Ok, here we go.

The four living creatures, symbolic of Christ`s 4 ministries. (Rev. 4: 7) What are they?

`like a Lion` -

`like a calf` -

`like a man` -

`like an eagle` -
The 4 living creatures are not just symbolic of Christ’s ministry but they display the Father’s Perfect Will concerning us.

While on the Earth, all the works that Jesus Christ did were according to His Father’s Perfect Will concerning us which were:

The Lion - King (Most High Authority)

Jesus Christ showed us the Father’s Supreme Authority when the winds and seas obeyed Him, all evil spirits and demons obeyed Him, no one had ever spoken with such authority…

We are to humbly submit to God’s Authority joyfully and willingly.

The Calf/Ox - High Priest (Melchizedek)

Jesus Christ showed us the Father’s Heart to minister to us by blessing us, praying for us and meeting all our needs with provision every time Jesus Christ healed someone, fed the 5,000 with 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread, pulled money out of a fish’s mouth for disciples to pay their taxes…. It is the Father’s Perfect Will to meet all our needs by blessing us and making us a blessing to others.

We are to trust God to supply and meet all our needs, without worrying or fretting.

The Man - Savior

Jesus Christ showed us the Father’s Perfect Will to save us from all our sins by Him dying for us on the cross. The Father has provided Salvation in Jesus Christ.

We are to receive His Gift of Salvation and not try to save ourselves with good works because it is impossible for us to be good enough to save ourselves.

The Flying Eagle- Deliverer

Jesus Christ showed us the Father’s Perfect Will to deliver us from our enemies, death and hades (hell) every time He raised someone from the dead.

We are to believe in the promise of God that the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the grave will also raise us up and in the blink of an eye we will be changed from corruptible to incorruptible, mortal to immortal.

If we rebel against the Father’s Perfect Will for us displayed in the 4 living creatures, then as a consequence we end up with the 4 horses and horsemen in our lives…

Thank you for your good points, however, I believe that you have some mixed up. Want to try again? I will write what I believe with scriptures after others have a try, if they do.

Hello Marilyn, I look forward to reading your post.(y)
Here is what I see -

Lion - King (as you said) `The Lion of the tribe of Judah.` Judah the ruling tribe. (Rev. 5: 5)

Calf - sacrifice. `The Lamb of God,` (John 1: 29 Rev. 5: 6) ` has prevailed..` (Rev. 5: 5) Conqueror, deliverer.

Man - Son of Man. Mediator `For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. ` (1 Tim. 2: 5)
High Priest, called by God. (Heb. 5: 8 - 10)

Eagle - Sovereign over all. `God...seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all.....not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet....` (Eph. 1: 20 - 22)

So, can you place each of Christ`s ministries next to one of the four gospels which highlights it?

Thank you for all your wonderful insights!

Definitely agree that the Lion is Kingly Authority. Jesus Christ is our one and only King of the Tribe of Judah.

I do not see the calf as the sacrifice of The Lamb of God because The Lamb of God sits on a Throne and all 4 living creatures bow and worship The Lamb of God.

I do see Jesus Christ as The Slain Lamb of God that sits upon a Throne because He has been given power and authority to forgive our sins and remove them from us… He is The Mercy of God.

I still see the calf/ox as High Priest/Servant ministering to the needs of the people of God. Jesus Christ is our High Priest/Servant.

Yes, Christ Jesus is our Mediator but, BEFORE He could ever meditate for us He would have to become our Savior. The Man is Jesus Christ our Savior.

I agree that Jesus Christ is sovereign over all but, as the Flying Eagle, Jesus Christ is our Deliverer from Death and Hades for all that believe in Him.

God says in Exodus 19 that He delivered Israel from Egypt on Eagle’s wings and brought them to Himself.

So… to answer your question…

Lion is King = Matthew
Ox/Calf is High Priest/Servant = Mark
Man is Savior = Luke
Flying Eagle is Deliverer = John

How do you see the 4 gospels matching to the 4 living creatures?:love:

Thank you Lafftur,

even though we may see some things differently there, it is all about our precious Lord, so, all`s good. Here is how I see the 4 ministries of the Lord highlighted in the 4 gospels.

Matthew - His kingship. Both agree there.

Mark - The Son of God. (Mark 1: 1 `Jesus Christ the Son of God.`) The Heir who was killed (sacrifice). (Mark 12: 7 `This is the heir: come let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.)

He has every right and legal authority - authority to teach truth, cast out unclean spirits, heal the sick, forgive sins, over the Sabbath, etc (throughout Mark.

Luke - His Priestly Mediation. Christ is touched with the feelings of our infirmities. he touched the man full of leprosy, the bier of the dead young man, the ear of the servant of the High Priest. He knows the grief of a wounded spirit, the sorrow of a bereaved soul, the burden of a broken heart, the tragedy of a disabled body (lameness, deaf, blind or dumb) etc.

John - The Son of God, deity. (Supreme overall) God come in the flesh - the Word - Omnipotent, (John 1: 3 `All things were made through Him...`) Omniscient. (John 2: 24 `He knows the secrets of man`s hearts...`) Omnipresent. (John 20: 19 He manifested Himself in the midst of the disciples in the upper room.`)

We can go on to fulfillment in the 4 visions of Revelation.

Vision 1. Christ the Head of the Body. In the midst of the candlesticks, the Body of Christ. He is the Sovereign Administrator. `In His right hand He held the 7 stars.` (Rev. 1 - 3)

Vision 2. Christ the Heir. The executor of God`s will. `in His right hand He held the 7 sealed book.` (Rev. 4 - 7)

Vision 3. Christ the Mediator. The High Priest `in His hand is a sacred censor.` (Rev. 8 - 13)

Vision 4. Christ is the Judge & maker of all things new. `in His hand is a sharp sickle.` (Rev. 14 - 22)

So good to meditate on Christ`s ministries while on earth, and now in His Body (as you explained) and then on throughout the book of Revelation.

Your turn now Lafftur, which I just see you have done. Great.

What is the first and last stone on the High priest`s garment and what does it mean in relation to Jesus?
The first stone is a Sardius representing the tribe of Rueben - firstborn of Jacob.

The last stone is a Jasper representing Benjamin - last born son of Jacob.

And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones:

the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row.

And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond.

And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst.

And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their inclosings.

And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.

…..and what does it mean in relation to Jesus?
Jesus Christ is the first and the last…

The Sadius stone is fiery red in color… sounds like sin under judgment in need of the Blood of Jesus Christ……

The Jasper stone is diamond like… clear as crystal…. sounds like what one looks like after saved and all sins are gone… pure and holy.

Jesus Christ takes us through the whole process from Sardius to Jasper!

Hi Lafftur,

Nice picture there. Now you have the right gem stones, Sardius and Jasper, But the writer has put the names wrong. You see the shoulder straps had the birth names, (Ex. 28: 7 - 10) while the Breastplate order was for the TRIBES. (Ex. 28: 21, Num. 2: 3 - 29) Thus, we have -

Sardius - Judah

Jasper - Naphtali.

Would you like to now write their relationship to the Lord.

Christ Jesus is also the Divine Gatekeeper....

Rev 3:7
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;

Jhn 10:9
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

Christ Jesus is also the Great Divider......

Gen 1:4
And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Mat 10:35
For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Mat 25:32
And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

Christ Jesus is also the Great Rememberer.....

Gen 9:15
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

Lev 26:42
Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.

Luk 23:42
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

What was the incident that convinced Peter, James and John to leave all and follow Jesus?
That would have been when they were fishing all night and had caught nothing. However, when Jesus told them to launch out into the deep and to let down the nets, they caught more fish than their boats could hold. Jesus told Simon Peter that from then on they would catch men.

Hmmmm..........the name of the fruit was ........ well, I can name the tree. Does that count?

It was the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. The fruit must have tasted bittersweet.

Okay. I do not know the name of the fruit. :(
I find these verses interesting

  1. Mark 11:20
Next morning, as the disciples passed the fig tree he had cursed, they saw that it was withered from the roots!
In Context | Full Chapter | Other Translations
  2. Mark 11:21
Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said to the tree on the previous day and exclaimed, “Look, Teacher! The figtree you cursed has withered!”

It could have been a fig tree, y'all, Jesus came to stop the evil from with in us, first born to know good and evil. To choose beleif to God through Son for us, thanks
