Does anybody detox clothes to take out sweat build-up and rejuvenate their clothes?

This story started many years ago when my mother noticed a small mark on my shirt, and asked what it was all about. I said “the shirt goes into the wash every week but the mark still stays there.”

My Mother said "If you give me the shirt, I will get it out" After the shirt had gone through the next wash, I gave to my mother. And mother did get the small mark out from what looks like a clean shirt, but a couple extra comments came out of it, She said she could not believe just how dirty the water got, not only that, the very strong unpleasant odour that came from the bucket.

A few years later (maybe decades) I saw advertisement on television selling powder to soak clothes in, so next time I went to the supermarket I brought some and gave it a try, …...… I had a few fail attempts because of missing instructions on the soaking powder container …… and I got the same two things from the water that the clothes soaked in, got real dirty & very strong unpleasant odour, After it went through the washing machine, the shirt (clothes) feels better to wear, like a clothes was rejuvenated.

So you could think of it as either "Clothes Detox" or "Clothes Rejuvenation"
It seems the common automatic mechanical washing machine does not "cut the mustard" when it comes to get some toxic waste out of our clothes that comes from our body sweat. The good news is the more you soak the clothes, you notice you stop getting the very unpleasant odour, I am beginning to number my clothes with a marking pen so I can see when the last time it did a detox.

I got thinking if this happens with our clothes, what about bed sheets, that must have a strong build up from our toxic sweat, over the years, I got a big bucket, and gave it ago, personally I think it was a waste of time but then I go to bed dressed not naked. Naked sleeper may find detoxing bed sheets more useful.

If you give it a go, I hope you enjoy this new hobby. It only requires a few extra minutes per bucket. It might be advantage if you get strong rubber gloves, because if you do not give the clothes in the soak bucket a good clothes "massage" it is useless, these comments was not found as a tip on the container that the powder comes in, and why use rubber gloves? well you could use bare hands, but the toxic waste from body sweat from the bucket might get reabsorbed back into your body via your hands

Since the odors are built up toxins from your body maybe you should try a detox program for your liver. I mix my own formula from simple garden vegetables based on their detoxing qualities. I juice them and tend to spend several weeks at a time, after 40 days I then switch to juices based on more balanced nutritional principles. My washer also has a soak option which I use with every load of clothes.

What is it? What is it? that Christians just have to have a poke at someone else work.
IF YOU DISAGREE WITH THRUST OF ANY POSTING AND HAVE YOUR OWN COMMENTS TO MAKE THAT COULD PUSH IT OFF IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION ON DOING A BODY DETOX GO AND MAKE AND START YOUR OWN THREAD, MY WASHING MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE A SOAK OPTION even so I have proved the clothes needs the good old fashion massage it was given BEFORE they invented the washing machines. I have seen people throw what looks like usable clothes in the rubbish bin so this tread is not for me but to stop clothes been wasted. I AM NOT A AUTHORIZED HEALTH CARE PROVIDER, SO I HAVE NOT QUALIFIED TO GIVE ADVICE FOR ANYBODY ON DOING A BODY DETOX.
I got angry I thought my posting was deleted, I was thinking of make a regular manual donation instead of always going to church and putting money in the plate, I am absolutely sick of been topped up by negative baggage from Christians, I am not sure what went wrong, but it looks like I will have retract my cancellation of not donating.
I EAT REGULAR FOOD (and other things)THAT DETOXES THE BODY WITH EVERY DAILY MEAL IN IT, AND I AVOID FOOD THAT MIGHT CONTRIBUTE TO NEEDING A STRONG DETOX RECIPE PLEASE EVERYONE READ WHAT I SAID ABOVE AND DO NOT REIGNITE MY CHRISTIAN ANGER BAGGAGE.

This detox started after I had a Oligoscan I showed it to a naturopath he gave me a question-air on health issues it was about three pages long, and told me to go home and fill it out, a few of these I gave half mark thinking i only had that heath complaint once in a blue moon, When I took it back, he said "we do not have any half marks, if you acknowledge it it is ONE if you do not acknowledge it then it is ZERO so his score was slightly higher than mine, The point of the question-air is, it I had of given all questions a zero, he would have given me the maximum detox strength for the minimum time, if I acknowledged all question he would have advised me to take the minimum dose for the longest time, so I did not suffer from the detox program,
If anything from this thread, I would love to see that detox strength question~air again a internet search has failed me.

You seem to have a pretty short fuse, but that’s ok. I review the unanswered threads every few days and post so people don’t feel ignored. This whole site is about interacting with other Christians.

One area of experience is my study of health which includes this area.
After countless hours of research and testing, I found that depending on the fabric, there are a number of things you may find helpful.

1. Change to natural fibers like wool, hemp, silk, bamboo, linen, cotton. Several of these are naturally antimicrobial.

2. Polyester is the most common clothing fabric along with cotton blends. It's a petroleum product that leaches chemicals over time. It harbors and breeds bacteria more than natural fibers. Once a polyester shirt becomes smelly from bacteria, it's sometimes hard to keep the odor from growing quickly. This is bacteria because it's like wearing plastic.

3. Use warm water to cut the oils. There are body oils that require either a solvent, emulsifier and/ or a enzyme to remove from the tenacious cloth. It will release with the proper method and natural substances. Do your homework because some compounds will ruin certain protein based fabrics like wool, silk and even bamboo.

4. You mentioned soaking and hand agitation. That's a great place to start, especially if you use step #3.
. Sometimes a natural product like warm water with vinegar or Borax is very helpful. Do your homework because the acid of vinegar will damage wool. Otherwise it's one of the good ones. It rinses clear.

5. Last, I would stop using major laundry detergents and change to one of the better all natural laundry soaps. There are recipes to make your own, but I like Biopak best. There are others, but I would stay away from those that have fragrance, colorants and other unnecessary chemicals that many are sensitive to.

Try these changes and get back to me with your experience. They should help your laundry detox challenge.

Hello HealthAndHappiness First of all
(a) I would love to buy the clothes you mention, but it seems it is hard to find and just not sold in the shops because other customers do not like it because it wears out faster than polyester clothes and polyester clothes is cheaper.
(b) I hate polyester cloths, no amount of "clothes detox" to polyester clothes will make it good to feel the non polyester clothes gives you, from day one since new it has that feel.
(3) I always use the "warm water" option.

(BTW) I found powder detergent leaves marks on the clothes, that does not happen with liquid detergent

Thank you and I love the verse, and I wish more people would put what version of the bible it came from with every verse, In this case I would say the King James version (KJV).

......... I still think clothes needs a good hand massage somewhere in the wash cycle not necessarily every wash.

Good idea. I agree and have been frugal with water half the summer with dependence on my well during this drought. The 5 gallon bucket has been my go to half the time. They came out fresh and clean with your method.

I know what you mean about the powder detergent. It can be frustrating seeing streaks when you take them off the clothes line. I hate that.
It takes some effort to really get Borax to dissolve all the way. . I usually use less than recommended and spend a lot of time in the rinse cycle to offset that when I use it.

The Biopak brand comes as a liquid . A little goes a long way.....same with Wool lite (Wool Safe Version .)

My Merino Wool socks used to wear out fast because I used regular detergent. I didn't know anything about the enzymes at the time eating up my clothes each wash. I have had sweaters that gotten mystery holes in them.

On the other hand, I have a European neck warmer from Switzerland or Finland and an Alpaca hat that I used for about ten years and will likely have for more. They stretch over my head, so they get a lot of wear. I really am surprised how long they lasted. As long as I keep the moths and silverfish away, my wool jackets and winter pants should go a decade. Merino Socks are not as tough and get all my weight and abrasion with ever step. They wear out, but mostly from not hand washing with Wool lite. Silk sock liners help a lot to cut abrasion. Anyhow, this is one of those topics that I'll talk your ear off with.
👂😄

One thing I was planning to sell when I got my online store open were wool clothing and other fine garments at a reasonable price. I believe that the average person should be able to get great clothes and supplements that are affordable. This was going to fund my gospel ministry to the handicapped and elderly. However, I hope that another way will come through for that. Then I can go full time. It's on our prayer list.

The signature line is KJV. I'm one of the guys here that just uses that Bible.

Only with Christians, then???

Why? Because you expect them to be on a "higher plane" - like the one you are not exhibiting very well in/with the above quoted statement?

I know there is a time and place for making strong statements - I do so at times myself when I deem it necessary and/or beneficial to get something across; however, it is not my general/usual demeanor - which, believe-it-or-not, is of a more "calm and gentle" nature.

You seem to have something on your shoulder that you do your best to provoke others to try to knock off...

It might help greatly if you try to not get upset when others offer their insights and opinions on the topic - many/most are just trying to help [you].

Try to be more patient with others - it will help maintain the civility of the conversation.

Try to read the posts of others with the expectation that there just might be a worthwhile 'tidbit' contained therein.

"Food for thought..."
