I think it would be a bad idea if she got a gun.

Don't get me wrong. If she shot someone, he would certainly deserve it. But she would probably go to jail. I get the feeling she would not observe all the legal technicalities before shooting him.

I'm sure there are others that I can't remember right now.
I haven't forgotten the suggestion that good old TP is deserving of a thread of its own! :D

I definitely think it's a worthy thread topic for the future ; I just haven't quite worked through all the "plys" for a decent thread introduction yet. :geek::unsure:

For the record, there isn't anyone in my life I would want to shoot (at least not currently; ask me again next month), but yes, some of the people here know me all too well. ❤️

Deodorant?

It's way too easy to just scrape by, literally, every morning and then forget to get another stick until the next morning when you are scraping by again. Really need to have a backup stick at all times.

Oh boy.

You don't want to even get me started on all the beauty product backups I have... Every time I find something that works, they almost always immediately discontinue it, so I find myself with a cupboard full of all kinds of things I'm afraid to run out of.

Bottles of lotion in every room because my hands crack open, styling products I'll never find again if I don't load up, and even 4 pairs of the same shorts because they have button flys (which I haven't seen since the 80's and just fit me better,) and I knew I'd never see them again after that season.

I always try to save up a little "hoarding" money on the side so that when I actually find something effective, I can hopefully get as many as they have, just in case.

And that's another thing. Backup funds, for if I find something really good and want to buy all they have. (This frequently happens at the local salvage grocery. I go there find neat things, and I know if I find something really good I'll never see it there again.)

Do you have time to list makeup products you have emergency backups of? Just idly curious.

There aren't enough pages in these forums. 😎😬🤣
Spoilsport. I gave you a perfect setup and you just let it sit there.:p
LOL!!

All right, Mr. Whiskers -- now that you've turned it into a challenge, you're on!!:ROFL::ROFL:

* Sidenote * -- if you ever need a friend to be excited over something with you, Lynx is that guy -- for both girl and guy friends. One Christmas I scored the jackpot on 50% off beauty products, and he wanted to know what I got. I told him, "Oh you know, just a few things..." I didn't want to bore him -- he's a guy -- but he wanted to know about each and every thing I picked up and why i was excited about them! And I've seen him do this in chats with other people as well -- he is genuinely interested in the things that interest you! So if you ever need to someone to proudly tell about your latest prowl, be sure to look him up! :)

And now that's he's pretty much dared me to list just a part of my "collection" (accumulated over a very long time, with money set aside just for backups): :p

1. This is actually because of a former CC member who was a professional esthetician -- 10 bottles of a certain face toner that really, really helped my dry skin -- but they stopped making it (of course!) and I'm on my last bottle. The "new" versions they've come out with are hot garbage, in my humble opinion.

2. 4 pairs of Hanes knit shorts in a certain style that COVERS EVERYTHING (no booty shorts here!!) AND HAS POCKETS, hallelujah!

3. 3 pairs of Under Armor flip flops that DON'T go between the toes (SHUDDER) and have velcro fasteners that can be adjusted.

4. 3 bottles of Hawaiian Tropic Sport sunscreen SPF 50, because it's becoming woefully hard to find. It's one of the best I've ever tried -- non-greasy, dries down almost completely, and has a fresh coconut scent.

5. 2 jars of Palmers Retinol Night Cream, bought when I was visiting a friend, because it's not in stores here and the prices are jacked up online.

6. 4 bottles of Suave curly hair mousse, because it's thicker and has more hold than any other I've tried. But like most everything else, I don't always find it in the store, so I'm building an arsenal while I can.

7. 4 100-count boxes of individual preservative-free eye drops, because I use them constantly and Costco has the biggest size -- and best prices.

8. 6 bottles of sensitive skin face wash that (unlike others) doesn't dry out my skin, but I can't find it in stores or online so when this is gone, I'll have to start the frustrating hunt all over again -- grrr!

Uh... I think I better stop here. o_O

And yes, one of the biggest challenges is calculating just how much you can buy and use up before products with a set shelf life will expire. o_O

That’s the problem with makeup. It doesn’t last long, probably because then we’ll have to renew it on a monthly basis. Old makeup doesn’t smell good.😇😂

Is the avocado oil for cooking... or bathing? 😆

Sorry... it's just that you mentioned those oils right after deodorant, bath soap, and toothpaste...

I just couldn't resist. 😎

I dunno... They're trying to put avocado oil in everything these days. I wouldn't be surprised if there was an avocado oil shampoo.

They've got avocado in more things than your hydraulic acid, or whatever hyaluronic or something that acid is you talk about.

Hey Everyone,

This thread is inspired by:

1. Someone in one of the coffee threads who said they have 12 different ways to make coffee... We shall withhold any names to protect the person going to such awe-inspiring lengths to be prepared in any situation that might result in not having coffee! :)

And:

2. A friend who has backups for things I never even really thought of backing up (making it interesting to see how different -- and perhaps lame -- my priorities are compared to others!) :D

* What are the things you don't like going with out, and feel like a must to have extras of on hand?

As for me...

- I'm very particular about being on time -- before I ever got a smart phone, I had a clock in every room -- sometimes more than one, so I could see a clock from any angle.

- I have very dry, sensitive eyes that require single-vial, preservative-free eyedrops. It actually becomes painful if I go too long without them, so I always carry extra eyedrops everywhere: in my pockets, purse, backpack, and in every room.

- One of my bad habits has always been chewing on my lips, just as kind of a nervous reflex. But if I always wear lip balm, I'm able to resist -- I have an extra lip balm stored in all the places I have the eye drops.

- And even before the pandemic, I always kept a few backup packages of toilet paper!

What about you?

What are some things you need to have backups of in order to feel more comfortable?

* Food, health, beauty, and hygiene products? Food and water for weather emergencies? (In case of tornados, hurricanes, etc.)

* Electronics, machinery, generators, equipment and tools?

* Miscellaneous supplies (firewood?) survival gear, various forms of security? (Home cameras and monitoring, etc.)

* Things that humans in general won't die without (like coffee!), but you just might if you're caught with out it? :D

Whether it's silly or serious, I'd really like to hear about the things you need to surround yourself to feel more at ease.

I learned the hard way that I should back up the data on my phone. It was accidentally baptized in a lake.
No sleep leads to dumb mistakes.

As to redundancy, I like to stock up on really good food sales which saves money in the long run if you can preserve it.

Supplements are good to have enough of. They can help during times of distress. I keep forgetting to buy mega B Complex. That is good to help with methylation, energy and stress. Methylation covers a big list of metabolic/ biological functions.

Candles for light and extra batteries for flashlights can be handy when the power is out.

As for time, I started doing what many do and depend on the phone. It's an inconvenience to pull out every time and puts it at rist of dropping. A regular wrist watch has been very useful. Glad I bought a rugged style that I like. I find myself more comfortable with the more reliable old school tech than depending on the spy phone.

Speaking of spy phones, how many of you have back up communication if the cell towers fail? I think that's something that would be good for families to coordinate just in case.

Lastly, I usually have an extra pen.
They weigh little and take up a small space. I have been thinking of carrying an extra blade for daily tasks. That's a daily tool where one size doesn't always cover every task.

Good oil is expensive so I stock up when it's on sale. I was going to open a store and sell it along with lots of items that would be on many people's back up lists.

I am down to one jar of coconut oil.
I use to fry with and lard/ fat. The bible talks about oil for the face when fasting. It has a lot of good uses. When you don't eat enough healthy fats, the skin gets dry. The Bible is full of practical advice like that.

I'm going through my backups right now. It's that rainy day that you save up for.

I keep some backups for my laptop, but I'm bad at keeping it updated.

Otherwise I don't generally keep backups of anything. Usually haven't had the money to do so. And if i did try I'd just end up using it all rather than getting new stuff. I procrastinate, even restocking things I need. It's not uncommon for me to run out of something because I've put off getting it. Including my meds 😂😇

It was wretched
