It all started with an apple. The thirst of knowledge. The curiosity that didn't kill the cat, but the innocence of mankind.

'for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. '

Genesis 3:5
https://www.bible.com/bible/1/GEN.3.5

It is funny to think of how knowledge is the root of all the troubles we face today. If women were not thirsty for knowledge, we wouldn't have access to Universities, we wouldn't have learnt to read, no suffragettes, no knowledge about contraception nor abortion. We would live in a bliss of ignorance, serving our God and our husbands and families. Wouldn't that be great? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Every prideful fiber in my being shouts out. I want to read my books, have my education and my profession. And of course i should vote and even stand for election. And, as many female will add, of course I want to decide our my sexuality and body. My body, my choice. Does it sound familiar?

And we have all the knowledge at hand through the internet. And now we can even write essays on complex issues by the help of Ai.

'But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. '

Daniel 12:4
https://www.bible.com/bible/1/DAN.12.4

And it is worth noticing that the knowledge based society is favouring women. Girls score better during high school, more boys than girls drop out of school (I am basing this on Norwegian stats, but I guess it is the same in the US and most of the Western countries), more young women than men take a University degree. Thanks to Eve, women now can take part of the knowledge through studies thousands of years after the apple, and take place among men as leaders of countries and nations. Still men earn more...

Knowledge creates envy. Creates turmoil. Even revolutions.

And internet... Now the whole world get knowledge about how other people live. The unjust differences between developing countries and "the West". Hatred against the old colonial nations, refugees risking their lives in pursuit of a life in the free World, with big houses and cars. A life of plenty. Knowledge of how other people live is creating dreams of a better life. And envy is a force to be reckoned with.

Wouldn't it be nice without all the knowledge of the world at our fingertips? Ignorance is a bliss.

But I don't want to go back. I don't want the injustices of the past. I want to live in an enlightened World. I want that knowledge shall turn over institutions that suppress people. I applaud the brave men and women that stand up against dictatorship and undemocratic rule. And personally, I thrive when I can talk about all the nerdy knowledge I have accumulated during the years. Knowledge makes me understand myself and the World around me. It makes me independent and give me a worth I wouldn't give up.

But haven't we then become gods? Do we need God? Are we able to truly humble ourselves and admit that although we have all the knowledge in the world we don't really know anything?

'For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. '

1 Corinthians 13:12

You mean, for example, that the forbidden fruit was not an apple...? :D

Well. I tried to say that the thirst of knowledge (apple) is what drives humankind forward but also away from God. And it is irreversible and creates social instability. It would be great to go back in the time before the fall, but that won't happen. So we are kind of stuck in the drive for more knowledge, knowing that it drives us away from God and yet we think knowledge is good, no matter what. I know this was badly formulated, and my thoughts are not processed properly, but the blog was just my way of trying to figure things out.

Seeking wisdom is not necessarily against the will of God the way I see it.

The apple is already eaten and now we have to get by the best way we can. Denying knowledge and wisdom will not solve anything. I am truly grateful for living in a time where women can make our own money, take higher education, work and travel freely. I know these hard earned rights are under attack from extremists of all kinds, but I know that we will overcome.

jennymae brought in a key element in regard to the mitigation of knowledge, wisdom is the ability to apply the knowledge that we've gained, rightly, and indeed we are directed get wisdom which is made available to everyone that asks.

I agree that from a human point of view I love the way knowledge has made the world open to us women is good and we cant reverse that. But knowledge and wisdom are two different things, and without the wisdom you end up with envy and social instability.

I'm confused, if their eyes were opened after eating an apple where did they get fig leaves from?

More than one tree in the garden?

So why do we think they were eating apples and not figs? It seems to me that the "fig tree generation" indicates a sinful generation.

Does the Bible ever say the "apple tree generation"?

While it is good to ask questions, it is also wise to ask if it they are important. We know the original sin started with the disobedience of Eve when she ate the fruit of the forbidden tree Be it an apple. fig, or even pear, it was fruit she wasn't supposed to touch.

No apple mentioned in Genesis. Regardless, they ate the fruit of their disobedience...

Because it provides a different interpretation of "the fig tree generation"

1 Corinthians 13:12
The sin wasn't in wanting knowledge. The sin was in disobeying God to get it.

Satan can't offer you anything good that wasn't created by God, so he offers it in inappropriate ways, inappropriate times, or convinces you that God is trying to keep something good from you so you will try to get it behind God's back instead of just asking for it. For example, everything God made is good. God made sex. Satan then tries to offer it to you outside of marriage. It then goes from a blessing to a curse.

Ballaurena is correct and told the truth. Read 2 Corinthians chapter 11. Peace.
