They are synonyms, that's why some bibles translate it love and others charity.

here are other synonyms of Charity.

4 show a bit of charity to those less fortunate than you: goodwill, compassion, consideration, concern, kindness, kindliness, kind-heartedness, tenderness, tender-heartedness, warm-heartedness, brotherly love, love, sympathy, understanding, fellow feeling, thoughtfulness, indulgence, tolerance, liberality, decency, nobility, graciousness, lenience, leniency; literary bounty, bounteousness; rare caritas. ANTONYMS meanness
Most modern versions are wrong about many things including charity.

Can charity fail? Nope. Can love fail? Yep, if you place that love in the wrong manner. The word is charity. Stick with the KJV. It will never fail.

Hey, i don't want to step on anyones toes, but im tired of american christianity.
you might ask me why?
well, because i see a lot of people saying they are christians, and even preach on the street, yet they lack the most fundamental thing of christianity, which is charity/love.
the bible is clear about what love is and i just wanna remind you brothers and sister what love is biblically:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant
5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful
6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

And here Paul explains that even with faith he is nothing without love :

1 Corinthians 13:2
2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

So the conclusion is that love is a fundamental part of being a christian, its a very different love than the worldly love, its a love that can only be manifested when someone is fully walking with the Lord, because it takes so much self denying.

Jesus even said, there are no greater commandment than to love God and to love your neighbour like yourself, because no one hates oneself, so the commandment is to love your neighbour or anyone out in the world, like you love yourself, you know how hard that is? but it is indeed possible when your rooted in God, in his word with prayers and self denying.

Mark 12:30-31
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.

GOD BLESS EVERYONE OUT THERE. <3
do you think that is just American Christianity? why do you call its "American Christianity"? people all over the world are sayers & not doers. James 1:2,3,4 "but be ye doers of the word & not hearers only.........." a chat, not an argument.

Because i live in the west and the west is already nearly dead, many of us Europeans look to Usa for fellowship, on youtube, radios etc, because there are still many true believers there but its changing quickly, and i don't even count the rest christian because majority of europe is secular now and leave God out of everything.
its just sad for me to witness what is going on in america.

when i was a teen in the 70's, i heard so many times, "America is the best place to live, they have this, that & everything else". & it was true but there was quite a bit of dissension & law breaking by police & other law organizations then. little by little, it has become overrun by disorder. good is bad & bad is good. too much to say about it. evil politicians are making big moves for control & are getting their way lots of times. they want to incite a civil war so they can change the government. i wouldn't recommend anyone in moving there.

Yea its because all kind of cultures and religions are mixed together, it creates tensions.
I wouldn't move there, even though it was my dream before.
the reason i won't move is stuff like this:
In Denmark education is paid through the taxes, the same with Hospital visits.
its very Safe, compared to the rest of the world.
you don't see no homeless only few people in the capital but if you are homeless here you want to be homeless, because they really help with everything, they even give you apartments, and put you on rehabilitation centres, you have every possibility of living normally here and its easy.
here no one worry about economy.
no one worry about hospital bills.
no one worry about school tuition.
they even pay students around 6000 dkk (870USD) a month to go to school if you are 18 and above, its called SU , i know its hard to believe on top of ''free'' education but its true and that's why we pay 38% in taxes as minimum.
but no one is poor here, and the rich pay more in taxes.
the only downsides and its a big downside for a christian is the lack of believers here, you feel isolated as a christian.

unfortunately it's all too easy to let cultural social standards of behavior influence behavior often in a negative way that isn't completely scriptural.
