Leviticus is book of the priests. The two primary topics of Leviticus are 1 about the duties, role, and consecration of the priests and 2 clarifying and identifying sin and uncleanliness and how to restore a person to a state of cleanliness both quite physically and spiritually. The washings and sacrifices then are the primary methods for both these points.

Just leave the book of Leviticus for now. There is a time and place for everything.

Read the Gospel of John several times, then study it a verse at a time, and sometimes a word at a time. First go to John chapter 3 and see what Jesus said was necessary to enter and see the Kingdom of God. And actually the whole chapter. Read it many times, and memorize verse 16 (at least).

Aside from the laws...
This book is focused on the holiness/purity/goodness/set apart necessary for approaching the throne of God.

And the Temple and Holy of Holies were just shadows of the real one in Heaven. But violating the Holiness standards could get you struck dead. Uzziah was lucky he only got leprosy for placing his own sacrifice on the Altar.

Really Leviticus isn't so much laws itself, but are clarifications of the law which is the 10 commandments, this would be applicable to the portions that are about sin and uncleanliness and how to identify them as well as the range of their severity. The other part of the book deals with the priests themselves and their office, in this time the Levites (hence the title of the book). Purity is a pretty good way to put it as it is thematic in both these facets of the book with the priests needing to be pure and the object of identifying sin and uncleanliness being to purify an individual or the nation of those sins and uncleanliness.

Well,
There wasn't just ten laws....there were 613 laws.
The laws in Leviticus were for the Levites. The more difficult laws were for Temple life during periods of service in the Tabernacle or Temple.

What was said was that when the levites were working at the Temple they were approaching "double holy" status. But the priests found it too difficult to perform to last much longer than a few weeks at a time. Then they needed rest and to eat more completely.

The whole nation of Israel was to be Holy....working levites were to obtain almost double purity (and it would almost kill them)

God is the holiest of the holier of the Holy. A distillation of Holy that is beyond what man can endure or even approach. But this is where ALL life comes from and is infinite.

And this is what is meant when we see holy, holy, holy.

Holiness is not just a declaration but is a state of being. Of course it is something "set apart" or reserved for special use. Such as the difference between a loaf of bread on the grocery store shelves and a bag of fresh matzo bread. The matzo is reserved for special use.
Holiness is also good....meaning that it is also desired. Holiness is not static in being good or any of its attributes. "It is not good for man to be alone" was a reference to Adam's status of Holiness and lonliness at the same time as said by God.

Purity is an absolute must for holiness. David said that God's Laws were like silver refined in the fire 7 times...and that's just the Laws/word. If something comes into presence of God (as did cencers and etc) and survives it is pure....
Which is why they used Gold a lot....they could get it pure. Also wool and cotton were not blended in fabrics to symbolize this aspect....they were to use wool.

Holiness also has a positive reaction when encountering errors. It can be as easy as turning or rejecting....or it can be as violent as fire...it doesn't not have no reaction to error. It ALWAYS reacts.

This is part of the reason for the dread Israelites had when encountering God, his messengers, Levites, or his Temple/Tabernacle. Everyone and everything that encounters God becomes destroyed for its errors, impurities, and imperfections. Unless one is perfectly holy....
Yes, there was one such Man...and they killed him in the most humiliating fashion possible. But He did not stay dead....He is alive and on his throne in Heaven.

Old Testament is an earthly pattern of what Jesus has done for us

“and thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD thy God: and the blood of thy sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD thy God, and thou shalt eat the flesh.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭12:27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

New testament revelation of tbat pattern and figure

“For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. ( the pattern in the ot )

Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. ( the reality of the new )

Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:11-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, ( ot things on earth ) which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:”

“But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; ( not of this world like he said in the gospel ) neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.( Jesus is the sacrifice and he entered the true temple of God in heaven )

For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? “
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:11-14, 24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament.

Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:15-17, 22, 25-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.”( not the earthly man made temple )
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8:1-2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“ : but this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; from henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, And in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering (for he is faithful that promised;) and let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:11-17, 19-24‬ ‭

The ot sacrifices and offerings were only patterns of Jesus and his sacrifice of his flesh and blood which we eat like they did those burnt offerings in tbat earthly temple with those animals they offered God offered Jesus for the thkngs in heaven the eternal things and our salvetion

“It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; for then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭9:23-26‬ ‭

שלום עליכם
Shalom, God's peace be with you.

It's about prefiguration of Jesus Christ and his death on the cross, through which we obtain remission of sins and mercy of Creator, through whom we also give thanks and praise God the Father or the Holy Trinity. Jesus Christ is the ultimate fulfillment of all those bloody rituals. So there is no more need to perform them.

God be with you. Praise Jesus

Jesus is the high priest , the tabernacle is in heaven let me try niv version

“Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Remember after Jesus was slain and resurrected ?

“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭103:19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

the tabernacle and temple in the Old Testament was only a pattern of the real things in heaven

“They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.””
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

It was only a foreshadowing and pattern of Jesus and the gospel. Who is in heaven our true high priest , the son of God who entered into the heavens d a forerunner for us who are called in him after we also pass away to this world like Jesus did

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6:19-20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

jesus is still interceding for us even now actively as our high priest with god when we fail on our behalf like the Old Testament preisthood did for the people under Moses law

It’s why everyone must accept Christ he’s the true and only high priest of God who has all the power and authority

“but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:24-26‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Hebrews is he of the most revelatory books in the Bible it’s nearly as revelatory as revelation about the things in the heavens

Because of what we’re talking about Jesus still like the ot priests can intercede by his one eternal sacrifice that’s fully acceptable to God

jesus is the sacrifice , he’s also the high priest who offered the sacrifice and entered into the heavenly tabernacle prepared for him eternally

The result of all his great works for us who truly believe and walk by faith is this

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:31-35, 37-39‬ ‭NIV‬‬

But

“All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.

Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:13, 16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

That’s us too

“But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:22-24‬ ‭

we’re all going to die in this world but Jesus kingdom is waiting for his beloved on the other side if we hear and accept the gospel of his kingdom .we have another better life ahead after we pass through this one if we’re believers of the things he’s really promised us in the gospel

What's all the burnt offerings and the washing of the legs and body about, its it about god making the food good pure for all to eat. In his name
no sacrifice was acceptable without first being examined and found to be spotless and pure.
the offerings were not to be eaten by everyone. only the priests and their family.

so why washing?

Jesus said to him,
He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean
(John 13:10)
yes, why did Jesus wash His apostles feet, since He had already made them clean?
and since Christ is clean - the spotless Lamb - why does the woman wash His feet in Luke 7:38?

He gave Himself.

the physical tabernacle, some say was hidden by the Levites before Rome destroyed Jerusalem. but where it is now, if anyone knows they are not making that public.

did jesus give offerings to the high priest and were is the tabernacle now., is it still in Israel. Also dont the Somalians pray to the tabernacle, some of them are muslims. I live in Leicester its multi cultural with Christian being the minority I though they were all muslims??? 🙏🙏

The Bible is a difficult read.. I suggest you treat it as any other Book.. page 1 all the way through to the last page.. Ask for understanding through prayer and fasting.

Which of us reads a novel a bit here and there? What sense would that make.

Ask the Lord for help and understanding.. for strength to read from page 1 through to Revelation.
