can not save themselves and therefore cry out to Him to do so.

there are many who think they are Christians who will miss Heaven by 18 inches which is the distance between their head and their heart.
The heart is in your head.

Look how "heart" is used in the Bible!
Its about how and what we think!
Not about how we emote/feel about an issue.

Proverbs 23:7 says, “As he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Hebrews 4:12 talks about the thoughts and intents of the heart.

See what I mean about "dumb" Christians?

Don't worry... ;) You're saved!

You won't gain Gods respect by boasting about your gift of intelligence and how you're smarter than other Christians. God is no respecter of persons, your wisdom is foolishness to Him and your best works are just filthy stinking rags in His sight.

God doesn't save people based on how smart they think they are, nobody know who Go has chosen to save or why.
 ... whatever Charlie_2024. I think the one who's boasting is the one who claims he doesn't "believe there's anything new for [him] to know" and when someone shares some insight they have gleaned the one boasting claims "to suggest that there's so much more to know is to admit you still don't know what the gospel has reavealed" ...

so I think we can just let that rest and leave it to God to sort out ...

you know those verses in 1 Cor 1 where God talks about how He has chosen the foolish things ... the weak things ... the base things?

well ... the words "foolish things" are translated from the Greek word mōros, from which we get our English word "moron".

the words "weak things" are translated from the Greek word asthenēs, which means incapable.

the words "base things" are translated from the Greek word agenēs, which means insignificant.

"despised" is the Greek word exoutheneō, which means those treated with contempt or scorn.

1 Corinthians 1:

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things [Greek mōros] of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things [Greek asthenēs] of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things [Greek agenēs] of the world, and things which are despised [Greek exoutheneō], hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

And before you accuse me of some sort of "boasting" or whatever, I was taught the Greek words by my pastor and I looked up the words just as God tells us to do.

I just think it's funny that we puff ourselves up thinking we're all that and a bag of chips ... only to have the rug ripped beneath our feet by the Creator of the universe telling us He chose the morons, the incapable, the insignificant, the contemptible. Yeah, I'm all those things and God loves me!!!

I was saved because I accepted Jesus Christ having died for my sins.
I had to "accept it" because I was brought up as a Jew being told not to believe it.

Are you telling me I am not saved?

in Christ ................
if you are trusting in anything you have done to be saved then you do not yet understand what grace means.

True faith is God changing the will of a person to live, suffer and die for Him. It is not simply a head knowledge but a heart knowledge.

That's fine but the problem remains, who or what is the Church. How do you define the Church and do you define a member of the Church.
According to Scripture, the "church" in our day and time is comprised of born again believers. According to Colossians 1:18, the Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of His body (the church) and according to 1 Cor 12:27 each born again one is a member in particular.

see Rom 12:4-5; 1 Cor 12:12-27; Eph 1:22-23; Eph 3:4-11; Eph 4:3-4; Eph 4:12; Eph 4:15-16; Col 1:18; Col 2:16-19; Col 3:12-17.

Then we have man's definition of "church" – as in the churches we attend. To me, the church is not the building, but the folks who are in the building. Without the people, the structure we call a "church" is just a building ... kind of like the difference between a house and a home. A house is just a building where a family dwells. A home is the family that dwells in the house. I hope I'm explaining that properly.

We have over 2 billion people claiming to be Christians - Members of the Body. Of those we have child rapists, murderers and all kinds of weird and wonderful people
Do you know how God classifies people in our day and time? In 1 Cor 10:32, He shows us 3 classifications:

1 Corinthians 10:32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

The reference to jews and gentiles is to unsaved jews/gentiles.

The church of God are the born again ones comprised of both jews and gentiles.

We (mankind) are the ones who make all these distinctions (Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc., etc.).

And within each of these churches we attend, there are both born again believers and non-born again folks. And all believe they are born again. God is the One Who knows the hearts of all mankind. He knows Who are His children. It's not up to us to figure out who is and who isn't ... the born again ones are to hold out to all with whom we come into contact that fruit of the Spirit. It's not "fruit" that we produce in and of ourselves ... it is fruit produced within and all we have to do is hold it out to others ... just like fruit produced on a tree. The branch doesn’t produce the fruit. The tree produces the fruit ... the branch holds it out.

iow ... we just need to get out of the way and let that which God works within to will and to do of His good pleasure shine forth to all we meet.

are you suggesting that everyone who says Lord Lord is a member???

What must one do beyond accepting Christ to be saved?

Besides faith?
What work do you deem needed to be saved?

:coffee::coffee::coffee:
it is not the work of man but the work of Christ that saves any and the faith to trust the person and work of Christ is granted to those He loves through the message of the Gospel which goes forth into all the world wherein many are called but few are chosen (Mat 22:14).

Those who are chosen are brought to see themselves as God sees them and not as they suppose others may see them. They are convicted by the Holy Spirit of their sin which is not just what a person does but what a person is and are brought to see that they are justly under God's wrath, deserving of Hell and cry out to Him for mercy knowing that they have no righteousness of their own and cling to His grace alone for salvation.

unless you are humbled by God's grace to submit to Him as being the source for faith and not yourself then you are still under the curse no matter how holy you may claim to be.

Heb_12:2a looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith,
belief in God is the fruit of salvation and not a condition to it. The demons believed Christ but are condemned. True faith is a gift of God to the humble who look to Him to grant to them what is impossible for them to do. Such faith makes a person willing to die to themselves and live, suffer and die for Christ who did so for them. If someone put a gun to your head right now and said deny Christ to live, what would you do?
I'm tired of repeating myself and you ignoring what I say. Faith is a gift. I have said it repeatedly. Faith in God is the fruit of salvation, not believing. Believing is an act of our volition. We either believe the truth or we do not. Believing there is one God (Jam.2:19) is not believing the Gospel which is the power of God unto salvation.

Exactly who do you think you are that you think you have the right to put me to the test? You know nothing about my life, what I have faced or what I am facing now. You are a divisive person who needs to take some of their own medicine and humble themselves and submit to His grace. It would matter not what I say to your ludicrous question because you would choose not to believe me anyway. This is symptomatic of your bullying tactics that you would think to put a gun to people's heads. Shame on you.

Our "discussion" is finished. Have a nice day.

grace and peace.

Paul was a genius.....
But, God did not save Paul because he was a genius.

Peter was kind of dumb.
But, God did not save Peter because he was kind of dumb.

Anyone could understand what I just said... :coffee:

Some of us will have ears to hear..
Others.. will fuss, and hear with their rear.

In the mean while?
Be of good cheer.....

For the Lord has said...

There is nothing used against the truth to fear!

Again.. God's power of grace takes care of that whole mess. Its simple.

Its Satan that wants to make it complex and confusing...

Do you even know what you are doing?
Men by nature are unwilling and at enmity against God, will not and cant submit to God. Yes Gods Power changes things for the elect when He gives them regeneration, but He doesnt do that for all humanity unless you believe in universalism which is a lie. Does Gods power and Grace regenerate all humanity ? Yes or no ?

Wow man, I can't believe you reject what God said and claim to be a believer.

What are you talking about saying "before Jesus met Saul" have you forgotten the fact that Jesus never meet Saul. He created silly Saul, He knew Saul before time began. I would urge you to buy a proper bible and liberate yourself from confusion

All of that sounds like Eastern Mysticism, it's just human philosophy and none of it is supported by the bible. You don't get to superimpose your private interpretation of the bible. In fact you re commanded to live by every Word that proceeds from Gods mouth, and never ever ever ever, question anything or try to change anything.

Just trust and obey, but don't you ever question or reject anything He said. If you simply trust and obey you won't get lost in all of this philosophical unbiblical nonsense

As long as a Christian remains ignorant of sound doctrinal teachings on a steady basis?

That will hold true.

Sound doctrine will quite often show you things you would never guess....
only the doctrine of people led by Christ is sound including jean Calvin 😊
