All I know is what I've heard. I haven't had any problems that require that solution... Yet... So I have no empirical data on how the effectiveness decreases over time.

It's like many other drugs/chemicals. If you use it constantly, your body will build up a "tolerance" for it, so it takes more of it to achieve the same effect.
Back when I was acting the fool, hanging out in bars, etc, it was no problem for me to drink a couple of pitchers of beer, ending up slightly buzzed.
Now, one beer is enough... two, sometimes, but any more than that is too much.
My system cannot handle "too much" alcohol... if I have one more than my "limit", I get sick to my stomach.... takes all the fun out of it.

Is it okay to drink a beer?
You will not go to hell for drinking a beer.. The Bible teaches us to avoid getting drunk.. So with moderation there is no problem in drinking beer.. So if you are the type of person who cannot stop drinking after you have drank one or two beers then you should totally abstain from drinking at all..

Only if you are methodist or catholic....for Southern Baptists it's one of those mortal sins. Not exactly sure where AOG or COC or 7thDA stand on it exactly.

Me? I'm into antidisestablishmentarianism.....so I won't tell you to buck the trend....
But I attend a Baptist church and they know beyond all shadow of doubt that I drink....I just have a really difficult time remembering to actually consume alcoholic beverages on a recreational basis. I usually got too much going on even though I cook with it semi regularly.
I've made it a new year's resolution for a couple years now....because I keep breaking the resolution.

So....

There are the first two mentions of alcohol in scripture with bad outcomes both times. Noah got drunk and then naked....then Lot got drunk and slept with his daughters after his wife died.
