Absolutely! I've known of people who can't control themselves and when they drink they become entirely different people (and not for the best). Then there are people like my great grandfather who made his own moonshine and only drank once in the evenings. I never seen him drunk. Every once in a while, I'll drink a beer. I don't need to continue drinking.
What I have to watch out for is ice cream consumption. I can't control myself when it comes to ice cream. I'm not just being funny...ice cream is a problem for me if I have it around! lol
Hey it’s probably better that you have that problem than alcohol. I am a recovering alcoholic so I know what that is like and I’m kinda a recovering ice creamholic as well, even though I have it almost every day. I’ve had days where I’d eat two whole pints from Afters Icecream. It’s just so good! In fact, I have Trader Joe’s Coffee ice cream in the freezer right now. You know you have a bad ice cream habit when you eat it in the morning. Lol

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has eaten two pints of ice cream! After I discovered Hiland's Time Traveler, things became worse. It's a French silk ice cream. Good grief. I need banned from that stuff. I'd eat ice cream morning, noon, and night if I could lol. Just us talking about it makes me want to head to the store right now! So, thanks lol :sneaky::LOL::love:
I need house arrest from ice cream!

Sorry, I really want to go to the fridge now but unfortunately I have somewhat of a barrier where I have to take a cholesterol medication 30 minutes before I eat in the morning and 30 minutes before I eat in the evening. To be honest though, sometimes the barrier of entry doesn’t prevent me but it does help quite a bit and surprisingly my ldl cholesterol has lowered by about 20 points in the last four months. So I’m doing something right!!

This is just me personally, but I've watched numerous scary movies from the 20s up until the current era (although I don't watch the ones from the more recent years like I used to just 'cause they aren't nearly as good anymore imo). Anyway, I just look at them as entertainment value. I also watch a lot of action movies, many of which could be considered more horrifying than the scary movies. I think it comes down to how a person takes those kind of movies. To me, they are just entertainment. I'd much rather watch a scary movie or action movie than a rom-com or comedy or family movie or what-have-you. It's just personal preference. For those who can't handle them or let them get to their soul, then they should avoid them. For those of us who fancy an entertaining scary movie or strong action and aren't bothered by them, I don't see the problem. I've been watching them for decades.
Carrie,
your not alone i used to love watching Vincent Price movies then one day God told me I shouldn't watch them.

it comes down to this: is it Right or Wrong?
Scary movies revolve around these subjects: demon possessed people, insanity, ghost(demons) killing, murders, lies, deaths.
These movies display all the characteristic of the devil. Do you think its something a Christian should watch?

That's great to read!

I guess we both can't have ice cream right now (I told myself I can't leave the house lol).

Time Traveler is a French silk ice cream with marshmallow bonbons, chocolate flakes, and thick fudge sauce. I'll include an image from the Go French Yourself site.

To each their own, as I said in my previous post.

I wish there was a way to buy cold stone waffle cones or just make them at home for the ice cream. Sorry I keep bringing it up. I’m going to take my cholesterol medication….now!

Yesterday evening, I made some homemade brownies. Now, if I had some ice cream, that'd go great with the brownies. A little drizzle of chocolate over the ice cream and brownie. I got maraschino cherries, maybe one of those on top.
Don't apologize. I'm the one who first brought it up lol. I'm sorry!! :giggle:

October is my favorite month of the year.

The grass stops growing.
The temperature stops trying to cook you.
And the best part of all, BUGS DIE BY THE TRUCKLOAD! Good riddance to them all!

I tend to be someone that over does things until he has to completely cut it out of his life. A true addictive personality. I had to quit coffee last week cold turkey and switch to green tea cause I was literally drinking almost two 32oz cold brews I was making from home, daily. My sleep schedule was all out of wack. My sleep schedule is still out of wack because of coffee and lack of discipline but this past month, God has helped me make a bunch of bold moves, one of them being repenting from sexual immorality and joining this Christian community, boldly and honestly sharing myself with you all. Which is something I have been prayer for for the longest time. It may not be in an actual church but I found my people.

God bless you!

Don't worry about the coffee, I drink enough for the both of us. That's one of those things I intend to keep doing until I die. Forgive me, I'm drinking some now!

Seriously though, I think it's amazing of you to work on making positive changes. A lot of people talk about it, but it's another thing to actually do it.

I also am in the process of weaning off of three different psych meds after my diagnosis has been rediagnosed three different times. I personally don’t think they understand the healing power of my God, yet I let them do tests on me and prescribe me different meds. Gives them a purpose. I mean, they had to go to school for a purpose right? I’ll be their test bunny until they give up and tell me I’m healed.

I can't imagine. The only prescribed meds I've ever been on was for allergies and I didn't continue to take them.
I worry about psych meds, as I've heard the side effects can be worse than what they are supposed to be treating. I can't speak from experience though.
I do hope and pray for the best for you. It no doubt takes a strong person to make these changes!

Ever since I accepted Jesus as my lord and savior ten years ago, the Holy Spirit has convinced me that I can quit any addiction, even cold turkey, just by believing I can. There are a few tricks I learned over the years without attending any anonymous group. Just figured it out with the help of a close friend who made me realize I become who I surround myself with. The hard part is cutting unrepentant friends out of your life, so that you can have a closer relationship with Jesus, more holy, more pure. Some people that you considered to be best friends either distance themselves further away from you when you rebuke them or they thank you for shining a light on their issues and you remain friends. Some people that claim they were followers of Jesus Christ would rather live in their sin but as someone who went down that road, it is my duty as a brother in Christ to cause some pain to wake them up, so they don’t go down the wrong path but I recently had a really close friend decide sin over Jesus, no longer responds to me, blocked me from everything. So that’s a first. I just didn’t think it was right not saying or doing anything about another brother in Christ who a was living in sin and wouldn’t take any of my advice. Tough love.
