It is indeed horribly sad, denying the power of the Gospel.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. ( same gospel Jew first and then gentile ) For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If only brother , if only we would I stop our ears and hear the grace and glory that’s right in front of us in his promise of eternal life

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, ( this is where faith comes from ) and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬

Saved by faith hearing the truth that changes our hearts where the devils trap is set

“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Everything we do and say is in his sight once we receive his spirit we shouldn’t defile his temple we should have learned lessons from Israel

Have your sins been cast into the sea of forgetfulness? Removed from God as far as the east is from the west? Remembered no more?

God says all this is true of Christians.

Psalm 103:12 ~ As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Romans 8:1-2; 5:57 + 58b

There is no contradiction. I'm amazed that the same people who tell me to just accept what the scripture says then turn and refuse to accept the testimony of scripture. Does the Bible teach that none seek after God?
I have yet to see you exegete one line of scripture and I have multiple times.
This has been dealt with many times regarding the context and the interpretation of this statement in scripture.

It your system that makes a mess of scripture not the the theologians who are not of the Reformed persuasion.

Thread Topic -----

For the believer, when does God forgive sins?

Until one accepts Christ as their Lord and Saviour through the right Faith --One remains a sinner -----only after Receiving Jesus through Saving Faith is their sins forgiven ----as Jesus shed His Blood for all people for all time but you have to receive the One who Paid your sinful Debt to have your Sins forgiven so immediately after you Receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour your Sins are forgiven and the Holy Spirit comes to indwells you----

If you want to receive God's salvation package ---the Scripture tells you what you have to do ----do as the Scripture tells you to do and you are saved -----

Romans 10:9-10

Amplified Bible

9 because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God];

and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation.

There is a stipulation here ---it says ------IF YOU -----do this ---you will be saved ---Salvation is Conditional ---
The word if should be the word when in those verses or you make salvation to be conditioned on the actions of men. That negates grace and...not of works or yourself.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Romans 10-13 + Galatians 3:5~ Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
Does God lavish His Spirit on you and work miracles among you because you obey the law, or because you hear and believe?

‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬

John 5:24-25 ~ Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life. Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. :)

I disagree. But not because as you accused earlier that I don't believe in the power of the Gospel to save. Nor because you say that I don't believe man has a choice. That's twice just this morning that you have inaccurately characterized what I believe.

Have your sins been cast into the sea of forgetfulness? Removed from God as far as the east is from the west? Remembered no more?

God says all this is true of Christians.
“Have your sins been cast into the sea of forgetfulness?”

Yep the ones I leave behind and don’t try to bring into Gods presence indeed are gone and forgotten . Removed. That’s not a liscense to heap up more sin and then reject the lords judgements or his apostles plain instruction

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬

should I believe john the beloved apostles plain straight forward statement sent to the church of believers in jesus and what he’s clearly simply and plainly stating ?

or should I let you talk me out of believing what it very plainly says ?

I’ll stick with the truth that’s repetetively put in front of me

I acknowledged my sin unto thee, And mine iniquity have I not hid. I said,

I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah. For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: Surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭32:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

But yeah I ………probably should try to figure out a reason why that’s not true in the new covenant like it was for David …

Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The problem is ….we would have to give the lord our ears and listen to him and accept what he’s telling us is true

But of course thisnis pretty terrifying if I believe

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Seems like a dangerous move to accept his word for believers I mean

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering ( patient ) to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:9‬

brother Jesus dying for our sins any an excuse to reject his word it’s a reason to believe his word and be saved

Some excel at misrepresenting truth. And some are plain and simple blind. They go hand-in-hand.

My confession as well.
“Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:

“and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

jesus sure didn’t misrepresent truth I’m the gospel tho

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14:6-7, 15-17, 21, 23-

“Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭KJV‬‬

makes sense that we shoood all learn what Jesus had to say about salvation and everything and agree with the truth I’m sure some a few maybe would agree that Jesus is the truth and spoke the truth that no one will ever be able to change

We should hear the truth and believe

Amen.

Really tho the preaching of the word is the gift where belief exists no one could ever believe the gospel of they don’t hear it

“For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard?

and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:12-15, 17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The word itself is the seed is what I’m saying the gospel has to be preached in order for anyone to ever have belief

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“you make salvation to be conditioned on the actions of men. That negates grace and...not of works or yourself.”

so I need to change the words in the Bible or I’m misrepresenting the Bible ?

Jesus set the conditions for salvation not me

i just believe what it actually says and don’t create reasons why it’s not right

i wouldn’t change anything in scriptire to fit my idea of grace sister I want to learn the grace that God gave us that does teach us to act right

“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.

It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Grace isn’t an excuse to reject the things Jesus taught us to do and repent of its the things he taught us that’s grace when we begin to accept it

Perhaps you should look at what it means that all die in Adam.

Some excel at misrepresenting truth. And some are plain and simple blind. They go hand-in-hand.
It is blindness, some of ignorance and some intentional. To some degree, we are all guilty. We all have ideas about God we hold in error. Only the Spirit will correct these things. What I object to, and am guilty of at times, is when I take the occasion to show how I do not believe something and someone insists something is my view.

How can one hear with uncircumcised ears? How can one believe with an uncircumcised heart?

Jesus gave the answer many refuse to hear = With man it is impossible.

Who is it Who circumcises the heart and ears? Who opens the eyes of the blind?

Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. :)
Those who hear will live

“I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

people who listen to that and believe will live

Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall be given into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

….And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36-38, 46‬ ‭KJV‬‬

people who hear and believe this will live

“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;”
‭‭Titus‬ ‭2:11-12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Gods grace that saves is here

And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭

“For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭2:13‬ ‭

“And he arose from thence, and cometh into the coasts of Judæa by the farther side of Jordan: and the people resort unto him again; and, as he was wont, he taught them again.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:1‬ ‭

“And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: and he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭

“Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. “
‭‭Luke‬ ‭15:1-2KJV‬‬

“Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it?”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭13:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:30‬ ‭a

“And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:14

we find grace when we come to Jesus and trust him take him at his true and everlasting word of life that teaches us to repent and live as the children of God there’s grace to get us there but we can’t take the position “ I don’t need to do what god is teaching me I need to do “ grace teaches us to do those things we’re supposed to
