One of those things that I never hear about Israel is the city of Sepphoris.

And it was a huge city...the one that Jesus commuted to every day to work. A city with paved stone streets, sidewalks with mosaics, and 2 shopping malls. A huge Rabbinic center full of Rabbi, scribes, and Pharisees....also lots of mikvehs.

As well as their own bank, coins, theatre, public baths, military presence...subdivisions and paved road to Tiberus.

Just saying....

All of that - and, you are not going to give us the slightest clue as to what happened to it?

(Or, did I miss something somewhere?)

What happened to it?
Nothing happened to it.

It was still an important city when Constantine became Emperor...
It was of course still standing during the second Jewish revolt of 153 AD. (80+ years after Jerusalem's destruction)

Eventually the city and most of Palestine became largely abandoned over the centuries. (De-urbanization was Common in the Middle East and city pride was a common thing)

You have to understand the importance of Banking....
Banks, a Jewish invention, were often owned and operated by Jews. This provided a means of commerce beyond the simple barter systems that we envision with a commodity based economy.

Sepphoris was also a crossroads city on a hill. Viamelach and Viamaris had a connecting road here as well as an established road to Tiberus. (Another important city on the Sea of Galilee).

This city held the palace of Herod Antipas....the guy who beheaded John the Baptist whom Jesus avoided when possible. (Couldn't after he was arrested)
Jesus called Herod a "fox"....an unclean animal like a pig or mule but smarter and sneaker.

To this day, EVERY archeological excavation team is pouring over its ruins searching for stone Mason markings in the hope that one day they will find one that has Jesus's mark. Because then that stone will be "hand carved by God"....and anything belonging to God is holy...like a chair.

Sepphoris also had a huge Rabbinic center. Most of the scribes, pharisees and etc that came after Jesus in the northern area of Israel came from this city.

Jesus worked every day just like his father and brothers....he was familiar with commuting and traffic except it was always foot traffic....the most frustrating type.
A family worked to provide for the entire family....not just themselves. They provided for his mother and sisters. Jesus was required by Mosaic Law to work for the whole family and his mother until age 30 when he would be released from doing so. Some did some did not depending upon the situation. As Jesus had a ministry tour to accomplish the working in construction for wages was left up to his brothers. (James, Jude and?)

Jesus got himself baptized by John the Baptist and subsequently John got imprisoned by Herod Antipas at Sepphoris. (Where Herod's palace was at, the bank was there, and the prison)

Nazareth, while greatly heralded and mentioned was nothing more than a very small community that was more of a suburb city of Sepphoris than anything else. Of course Joseph and his sons worked in Sepphoris every day. Joseph was worried about the other leaders of territories. Herod tried to at least please the Jews and provided many building projects which created jobs.

Perhaps, I misunderstood your initial statement. Thanks for the explanation.
Sokay....
I really enjoy studying the entire environment that Jesus and the Apostles ministered inside of. The political landscape, the religious landscape, and economic environment. How the people lived and were behaving.
And the Chosen series is such a joke about demonstrating it ....it's really pathetic.

Today I was asked to be in a Nationwide Study of the effects of congestive heart failure on the brain. Cool, huh? It isn't the VA. I will be working with the Heart Care Center in downtown Oklahoma City.

Have no idea yet what it will entail. Will find out in the coming days.

:)

(yes Dan, I do have a brain....sigh)

Likely a bit of extra tests, CT scans, and cognitive reasoning tests. Maybe some psych evaluation....blood tests.

Depends upon what exactly they are looking for. You might get something small in return like a Starbucks gift card.

The hypothesis is either proven or disproven by the large data sets....which remain forever to perform all sorts of other tests later. Especially if samples exist. The selling of these samples is BIG business.

Some of the threads and questions in some of the Bible forums are just plain stupid. I mean come on. One thread said, “Why doesn’t the Bible just say… such and such?” How can we know that? Why can’t we just fly? Why don’t pigs lay eggs? Why can’t I just have a million dollars?

Another thread said “Well you if God forgives murderers, rapists, and criminals, and they’re in Heaven, then I don’t want to go. I don’t know what to do.” I am not making this up.

Well, I was born at a very young age. I was always so homely I couldn't even get the dog to play with me. Momma always told me I has handsome though but she always looked kind of doubtful when she said it.
WTH are you talking about lol. I’m laughing at that first sentence 😆
